DCaff redshirted last year but this could qualify for a medical, depending on how many games he played in? I need some help here...
November 3rd, 2018 at 8:16 PM ^
He's already redshirted. He can't be a third-year freshman next year. He'll be a redshirt sophomore.
November 3rd, 2018 at 8:22 PM ^
No chance for a medical, today was his fifth game.
November 3rd, 2018 at 8:39 PM ^
He never had a chance at a redshirt this year, no matter how many games he played. He took his redshirt season last year. Same with Tarik Black.
November 3rd, 2018 at 8:10 PM ^
Super unfortunate, but thankfully I have more confidence in the oline and running backs. Wish he wasn't hurt obviously, but itd be way worse if we were an offense like 2017
November 3rd, 2018 at 8:10 PM ^
I’m not going to panic, but this is terrible for him andthe team. This means Patterson MUST stay healthy because we now don’t have a legit backup....Peters can’t run or lead, Milton is a unproven true freshman. I’m not sure why Harbaugh is having him run at all in that spot....hand the ball off to one of the 7 running backs on the team. Keep your QB clean.
November 3rd, 2018 at 8:12 PM ^
Experience? Just a SWAG. Anybody can get hurt on any play.
November 3rd, 2018 at 8:13 PM ^
It’s the offense. He could have been injured on any snap.
Not sure why you wrote that.
November 3rd, 2018 at 8:20 PM ^
Because he’s a concern troll of the highest order.
November 3rd, 2018 at 10:41 PM ^
Weren't you banned for a good while for the same thing?
November 4th, 2018 at 2:58 PM ^
Lol, nope.
November 3rd, 2018 at 8:21 PM ^
Because I want the best backup possible. Dylan is light years ahead of Peters. It just sucks for him because now he’ll miss practice and potentially game reps.
November 3rd, 2018 at 8:24 PM ^
How do you know he is light years ahead of Peters?
November 3rd, 2018 at 8:34 PM ^
Because I have eyes...did you watch games last year? Peters was not good man. Dylan went past him on the depth chart for a reason. He is a much better runner, passer, and leader. He has an “it” factor that Peters never had. If Patterson gets injured, who do want under center in Columbus, Ohio? McCaffrey or Peters?
November 3rd, 2018 at 8:39 PM ^
You clearly believe most of the "Chat Sports" - level bullshit about Michigan football.
I'm not a super-high-volume user of this site but I can still recognize you as a concern troll.
Stepping back a level, there are an amazing number of idiotic posts in this thread. You'd think Brandon Peters was a 5'8" walk-on from Ypsi.
November 3rd, 2018 at 9:06 PM ^
There should be no debate here. McCaffrey is the clear #2, and for several reasons outside of his legs. "Lightyears" is an exaggeration by definition, not to be taken literally. Arguing Peters is better is untenable. I expect Milton will get more reps and be the new #2 irregardless.
November 3rd, 2018 at 10:43 PM ^
Irregardless is not a word. Regardless, your point is valid.
November 13th, 2018 at 11:39 PM ^
"irregardless" is appropriate for the usage above, at the ending of a statement that designates the closing of the discussion. It's the one grammatical exception.

And from the few accounts I've seen from practice Peter's has looked better than last year, so it's kind if a pointless comparison.
November 4th, 2018 at 2:57 AM ^
I do....I hope we’re up 173 - 10, and we’re playing our backups....
November 3rd, 2018 at 9:14 PM ^
Fuck you Coldwater! I always enjoyed kicking your ass when we played you losers in rocket football in grade school!
November 3rd, 2018 at 10:25 PM ^
What school?
November 3rd, 2018 at 8:10 PM ^
Need some early blowout wins against Rutgers and the Hoosiers so Peters can get some meaningful snaps.
November 3rd, 2018 at 8:12 PM ^
This is why I always say, leave the starters in
November 3rd, 2018 at 8:19 PM ^
No, because if a starter is injured you will then say why didn't we have the back ups in...
