Greg Mattison contract extension details
Didn't see any reference to this on the MGoBoard, but the details of GMat's contract extension are out:
Mattison, entering the final year of a deal that pays him $750,000 annually, signed the three-year extension earlier this month. The new terms call for him to make $835,000 in the first year in 2014, $875,000 in 2015, then $915,000 in 2016.
Money well spent.

Please continue to pay him all the dollars. That is all.

Or just end your sentence with a period instead of a period followed by That is all.
/G nazi'd. But seriously, superfluous "that is all" additions at the ends of sentences give me gas.

All I'm saying is the man wants the gold. Give him the gold.
That is all.
You heard me.
Yummmm...
Of which one?
the flaming plate of dog shit. I'll take the amazing chocolate brownie sundae with the cherry on top.
I wonder how much of that he's going to use to spoil his granddaughter!
also gets a $200,000 bonus for finishing out the contract
$1,000,000 Annually then. Mattison is getting paid, highest paid Asst Coach in the B1G, not sure where he would rank in the SEC, but I imagine it would be top 3.
In case anyone is interested, here is how the base salary raises (discounting escalators) would break down, if I read this right:
SALARY YEAR | AMOUNT | RAISE |
CURRENT | $750,000 | - |
2014 | $835,000 | 10.18% |
2015 | $875,000 | 4.57% |
2016 | $915,000 | 4.37% |
Not bad at all, and well-deserved indeed.
I wish it went like this:
2017 $1,015,000
2018 $1,115,000
2019 $1,215,000
Just so it would be a little harder to walk away each year. Those $100,000 raises just waiting for him so he doesn't retire.
Clocking dollars! Learned this expression on this very blog I and I still think it's ridiculous after writing it for the first time. Starting to feel like Herm.
Pay this man all the money. Mattison is magic, I swear.
And who can afford to pay him his money? Michigan can, baby.
big money now but is still an incredible value. He could be paid this as a recruiter alone and would still be worth every penny.
Some of the fine print on this contract:
- Can recruit the Bahamas whenever he deems it necessary.
- Unquestioned use of David Brandon's private jet.
- Unquestioned use of David Brandon's office bathroom.
- Told Fritz Crisler's seat number.
- Super-awesome horseshoe pits intalled in south end zone.
- Allowed to tailgate up to 5 minutes before kickoff.
- Weekly calling of Urban Meyer telling him he faked every defensive call in Florida.
The question is, who knew it to tell Mattison?
It's going to be hard to replace what this man did turning our defense around. I'm sure Brandon and Hoke will be able to get another elite defensive cordinator with the Michigan name and the cash we're willing to spend.
re article in Bleacher report on coach" credibility". ohio coach #2. B.S. lookat him think politician. Hoke and Mattison are football coaches at a glance. Tough guys. Ive been football fan over 50 years.and have noted trends. ohio and ND players are like their coaches ,a little afraid to get dirt on their uniforms. Michigan players always tough guys. like their coaches. Meyer is a wimp.

Greg must be pretty close to Hoke's salary! I say pay him, he is well worth it! Just think how good our D will be by the 2nd year of his new contract! I wonder if Al is looking for a bigger contract extension?
