Maryland already knocking Little Brother
I like Maryland more already.
An analysis of the expansion from Maryland's SBNation blog, TestudoTimes, declares the following.
And if you think Maryland doesn't fit in because they're a basketball school, Indiana, Michigan State*, and Illinois say hi.
State has been better at basketball than they have at football for some time, but try telling a state fan that they're a basketball school and enjoy the livid, fuming tirade that ensues. Good show, Maryland. It's like prison. Shank a guy on the first day, and then things will be alright.
*emphasis mine.

Maryland = Baby seal clubbing just waiting to happen... In football of course

"I could certainly get used to going to Bloomington and beating Indiana in their pomp, or extracting yearly revenge on Michigan State for the shot that ended Greivis Vasquez's career." - from the TestudoTimes
I like how this guy thinks. I have to say, I would chuckle if a Maryland fan brought out a sign in East Lansing with a nice, snarky reference to Korie Lucious, who shot that three-pointer. Perhaps something of the "Have You Seen This Man?" variety....

This should go in the divisions thread, but it's already buried, so I'll post this here.

I think you're mixing up the locations of UVA and VT. VT is the one inside King Kong's dong.

Actually, King Kong looks like Patrick from (star fish character?) from Spongebob

Why is all the text bold? Why is the Big Ten becoming the Big 14? Why is Jim Delaney our conference commish?

When I was a kid, the only sport in which MSU was arguably better than us was hockey, and then, fortunately, Red Berenson showed up and put an end to that nonsense.

I have absolutely nothing to offer in this thread but damn I've wanted that particular font in the past and couldnt get it so now that it seems to be mandated here i'm in.
It's glorious.

I'm not gonna lie: I will be rooting for Sparty in every one of these matchups.
November 20th, 2012 at 12:44 AM ^
Thats because you are a bitter uva fan, but its ok I'm not sure why a uva fan has an inferiority complex towards md but it certainly seems you do.
November 20th, 2012 at 1:41 AM ^
Correct, I'm not sure why I would have an inferiority complex, or why you'd think I'd have one. You're basically only extending a perfect streak I have going, which is that every single encounter I've had with a Maryland fan has been horrible. Talk about two fanbases that deserve each other.

You see what Delany has reduced us to? We're saying that schools that would never be considered a good fit for the Big Ten would be a better fit than f*cking Maryland.
I'm beginning to think that Jim Delany hates us.

What's your deal?
Just kidding- but seriously, I can't recall, did you go to both schools? If so, which did you go to grad school and for what? I went to M obviously, and have applied to both for b school (not sure I'll get in to either, but hey, giving it a go!)
November 20th, 2012 at 11:23 AM ^
Went to UVA for undergrad. Have never attended U-M. I am a Wal-Mart Wolverine who simply rooted for U-M since I was very very small. Good luck on business school, I think both schools are pretty much the same in terms of quality and selectiveness. Both extremely hard to get into.
November 20th, 2012 at 2:54 AM ^
Whatever. I'm still pissed that we're adding these two mediocre schools. I feel blindsided.
Maryland and Rutgers are not, and never will be, legitimate members of this conference. They are interlopers, as far as I'm concerned.
November 20th, 2012 at 1:26 PM ^
you could mount a pretty legit argument that Sparty was a worse addition than Maryland at least
November 20th, 2012 at 4:11 PM ^
Sparty has been a member of the conference for sixty years. In sixty years, I'll get over Maryland and Rutgers if I'm alive then. But for now, I'm pissed.
November 20th, 2012 at 8:43 AM ^
Good show, Maryland. It's like prison. Shank a guy on the first day, and then things will be alright.Brilliant analogy!

IMO a more accurate example of the relationship would be a Texas/TAMU, and sure looks like that is working out for TAMU. Maybe Sparty to the ACC would benefit them also.
