OT: Titus Young to be released by Rams
http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap1000000139513/article/titus-young-repo…
Only 10 days after he was picked up by the rams, the Titus Young Saga continues with him reportedly about to be released. This guy is a crazy muthafucka doe.

Common Brownies!
You know you want him. The sad thing is he actually would help our recieiving corp and nobody would notice or care if he lined up wrong. Hell it might help Weedon a bit if guys just ran around aimlessly.

I've seen this film before, with fat Mike Williams, who dogged it so he could skip town.... isn't it obvious that Young wants to play in the warm weather back out west, where he is from ? He didn't want the cold weather Rams to claim him. Expect that he will surface with one of the three California teams.

Didn't Tennessee just pick him up a few weeks ago??
Edit: Must have been St. Louis
February 15th, 2013 at 3:52 PM ^
Who would take him? The Rams got him, in part, because they were the only team to put a claim on him. He's blown through two teams in a massively public way. He has not produced on the field enough to compensate for his behavior. He's not Moss, Owens, or even Ochocinco (who I always thought was more fun than trouble).

Agreed. He doesn't have the talent to go with the drama. There are probably 20 WRs in this year's draft who have his talent (or close to it) without the baggage, and there will be 20 more the year after that. At WR, unless you're a true #1 guy, you're a dime a dozen.

I do think it's weird that the receiver position seems to generate a disproportionate amount of prima donnas, especially given how easily replaceable the vast majority of receivers are in the NFL. Like you said, if you're not an elite #1, there are more than enough people who could take your place.

They certainly have more divas per capita than any other position. Maybe because it's probably the toughest position to really get established in the NFL.
More WRs leave early from college than any other position (because it's easier to be pro-ready if you're good) and the good ones play forever. In addition, so many college teams play 4- or 5-wide nowadays that the WR pool is enormous.
That said, Titus Young got a little premature with his diva-ness. Even Chad Johnson and TO waited until they were at the top until they really let their diva shine.

The story cites a Detroit News piece saying the Lions wanted Young to get help for serious emotional and mental issues." If Young is going that far "deep undercover" to get out of playing in Detroit, he should try police work or acting.
I think it is more likely that Titus Young has taken too many head shots, and is already suffering early effects of CTE. Players are starting to "snap" at younger and younger ages now.
Part of me wants him to rot in hell for being such a pusbag with the Lions, but the more humane part of me hopes that it isn't too late for him to get help if he needs it.

Seeing as how St. Louis was the only team to pick him up and now he's ruined that, I wouldn't count on seeing him playing out west. His career could be over.

I would be VERY surprised if he was picked up by an NFL team. He is a lockerroom cancer evident from his Twitter outbursts, and his multiple suspensions from the Lions. He is most likely to languish in the CFL, or more likely the Arena League.

Is anyone else not the least bit surprised that Rob Parker now writes for a website called "The Shadow League?." I am also picking up a bit of irony that he would report on this particular story. Did I use irony correctly there? This board makes me so paranoid sometimes.

Chump. Until he mans up and gets the help he obviously needs for his mental health issues, I'm not gonna pretend I don't take quite a bit of schadenfreude from seeing him fail. Purposely sabotaging the Packers game, of all games, is a great way to be on a shit list for a long, long time.

is very surprising from such a high character kid.

Titus Young is the AT&T of football players.
February 15th, 2013 at 5:21 PM ^
"“We felt like by claiming Titus, we would have the opportunity to spend a good deal of time with him,” Fisher said. “We spent four or five days with him, and as an organization -- at the end of the interview process, you might call it -- we felt it was best to go in another direction." - from the Yahoo! piece
The net result of this is that the Rams' human resources people surely have stories that they could tell their grandchildren regarding the answers to some of the questions, I am sure.
"How would you describe your experience as a wide receiver?"
"I didn't get the football and I don't want to play anymore..."
February 15th, 2013 at 5:31 PM ^
in 6 months, what a pathetic waste of an opportunity, but I guess he was justified because the Lions "dithrepected " him
