OSU-PSU

Submitted by TK on

I have some really mixed feelings about this game. I never want to see Ohio State win, however I’m not very comfortable with Franklin’s success at Penn State. We already know that Ohio State is very good. But I haven’t quite figured out Penn State at this point yet. They look like they sleep walk through 3 quarters and then pour it on. Penn State is a game that I desperately want to win this year. I am looking for any sign of weakness in them that I can find. I guess the best case scenario is that Penn State wins the game in an ugly fashion and looking not impressive in the process. How do you think this one will turn out?

Penn State has won several recent white-out night games against Ohio State that they really shouldn't have.  They even parlayed it into a Big Ten Championship that they had no business winning.

The white-out night game is a legit weapon for them, and they have enough sense to use it.

There is a lesson in there for us.

I think Ohio State will win, but both teams suffer for months from the exertion of eight overtimes, hopefully. Then again, with it being a White Out night game in PA, I wouldn't be shocked if PSU puts up an Iowa-like 55-24 beating on the Buckeyes.

Interesting game as it's hard to get a read on either, since they've both played a "Hostess" schedule so far.  TCU win looks worse after they lost to Texas.  Who's been tested the "Cupcakes" or the "Twinkies"?  One prediction, will be fairly easy to spot the OSU fans in attendance Saturday night, even before they get taken away.

You have this 100% backwards man.  Ohio State is the game we desperately want to win this year, and every year.  Unfortunately, Dwayne Haskins is Ohio State's best quarterback of all time (yep sticking to that) and they look like a juggernaut.  If anything, the sign of weakness we want to see is from Ohio State.  While I personally despise Ped State's program far more than Ohio's, all anyone will talk about in the off season is how JH did against MSU and OSU.  A Ped State win would just be icing on the cake.

Further, there has never been more desperation for us to beat OSU than this year.  JH is the best coach available for our program and this win would solidify him several more years as opposed to potentially exposing him to rival troll fatigue that just may push him to resigning after next year if we don't win that one.

Must.... beat... OSU...  Just don't see it in the cards though given how insanely good Haskins looks.

Isn’t psu kind of a wait and see team? Very weak schedule. I expect osu to pull away late. Unless Franklin has superior talent, he is not going to “outcoach” many other coaches imo.

I'm definitely rooting for Penn State, mainly because Michigan has a better shot at beating them than they have at beating OSU, and I'd like Michigan to go to the Big Ten Championship.

I see a 41-38 type of thriller here, and maybe the game of the year in the conference. This will be a match-up to enjoy. The result will not bear on how Michigan plays against these teams. Just crack a beer and relax.

Tough call but you heard it here - the game is headed to OT.  Mary Jo While wins the game on a fullback dive.  Replay would've shown illegal motion but the refs decided not to check the tape.

I'm thinking we want Penn State to win since we get them at home. Who else does OSU have any shot at losing to? MSU on the road is pushing it. More than likely if they get through this game with a win they're gonna be 11-0 the last week of November.  Penn State still has MSU, Iowa, and Wisconsin to play besides us.

As much as this pains me I believe Ohio is going to win pretty handily this weekend.  Penn state’s defense is really suspect and if Psu can’t take advantage of atmosphere early and get a turnover I think it gets kind of out of hand early

This isn’t JT Barrett’s OSU offense. You can’t just play above yourself and shut down the run game throw in a couple lucky bounces and beat them. Haskins is terribly accurate. If PSU scores at will I still think OSU wins and pulls away late in the 3rd or early 4th. This isn’t the one dimensional offense they beat at home 2 years ago.

Osu 45 PSU 28

And I think that’s with a few iffy calls and some lucky bounces going Penn States way. One team fields a proven defense and one does not.

I don't know, OSU without Bosa against a legit team is an unknown. Both defenses are decent but not great imo, but offenses are legit. Even though PSU was tight with Illinois it seemed obvious to me that they would eventually breakthrough. The tempo seems to eventually get to teams late, everyone is able to handle it for  while but PSU just keeps going at them and they eventually have been able to break their opponents with it. Mcsorley is better than I thought, so is Haskins for that matter and I already thought they were both damn good. I don't really care who wins, OSU is not gonna lose 2 games so we will probably have to win out to make it to the title game anyway.

Thought about it more. I think PSU has a real chance. Disagree with posters think OSU will "destroy" them. Without bosa, I am picking PSU to win this.

Which sucks cuz I hate field goal, score run up Franklin and that cockyass mcsorely. Plus I have that they are recruiting well. Still I think this will help us as we have better chance of bearing PSU at home.

I always cheer against Penn State because they systemically supported pedophilia. There is no reason to ever hope for their football success, because they've demonstrated an institutional and cultural policy for that success to act as cover for some of the worst possible human behavior.
