Hope For Pahokee Kickstarter (Odoms - #eating)
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1021358459/hope-eating-from-garden-…
Odoms has started a kickstarter to try and get money for a garden in Pahokee Florida. They've gone well beyond just the #EATING shirts and have all sorts of new stuff that you can get for donating. There's a video in it of Odoms himself talking about the project. I tried to embed but the code isn't working.
It must have just started today because they have $0 donated. But if you wish to donate some money and get a T-shirt, or laser tag with Odoms?, then you can donate some money. They have a pretty big goal of $35,000. Just thought I'd share since it's a project for a former, and loved, Michigan player.

I'd like me an M Rising hoodie.
September 5th, 2012 at 7:33 PM ^
Those M Rising hoodies look awesome. I also kind of want the football heart shirt.
And really now -- I think we can get behind this and easily help Odoms hit his goal.
September 5th, 2012 at 8:29 PM ^
Can Odoms mock up some jerseys... Practice ones of course :)

I'm new to kickstarter. I donated, but when do I get to pick the color/size?
September 5th, 2012 at 8:48 PM ^
If it reaches the goal, you'll receive a survey where you choose all that information after the fundraiser has closed.

Thanks! Just got an e-mail from them.

That's a really cool kickstarter, I will definitely contribute once I pick what I want (lots of cool options). The personalized thank you card is awesome (and probably very profitable).
September 5th, 2012 at 7:47 PM ^
I plan on donating a second time, assuming I can afford it, just so I can get the thank you card as well as the rising hoodie.

How fast did we get $20,000 for Brian and HTTV Magazine? One day? We can definitely do this and it's for a better cause. I think this should be on the front page like the HTTV kickstarter was.
September 5th, 2012 at 7:33 PM ^
I agree. As much as I love HTTV every year, this goes way beyond that. Brian should get in touch with Odoms to see if we can put his kickstarter link somewhere on the front page for the next 20 days.
September 5th, 2012 at 7:34 PM ^
That took like a day, but it was also the banner on the front page.
September 5th, 2012 at 7:30 PM ^
I'm in.
September 5th, 2012 at 7:35 PM ^
Donated money to a worthy cause.
Yeah, it was a good day.
September 5th, 2012 at 7:39 PM ^
How about this? We set up a swear jar for the liveblogs. Each curse word is assigned a dollar amount and donated to Hope For Pahokee. Then next year we start another drive to end the obesity epidemic we created down there...

Donated! Good luck Martavious and Go Blue!

If I still lived in AA (or close by) I promise I could find 11 guys who would pay 120 bucks to go play laser tag with Odoms one weekend. Have it be for somebody's birthday or something.
September 5th, 2012 at 8:04 PM ^
$120 bucks EACH?
September 5th, 2012 at 8:13 PM ^
Yeah, you don't it because it's a bargain, you do it because it's for charity and it's with a Michigan football player. And I meant paint ball, not that it makes a big difference.
I played paintball a handful of weekends ago and it was about 50 bucks. None of my money went to charity, and it wasn't with Martavious Odoms. I'm not saying everyone I know would sign up, but get a fraternity with 80-100 guys, and I bet you find 12 of them who want to do it.
September 5th, 2012 at 7:48 PM ^
Definitely going to make a contribution. So many cool reward options.
September 5th, 2012 at 7:55 PM ^
Count me in. Also, I'm going to post on my Facebook page.

donated and posted on FB.
Thanks Hail2 for posting this.

I may just have to get a Robots Hustle Harder
September 5th, 2012 at 8:02 PM ^
An alum taking the initiative to become a leader in his own, underserved community. Of course I'll donate.
September 5th, 2012 at 8:06 PM ^
The Rising Michigan hoodie is a good idea, I just wonder how it'll actually look when it is printed.
September 5th, 2012 at 8:15 PM ^
...Hope For Pahokee is backed. Great Kickstarter idea and an awesome cause - great to see a former player and alum giving back to his community, taking what he learned here back there. Good luck and "Go Blue" to Odoms and Pahokee!
September 5th, 2012 at 8:16 PM ^
I just donated 25$. Thats pretty good for a grad student, but the cause is definitly worth it. Its great to see a young guy like Odoms become such a leader and role model within his communitee.

The nice thing is that I see on there that Tae Odoms has 3248 facebook friends. I hope he pushed them to donate, because if he even gets half of them to, he's there (assuming they donate an average of about 20 bucks).
September 5th, 2012 at 8:22 PM ^
Which one of you is going to be playing paintball with Odoms?
September 5th, 2012 at 8:23 PM ^
Just pledged $30. I think im gonna do a seperate donation to get the postcard!
September 5th, 2012 at 8:37 PM ^
I made one donation and wanted to make another one for a different reward, but Kickstarter won't let me aggregate the donations. Do you know how to do this, or is the easiest way to sign in with another account?

I'm not going to tweet at a recruit, however would it be appropriate for someone to ask Morris to retweet this cause? feel like he has a lot of michigan followers and it could help.
September 5th, 2012 at 8:47 PM ^
Very appropriate. Tweet Shane, tweet ESPN, tweet everybody. I have the feeling this is a story ESPN would love to play up.

I'm gona miss all these pahokee guys, looks like we only have a few left on the team
September 5th, 2012 at 8:30 PM ^
Just donated. So glad to see him working on this and the Michigan community supporting it. I really hope it takes off. Odoms is a credit to the University and the football program.

Watch your email post 26 Sept. If this gets funded you'll get a survey to fill out regarding your size, color, etc. If this doesn't get funded, then you aren't charged anything.
A lot of people on Kickstarter seem to miss that followup email and then never get their swag since they never said what they wanted. It's kind of a dumb system, but is how KS works.
September 5th, 2012 at 8:46 PM ^
Does anyone know if you can donate multiple times? I really want the postcart but also a few t-shirts.
Posted this to my facebook. Really hope my M friends will donate, or really anyone in general. This is a great cause.
September 5th, 2012 at 8:51 PM ^
Someone else said they can't donate twice. Perhaps donate the sum of the two donation levels, and then send Tay an email specifying that you want two rewards?