November 3rd, 2018 at 8:31 PM ^
whoosh?
November 3rd, 2018 at 8:51 PM ^
definitely r/whoosh
November 3rd, 2018 at 8:12 PM ^
Well, that's not great to hear but if Peters is recovered from his earlier injury, that still gives us a backup with a fair amount of experience.
November 3rd, 2018 at 8:13 PM ^
This is why you need to recruit 3 or 4 deep at QB, especially if they're going to run regularly. We'll be fine, and he'll be ready next season.
November 3rd, 2018 at 8:13 PM ^
Seconded. Fuck.
November 3rd, 2018 at 8:14 PM ^
Welp... Rutgers is Rutgers so Shea should not play in the second half of that game or need to run much read option. I would hope they go back to old school Michigan and just bash Rutgers into submission and get to the backups quickly.
Depending on the severity of it, he's probably out for at least 6 weeks.
November 3rd, 2018 at 8:14 PM ^
Well, we need to get Brandon all the snaps he can get in the coming weeks. He can't have too much RPO experience and even if he does, he's not the most fleet of foot...Shea has got to stay healthy.
Seriously, he's got to stay healthy
November 3rd, 2018 at 8:17 PM ^
He has to be a credible threat to run, and he is. He's not running back fast or running back agile, but he can get the job done.
November 3rd, 2018 at 8:18 PM ^
Don't sweat too much. Peters, while not as good, is solid.
November 3rd, 2018 at 8:19 PM ^
I am absolutely sick for Dylan McCaffrey. However I feel like Peters only came in behind McCaffrey to preserve Joe Milton's redshirt status going forward. Now Milton can play in 3 more games and still maintain his RS. Personally I'd hope for Milton to come in for Shea in a real game situation.
November 3rd, 2018 at 8:27 PM ^
Hell no. Milton in mop up duty, yes. In a game that is still in doubt, no. Kid is raw.
November 3rd, 2018 at 8:30 PM ^
He's been with the team since Spring camp. Obviously has more natural talent and running ability than Peters. He fits the current offense better than Peters does as well. Gimme Milton.
November 3rd, 2018 at 9:01 PM ^
Since Spring Camp? Then he's practically a veteran in that case... may as well just give him the start against Rutger.
November 3rd, 2018 at 10:35 PM ^
Poor attempt at sarcasm. Point is, at this point he's not exactly a newborn.
November 3rd, 2018 at 8:29 PM ^
If the idea was just to preserve Milton's redshirt why not have Patterson come back in?
November 3rd, 2018 at 8:31 PM ^
Why would you bring your starter back in for mop up duty after your backup suffers a serious injury?
November 3rd, 2018 at 8:36 PM ^
Or maybe the third-year guy with four games' starting experience (Peters) is ahead of the true freshman (Milton)?
November 3rd, 2018 at 8:20 PM ^
I didn't like running him with the lead. If you want to rub it in, let him drop back and throw it deep. If you want to run clock, take the knee and get out of there or just let Tru run.
November 3rd, 2018 at 8:23 PM ^
Or slide. He's got that drive in him but he's still learning (and growing). He'll need to slide and/or avoid some of that contact.
November 3rd, 2018 at 8:28 PM ^
I agree. But, it is hard when you only get a few reps to give yourself up. He wants to show what he can do. And like you said, he has that drive in him. I just would prefer not putting him in harms way. Let him make some easy reads and hit a TE in the flat.
November 3rd, 2018 at 8:26 PM ^
Just take the "read" out of the read option and make it a give play to the RB.
November 3rd, 2018 at 8:20 PM ^
I really like DCaff's game but he's going to have to learn how to slide instead of diving head first and throwing his shoulders into everyone...every time.
November 4th, 2018 at 9:46 AM ^
My thought as well. Patterson does it too. Makes me cringe every time.
