“Michigan best defense I have seen since Alabama” Mork Dintimoreo

Submitted by bluepalooza on October 28th, 2018 at 6:46 PM

Anybody else catch the comments by the Purdue/MSU game announcers saying Dintimoreo told them that Michigan was the best D he has seen since they played Alabama in playoffs. Kind of took me by surprise. That Alabama D was legendary.

Or...it’s being downvoted because Scooter is a troll and his statement isn’t even correct. Our defense is legit but it isn’t only because of Wiskonain and MSU, it’s because we have been beating the shit out of teams all year. Wisconsin and MSU aren’t even the best offenses we’ve faced this season so he is cherry picking those because he has built in excuses (injuries for MSU and coaches for Wisconsin). We have shut down better offenses than those two. MSU’s offense was trash before Lewerke was injured. Hornibrook was a really good QB before he went 3 quarters without a completion against us. Trolls will always find a reason to bitch about the team, that’s shy he’s being downvoted

Troll?

What do you disagree with in regards to this:

Michigan has entered the national conversation based on their past two performances.

Michigan's defense played very well in both games.

Wisconsin's coaching staff made some puzzling decisions on short yardage situations that likely helped Michigan's defense boot them off the field, especially given that their run game is their greatest strength.

Michigan State was playing with an injured QB (who didn't play this week) and lost their last best receiver in the Michigan game. Both of those things helped contribute to Michigan's dominant performance.

If you think playing an injured QB doesn't affect your team's performance, 2007 Chad Henne vs. Ohio State would like a word.

But sure, troll it is.

I disagree with all your shitty hot takes. Before Hornibrook threw the pick 6, we were up 24-7 and the game was in hand. Before that, They had 3 total 3rd downs with less than 5 yards to gain and they picked up one of those first downs with a pass. Unless you are advocating for running plays on 3rd and 5 or more, that’s a really shitty point and in no way was throwing on 3rd down the reason Wisconsin couldn’t do shit against our defense.

This mystery ailment for Lewerke amazingly wasn’t reported until after we kicked his ass and his QB coach didn’t seem to know about it. Even then, their offense was trash beforehand, so I’m not sure why you think holding them to 94 yards is some awesome feat.

i noticed you left northwestern off your list, wonder why. You left Nebraska off too. Wonder why. It’s amazing that we can be 2/3 of the way through the year with the best defense in the nation and somehow these last two games are the only ones that count. Yes, you’re a troll if you look for shitty reasons that the best defense in the nation isn’t really the best defense because of your feelings

Take your meds man. There's no stable individual who would be so mad over someone saying "The defense played very well, but here's a couple of things that factored into their success over the last couple high profile games that has everyone talking playoffs. If they perform well against a legitimately good offense with a lot of weapons like Penn State, then we know its real". If you legitimately think things like taking the ball away from the backs against Wisconsin (especially Taylor who was averaging 6.0 ypc) or Lewerke being hurt didn't affect the game in our favor, good for you I guess? You do realize I'm not the only person saying these things. They've been mentioned by plenty of people, including on this blog's podcast.

But keep on being angry at one of the people who predicted we'd finish no worse than 10-2 this year while everyone was saying "WE ARE CLOSER TO 7-5 THAN 11-1".

Take isn't wrong... I mean, Michigan is 0-1 against teams that are currently ranked in the top 25. (Maybe this will change Tuesday...but I am not holding my breath).

All I am saying is that Michigan has won the games they should win, and it is easy (especially now) to suggest that all of those wins were expected.  But winning games like that, and doing so with crushing defensive performances, is also a mark of a great team.

This is the #1 defensive team for a reason.

Well, Mark D did say something similar after last year's game.  He likes to build up his opponents to keep the chip on their shoulders and it makes his record at MSU look better.

I think he is sincere.  I also think it is meaningless.

Yeah, he compliments other teams when his ass gets whooped.  What's he going to say, that Bama doesn't have a good D? He saw this loss to Michigan coming and was already setting the stage.  Then he pulls that on field stunt and that should speak volumes if anyone has any doubts as to who he is.  It's OK for Mark to be all in Sparty, just know that he also has no ethical floor whatsoever.

Our D is great but we've had other epic defenses recently that didn't get it done down the stretch, not to mention half of MSU's offense was banged up or out, including a beat up QB.  Only reason I err on the side of caution is last year's PSU game exposed our D and Don Brown's schemes seem to open alleys for mobile QBs to escape and extend plays, so this is the perfect week for us to right that ship after which I'm fully on board that this is an epic D.  If Ped State drops 40+ on us thanks to McSorley's legs, we need to revisit a bit.  I have faith in Don Brown that he's had a year to stew and figure McSorley out.  GO BLUE.  Huge game this week.  Just huge.

Well, it may be said that Michigan still hasn't beaten a good team this year but the Wolverines have a ball control offense that can keep McSorley on the bench.  Past defensive failures were preceded by offenses that couldn't get first downs and PSU is giving up a lot of first downs.  Iowa had an amazing 23 first downs while controlling the ball for 35 minutes.  Past performance indicates that Michigan should do as well.  A neat thing about the Wolverine offense getting first downs is that it gives the coaches more in-game time to coach and adjust the defense.

As you indicated, we hope to see things play out as predicted.
