Also: Minnesota and Iowa play for one of the greatest trophies ever (Floyd of Rosedale).
Why Minnesota insists on its "pajama" look (all maroon) is beyond me. Their color scheme isn't the best, but when they had a maroon jersey and gold pants, under Mason, it looked decent.

I dont trust OK to hold the lead. I think ND will eventually win this.

I trusted Clemson more as the team to beat in the ACC anyway.

Ugh, Akron is now down 17-14, and UConn 28-6. UConn has actually outgained Buffalo but has two turnovers.

I don't understand that. Why don't they just go with a dive instead of some stretch play.

so i feel as field goal kicking has gotten worse in college football over the last few years. i have no evidence to back this up, just from watching a lot of game. is it possible that this is due to the uptick in soccer popularity in the US. or am i just crazy and this is more confirmation bias?
September 28th, 2013 at 4:52 PM ^
I don't think it has gotten worse, just the opposite. Kickers were really bad 20-30 years ago. FSU lost to Miami two years in a row in the '90s when their kicker missed from about 35 yards out both years.
Now most starters are making at least 70% of their kicks. I think the growth of soccer if anything is helping placekicking, because almost everyone kicks soccer-style now instead of the old straight-ahead method. We do see teams attempt more really long (50+) FGs nowadays, whereas in years past they'd pooch punt. That may make it look like kickers are worse, since they're going to miss a lot of those. But inside 40 yards, most kickers are almost automatic.

BC punts from the FSU 40 yard line with 5 min left in the half. Touchback. On 3rd and 11 they threw a 15 yard pass instead of trying to set up a short yardage 4th down or making it with a catch and run.

Iowa up 17-0 on Minnesota. The Gophers aren't showing anything on offense and just gave up a 50+ yard TD on a flanker screen.

Minnesota looks putrid on offense. 80 total yards at the half against Iowa.
