Ricky Town Decommits From Alabama
2015 QB RT @RickyTownQB Today I have de-committed from Alabama. It was an honor to get to know Coach Saban and the Alabama fans. Thank you

We can has now?
If I'm not mistaken, Coach Nuss was the recruiter for this kid. This would be a major coup if we could land this kid.
Edit: NOT OT. HOPEFULLY REALLY, REALLY NOT OT.

I don't really mind "beast," but "beast-mode" really grinds my gears.

If a respectable coach had retracted an offer, I could live with it, but the fact that it was Kiffin, makes me dislike the move (if that is indeed what happens). It is almost as if Kiffin can't help but be a villian. I also don't get this charisma that the guy has in recruiting. He talks in a monotone, says dumb stuff all the time, and seems to be staring mindlessly into space whenever he is talking to someone. He is like a perfectly programed jerk robot.

Since Saban clearly wanted Town, it's unlikely that the parting was Kiffin's idea. Kiffin recruited Town at USC, and Town said no. Obviously, Town just doesn't want to play for Kiffin, not vice versa.

Although I sure hope he follows Nuss to AA, why would he? For one thing, Nuss left him hanging at Bama (understandably, but still). Also it's sort of a given that Nuss is in the market for a head coaching job. While it's a possibility that he could succeed Hoke, that's far from a sure bet. It's pretty likely that Nuss won't be our OC by the time Town enters college.

Dave Brandon will succeed Brady Hoke as head coach.

Admittedly, sir, you make an excellent point. I stand corrected.

Figure in that Town would likely take a redshirt as a freshman. Barring injuries and epic fails by both Shane and Wilton, Town wouldn't see significant playing time until 2016 or 2017 at the earliest. What are the chances Nuss will still be our OC at that point?

Town is a 17 year old kid who probably won't think that far ahead, and thinks he's the next Peyton Manning (or hopefully in our case the next Tom Brady)

Top flight OCs don't usually stick around that long.

I definitely think we will be at least considered. I have no insider information whatsoever but he seems to like Nussmeier and he at least seems amenable to leaving the West since he committed to Bama. Shoe on the other foot he may realize Nuss could be here for only two, three years either way. Either way a lot easier to get a recruit who is uncommitted than one who is committed elsewhere.
Should be interesting to watch and like everything else it probably hinges on this next season. If we have a 10+ win season I think we'll be fine recrutiing. Maybe nine wins but if we lose that many it means we lost to all three rivals which yuck or we beat some of the rivals but had a frustrating loss.
Hope he makes the decision right for him wherever he ends up.

So what if he doesn't come to Michigan? Nussmeier will just pick up Rosen.

we'll get a look but he knows that Morris will be the starter for at least 2 years, he could compete with Will to win the starting position, however, he's gonna have to like AA and Michigan itself because unless Hoke does poorly in the next 2 years, Nuss will leave in 1-2 years for a HC job. Even if Hoke fails before then, I doubt whether Brandon considers Nuss, too many "ifs", I hope he comes but I'd say it is unlikely.

According to 247Sports, in addition to Alabama, there were offers from Arizona State, Florida State, Georgia, Miami (FL), Stanford, Tennessee (obligatory), Texas, UCLA and USC. Of possible note, USC is now listed as "warmer". It doesn't list an official Michigan offer as such, but he was at least looked at by Wisconsin and Nebraska as well, by this data anyway.

Sounds like the kid did not like USC when Kiffin was there, does not like AL now that Kiffin is there, and liked his recent visit to USC. Not much else to see here, it seems.....

because I have the totally irrational feeling that Town will end up committing to UM. That kind of unfounded optimism is what gets people in trouble in casinos.
