Michigan drill video
Yesterday was the first day of practice in pads, which can mean only one thing: Video of the Michigan drill for us to break down frame by frame and overanalyze. Go!
From mgovideo via BiSB, here's the link if I can't get it to embed correctly: http://mgovideo.com/countdown-to-kickoff-2013-day-21/

They don't expire, either.

What Jericho said.

death by trident +1 for leverage, +1 for power, the rest of us -2 for lack of control obsessing over a drill in August. We'll gladly take anything we get from Fort Schembechler.

He sure has a skill for laying the wood on DBs getting stood up by blocks and ones running out of bounds....

they have pipkins at nose correct? ...so we likely won't see washington and pipkins on the field at the same time?

Yup. He looks like the next All-American after Taylor moves on to the NFL.
BTW, who was #31? Don't see one on the roster.
August 10th, 2013 at 11:25 AM ^
I think that was #37, Bobby Henderson.

Taco v. Butt. Great match up.

That's always a rough match up for me. Not something I particularly enjoy. Such a fierce rivalry.
I do sometimes enjoy going to the Alabaster Bowl, just not for that match up.

Wow. Rawls bowls over Ross Douglass AND his lead blocker Norfleet.
Who is the big gumpy white guy ball carrier? Is that Shallman? He looks kinda soft in that role.

Under the new enforcement provisions against head to head contact, could a penalty ever be called when two linemen routinely collide? I stopped the vid for several of the blocks, and it is very obvious helmets are hitting, which is obvious from the sound and from the way helmets look after games.

There actually has been some concern expressed over the risk of concussions with this drill. I'm no concussion expert, and I don't have an opinion one way or another. But it's out there:
This drill is known everywhere outside of Ann Arbor as the "Oklahoma Drill."

This brought a smile to my face. Three weeks still seems so far away!

One thing I'm surprised hasn't been mentioned is the center battle, and after this small smaple of evidence I must say that I don't think Graham Glasgow is forcing his way into the competition, it's more like Jack Miller is letting him. Neither particularly impressed me and I might even give the nod to Glasgow because he's bigger.

i am feeling greedy and wish we had the depth last year to allow ondre to red shirt. he looks like he is going to be an absolute beast. want 3 more years!

means close to nothing with such a small sample size.

Beyer was out injured so no one had any expectation of seeing him.

Thank you for this completely irrelevant response to a great, thoughtful post.

It's obviously two reps on one day but during those two reps on this one day Kyle Kalis looked Real Bad.
Go Kyle! You can do it.

But I had a couple of things I noted:
1: Loved the hig by Rawls, then on his other runs he kept trying to go around and I kept going, "NO! WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT?" I fear he will never develop. The wood laying power is there, but he seems afraid to use it. You're not a homerun threat! You are a battering ram!
2. I wish Gunderson had developed skill wise. Just massive.
3. Norfleet.
