Is Beyonce an M fan?

I had no idea Beyonce was a fan of the program... and I still don't know.  She's from Texas; no particular reason she would have grown up rooting for us.

Did she do that video because she actually is a fan, or because someone told her our band was doing her songs on national television so she could get some free facetime, but in a more positive way than Eminem.

Is there a backstory here, anyone know?

And here I thought Madonna was our chief cheerleader in the music industry.  Hey tOSU, who you got?  Didn't think so.

The way I heard the story in the immediate aftermath was that someone from the Destiny's Child camp called Revelli Hall to talk about getting the sample rights for the cadence, there was some misunderstanding/someone who wasn't authorized said something they shouldn't have/etc., and it ended up being the beat to a huge record without the MMB ever seeing a dime. Just a simple misunderstanding on all fronts.

She sampled the drumline on "Lose My Breath" and there was a little controversy there because I don't think she asked for permission. I guess somehow, the controversy turned into a friendly a relationship with Michigan and the marching band. I can't believe no one could even google this to figure it out.

Maybe. Another nugget: Michigan was invited last year and invited back this year to play in Jay Z's arena.

Beyonce is one half of a power couple -- the other half is trying (very successfully) to get a sports agency up and running and increase its number of football clients.  Beyonce's video appearance at the marquee college football game of the week is a savvy marketing move, especially if Beyonce was paid to make it.

Dynamic pricing model? Hmmm, more like, DB wanted to blow away 2011 and forgot that Beyonce and Jay-z are a corporation themselves and won't do jack without $$$.  

Jay-z only singings about money in every other song, and Beyonce still is waiting for another ring.  She wants him to put a ring on it.

Dave Brandon is friends with the CEO of the Nets, who is a Michigan fan/grad. He called in the favor. I know this to be fact. Although there's another connection in that the Director of Admissions for the Med School has a brother who is a record executive for Beyonce's label. I remember this tidbit from my days in the Pre-Med Club years ago. So while I doubt she's a fan, or cares much about college football at all, I know she has a few degrees of separation that might make her more fond of Michigan than say, Ohio State.

Dave Brandon has some connects to Jay Z and BK from his days of being a CEO (most likely a Dominoes-Pepsi thing).  His connects are what got her to do it.

If she did it for free, then props to her.  But at a minimum she was doing this as a favor.  She's not a M fan.  That's a stupid question.

It was an opportunity for Beyonce to be heard by millions of people around the world.

That really is all that is to it.  She took advantage of a great opportunity for publicity. Its the biz.
