Per Steve Lorenz Twitter: Christian Turner emerging as 3rd RB?

Submitted by The Baughz on

Steve Lorenz posted a link on Twitter from Zack Shaw who speculates that Christian Turner might be the 3rd RB on the depth chart heading into the season. Looks to be turning heads in practice, with Runyan Jr giving him high praise.

This is the first time I’ve heard his name being mentioned. Of course, it’s all speculation at this point, but we’ve been waiting for a 3rd RB and with this latest news, he might be the guy. Also added 15 pounds of muscle while maintaining his explosiveness.

If someone could embed the link, that’d be appreciative.

Would be surprised if O'Maury wasn't 3rd running back to start the season - but not that shocked.  Certainly has precedent, with the way Evans vaulted up the depth chart his freshman year.

I am hoping there is no NEED for our 3rd string running back at Notre Dame - unless it is "mop up" in the 4th quarter.  That would be terrific!!!

This is good news.  But I'd like to see at least two good backup options.  At RB, it's hard to find enough depth most of the time with injuries and all.  Hopefully someone like Samuels will also step up to fill another spot.

Yeah, however many homies in the Freshman class, they can all redshirt even if they play in four games.

I was generally unaware of this kid before now. He looks game-ready in his HS film. Anyone know what his senior stats were? They must have been great given how many long TD runs are shown on his film.

He played with and against many of the best high school football players/teams in the nation. His junior year he was in/shared the backfield with a senior who went to Florida State and a sophomore who is a 4****. It doesn't matter what his stats were...watch his film. His critics are right-he does not have world class speed but playing against the top kids in the country he is not getting run down from behind either...and there are likely a couple DBs out there who a year later are still wondering what that was that knocked them on their ass and kept on running.

Why is nobody talking about Berkley Edwards as the third back? He averaged 4.x yards a carry as a freshman at Minnesota before he transferred and got hurt.

I thought it was interesting that when BTN came to practice to do the show on Monday, that they showed a graphic of key recruits and Turner was on the list despite higher ranked recruits being left off. Now I realize that wasn’t a coincidence and he probably did well when they were present.
