Hand Trying To Flip Peppers
Nick Baumgardner @nickbaumgardner 6m
Jabrill Peppers tells Rivals that Da'Shawn Hand is trying to get him to "flip" but he thinks he's "going to go blue"
Nick Baumgardner @nickbaumgardner 6m
Peppers also said right now he only has a visit planned to Michigan. "It might stay that way and it may not."
EDIT: Peppers has added this
TouchTheBanner @TouchTheBanner 4m
Peppers says the pass rush (from Hand) will help him as a DB, but Countess has 6 picks and Taylor has 4. #Alabama corners have 3 total.

Peppers wanted to come here early on but I think that has been dulled by the 5 losses season in 2013

Stop trolling obvious troll.

RDT prophesied that this day would come. Wars and rumors of wars (The Game and the Iron bowl), lakes of burning sulfur giving birth to the antichrist (an undefeated Urban Meyer), weeping and gnashing of teeth over Brandon Brown's conversations with McDowell...now we see that Handpocalypse had only just begun when he chose Bama. Surely we are witnessing the end times of Mgoblog.
December 7th, 2013 at 10:16 AM ^
Maybe if we whip Georgia in the bowl all these kids will stop reconsidering their verbal committments.
December 7th, 2013 at 10:17 AM ^
we might win, but not gonna whip them.
December 7th, 2013 at 10:16 AM ^
Ha. How ironic. Peppers spends all his time trying to get Da'Shawn to come to Michigan, Da'Shawn commits elsewhere, and now he's trying to get Peppers to go with him.
I'd like to say that, even if we lose Peppers, we'll be okay, as one player should not make a team. But if we lost him, wow.....it'd be a fitting end to a crappy season.

to take the loot at Texas and for Peppers to flip Hand back where he belongs!

Not gonna happen. He might leave Bama if Saban left, but Michigan just isn't going to give him the degree he wants while playing football.

December 7th, 2013 at 10:20 AM ^
how so?
This is college football and involves 18-22 yr old kids
Don't blame Peppers is he does not come here, blame Hoke and his staff
The product on the field is mediocre right now and kids today want flash and appeal, something Michigan no longer offers
10 losses in 2 yrs, and getting beat on a regular basis by MSU and OSU does not bode well for us

Saban! Fill your inner desires and coach at Texas! Orange is a far better color than red...and you do like money don't you

the possiblity of Saban being lured back to the NFL or some other college gig. If that should happen.....
December 7th, 2013 at 9:26 PM ^
Yes, screw somebody who decided that the best place for him to go to college and play football happens not to be the same university you attended/cheer for.

Just think of it from his perspective... It's selfish to want this young kid to commit to 4 years of living in cold, dreary Ann Arbor when its clear that his career would likely not have any Big 10 or national championships. On the other hand, Alabama has been continually dominant and you'd be playing with the best players in the country on that team. They've had guys go to the NFL from their starting secondary every year for the past 4 years. They also have academics that fit in with the football program. The cherry on top - it never gets that cold down there in Tuscaloosa. He's probably just realizing that committing to Michigan so early in the year was a bad decision, as any talk of winning championships was definitely premature. The Crawford situation is pretty similar.... Ohio State continually has players placed high in the NFL and wins championships. I wouldn't blame them for switching!
December 7th, 2013 at 10:24 AM ^
The kid is from New Jersey, he would probably find the southern heat much more unbearable than "cold, dreary Ann Arbor". It's not San Diego down there.
December 7th, 2013 at 10:40 AM ^
Ann Arbor is cold, especially today. But its no more dreary than any southern town is. As for no hope of winning championships - take your dreary attitude elsewhere.

This might be the most pathetic post I've read in a while, and that's saying something. Either you're a troll, or the functional equivalent.
If Peppers is NFL-caliber, he's going to the NFL regardless of whether he plays at Bama, UM, or Southwest Mississippi Methodist Community College. Last year's #1 pick in the draft came from Central Michigan. Correlation doesn't mean causation. Bama's track record of putting players in the NFL has more to do with the concentration of talent there than a material gap in coaching. And just as reminder, our defensive coordinator has a little bit of experience with success in the league. UM is a very good fit for Peppers.
And none of the factors you mentioned is any different now than it was when he committed. If Peppers was to de-commit for anything you mentioned, he WOULD deserve blame.
If you can truly see no value in choosing to attend UM over Bama or OSU, then you really need to cash in what chips you have left. You add no value here. Find another team.

Its clear that Michigan likely won't have any Big Ten Titles in the next 4 years? How do you call yourself a fan?
December 7th, 2013 at 10:20 AM ^
Maybe a SI cover photo with the likeness of Jabril Peppers wearing a blue jersey with a maize deuce should be published.
The lad is young, 17? He just wants 15 minutes of fame with some lovin'. I think he now understands his early commitment didn't give him the spot light he now covets. He saw the media hype that Hand received, he wants some of that too. Toss him a bone, toss him the Deuce.
December 7th, 2013 at 10:22 AM ^
props to them if it happens

I have a wager stating that if he commits to Alabama then I must consume my head ware.

It would be nice to be on the receiving end of a large flip. I do wonder Hoke and staffs stance on attempting to flip committed recruits. In Hand's case....kid clearly picked Bama over us.....wonder if they take the foot off the pedal or continue to ABC (Always Be Closing) until signing day.
December 7th, 2013 at 10:26 AM ^
have the coaching skills on the field or the ability to close on the big recruits
Damon Webb to Ohio St, looking like McDowell is not coming here either
It is what it is man, we can only wait and hope

Peppers is the Comish, man. Maybe Alabama should worry about Peppers getting hand to flip to Michigan.
At least Michigan can kick field goals.

made me giggle slightly and then I remembered Penn State.

...is akin to the wandering Jews. The program is on a digressive slippery slope, so it's no wonder recruits with NFL aspirations look elsewhere.
The big question: Can Hoke and staff turn it around? The honeymoon is clearly over and the Mattison Mystique is beginning to wear off. My quarter says they have one or two years to prove they can do it or it's "hit the road Jack..."
It's just too damn bad.
December 7th, 2013 at 10:31 AM ^
I don't blame Saban, I don't blame Hand, and I don't blame Peppers. We are in a competition and we have to beat our opponent. If UM as a staff, program, school, product, etc. cannot beat our opponent (Bama, OSU, whoever) in this recruiting competition then we don't deserve the result of success.
