5* Derrick Green to make his decision "soon" per his twitter
“@diezel75_: When you plan on making that decision bro @brookyln_boii27 ?” Soon
— D.GREEN #⃣2⃣7⃣ (@BrOoKyLn_boii27) November 26, 2012
I wonder how soon. If this could be a reaction towards the coaches picking up the recruitment on Isaac and also the recent firings. But this still doesnt entail a commitment to Michigan.
Spare me on the formating, I suck at this.

Lewan to the draft, is another possiblitly.
November 26th, 2012 at 6:28 PM ^
You shut your dirty mouth with talk like that!
November 26th, 2012 at 6:29 PM ^
I hope he doesnt go, just as much as everyone else. -Those who stay-
November 26th, 2012 at 9:24 PM ^
The selfish side of me would hope that he stays for one more year. However, I also want Lewan to do what's best for him and his family. If that means leaving to the NFL early, I wish him the best of luck. I know I would do the same if I were pretty certain I would be a top ten pick. If he wants to experience college one more year, I also think that would be a great idea (but only with insurance).
November 26th, 2012 at 6:43 PM ^
I'm sure Cam Gordon gets his fifth year. He's our only sub at SAM, and I doubt they want Mike McCray as the only other option at that position.
November 26th, 2012 at 6:54 PM ^
I don't see why Joe Bolden couldn't play SAM if needed. He is somewhat similar to Ryan. Here is a comparison of their size as a true frosh.
Jake Ryan | LB | 6-3 | 225 | FR |
Joe Bolden | LB | 6-3 | 223 | FR |
November 26th, 2012 at 7:02 PM ^
It's not as much that he can't, it's that he doesn't. Joe Bolden is a MIKE or a WILL, which are very similar positions. I doubt he's played any SAM, and I don't think they'd want to move him there when he will probably be backing up or starting at the MIKE. If you move Bolden, then you don't really have a back-up at the ILB spots, at least one who has seen the field before.
November 26th, 2012 at 7:12 PM ^
I only said he could play SAM not that he will. I do think he is a viable alternative and all things being equal, probably a better fit than Cam Gordon.
The coaches have shown no hesitation in moving kids to get the best players on the field, (see Devin Gardner). If Ryan and Gordon were to get injured, I don't think the coaches would hesitate to put Bolden on the field with Morgan and Ross.
November 26th, 2012 at 7:14 PM ^
Well yeah, if the top two guys get hurt, they might move guys around. I think that's pretty obvious.
November 26th, 2012 at 7:18 PM ^
If Jake Ryan were to leave for the NFL after this season (highly unlikely), I'd rather see Bolden playing SAM over Cam Gordon.
I would take:
Ross Morgan Bolden
over:
Ross Morgan/Bolden Gordon
November 26th, 2012 at 7:24 PM ^
OK, but even if that's the case, wouldn't you rather have the SAM depth chart be Bolden/Gordon/McCray than Bolden/McCray/nobody?
The original question wasn't whether Cam Gordon should be the starting SAM, it was whether he should even be kept on the team.
November 26th, 2012 at 7:37 PM ^
Don't forget my boy Ben Gedeon. Playa
November 26th, 2012 at 7:39 PM ^
I like Gedeon as a prospect too, but he's definitely not a SAM and he'll be a freshman too. Let's not boot upperclassmen with lots of playing time off the team for true freshmen.
November 26th, 2012 at 7:43 PM ^
Ok, I'll let Gordon stay.
In a pinch we could always put Taco Charlton out at SAM and turn him loose.
Don't forget about Jeremy Clark either he's 6'4'' 200lber too.
November 26th, 2012 at 8:17 PM ^
Charlton will probably be 6'6", 250-260 lbs. by the time he hits campus. He's closer to a strongside end than a SAM.
November 26th, 2012 at 9:30 PM ^
November 26th, 2012 at 9:45 PM ^
260? That may be good for his playing weight but no way he fits in this comment window at 260...getting slender in here
November 26th, 2012 at 7:51 PM ^
I think Ringer will probably be in the mix as well.
November 26th, 2012 at 7:16 PM ^
From what I understand, Antonio Poole has played both MIKE and WILL in practices and the coaches like what they've seen from him. You're right that he hasn't seen the game field, but he'll be a redshirt sophomore next year with lots of practice experience. He could be a viable backup.
November 26th, 2012 at 7:20 PM ^
Yes, that makes sense. And sure, if there are tons of injuries, crazy things will have to happen.
But Gordie was suggesting the coaches would plan for that, which I think is nuts. If you don't let Cam Gordon to come back for his 5th year, you're asking for that situation, which I'm sure the coaches wouldn't do. I'm sure they'd prefer Cam to back up JMFR, Bolden to back up Morgan and Poole to back up Ross (or some combo of those).
November 26th, 2012 at 6:45 PM ^
Gordon is virtually guaranteed a significant chunk of playing time because Mattison likes to rotate guys, and there are literally no other SAM linebackers on the roster. Even if McCray comes in to play SAM, he'll only be a freshman. I think Gordon stays.
Mike Jones, on the other hand...
November 26th, 2012 at 6:52 PM ^
Mike Jones made a great play on Special teams on Saturday.

Please, dont remind me of that, ugh.

Meyer thought it was a clean hit.

Honestly there are 6-7 guys who just likely won't be playing for Michigan in the future except some rare special teams duty, but not all of them are RS Juniors. Attrition is natural, and it always happens, but I'm always surprised when it does.

He has also been retweetering pro-UM comments. No, I don't own an account. I feed some of Larry's cousin's outdoors every few mornings. They let me know what's up.
They're not TOO reliable since, you know, they're birds. But with recent happenings, I like to think it's more than mere coincidence.
November 26th, 2012 at 5:54 PM ^
Because he also just tweeted that he's staying to himself for awhile, so, cease speculation? I don't know, I just don't.

Derrick mixing it up with Devin, Dennis, Devin, Deveon, Drake, Drew, and De'Mario is going to be sooooo sweet.

If true, this may be good news. He won't likely be picking UT or Auburn without knowing who their coaches are. We coudl sure use him...
November 26th, 2012 at 6:26 PM ^
The "soon" comment seems to contradict what he told Farrell about visits.
November 26th, 2012 at 6:49 PM ^
Agreed, but 17-18 year olds have a way of changing their minds. Also, I think that comment was pre Dooley and Chizik getting fired.
November 26th, 2012 at 6:51 PM ^
It was post-firings, but true, he could have changed his mind.
November 26th, 2012 at 6:30 PM ^
I got lambasted last night for reading into a tweet by Derrick Green. But I'm telling you, the kid never talked about an individual school, besides talking about one he was going to visit. Then out of the blue last night, he answers a random question about Michigan recruiting him. While I'm fully on board with people reading too much into things recruits say on twitter, I believe this one to be different.
