Go Blue, Wear Maize. My favorite michigan gear is blue, but for gamedays you gotta wear maize.
August 27th, 2012 at 12:05 PM ^
Absolutely correct. Maize shows in the stands so much better than blue, and that's an important psychological factor. Wear as much maize as possible.

Back in the day it was cool to wear a jersey anywhere at anytime; when did this change anyways?
Back in the day it was also awesome to wear a Chris Webber jersey w/ black nike socks up to the knees.

At 25, you're right at that jersey-wearing tipping point between fleetingly permissible and early asshattery. I say go with it, but tread with caution.
August 27th, 2012 at 10:55 AM ^
I responded with, SEC fans having Justin Bieber hair cuts and dress up like they are in route to a funeral home for their games.
August 27th, 2012 at 1:04 PM ^
to make up for their general lack of it.
August 27th, 2012 at 11:05 AM ^
No. Jerseys are for 3-13 years old. I do own one but I have it stocked away and I wear it around the house on occasion. However, I do not wear it in public.
Having said that, wear a polo.

Yes. But that's just like my opinion, man.
August 27th, 2012 at 1:06 PM ^
and or Southern? A polo for gamedays?
August 27th, 2012 at 2:24 PM ^
I'm 28. And no, born and raised in West Michigan. Southern? Kind of. My wife is a South Carolina alum so maybe I have been brainwashed.

As a head's up, 'Bama fans (or students/alumni from southern schools* anyway anyway) typically don't. They make fun of us for wearing jerseys. Students/Alumni typically wear preppy clothes in their school color to games.
* I base this on experiences at Georgia Tech, Georgia, and conversations with alumni of SEC schools, with the exception of Florida. Gators wear jean shorts!

I won't be in Dallas, but I plan on rocking my #32 jersey to the bar here in Baltimore (bought it in the '99 for A-Train and now it doubles for Kovacs. Score). I'm 26, and I really just don't care if other people care. I don't understand the opposition to adults wearing jerseys.
August 27th, 2012 at 12:34 PM ^
You can still wear a jersey you bought when you were 13?

The Maize can be seen miles away. Nick Satan will love it.

Nick Satan isn't funny or clever. Please either 1) stop using lame name misspelling or 2) go back to mlive.
Thanks and have a great Monday!

(internet high five!)
This state is awesome and, in many many way, nicer than Michigan.
August 27th, 2012 at 10:52 AM ^
maize shirt, blue hat. And, yes, if you are actually attending the game you may wear a jersey. Otherwise, grown men wearing jerseys is strictly prohibited.
August 27th, 2012 at 11:22 AM ^
I respectfully disagree. Maybe in a few years this will become more apparent to me, but I feel like as long as it is gameday and I am out watching the game, the jersey is appropriate. If you're wearing a jersey on a Tuesday night out for dinner, then I agree with you.
August 27th, 2012 at 11:52 AM ^
Although I would add a caveat that the player you're wearing can have "some" impact on the amount of douchery you're giving off.
A few years back, I spent good hard-earned money on a Forcier jersey (an "away" one, no less). Today, this would not be an acceptable gameday bar jersey, and I would be welcoming the inevitable taunts associated with my perceived sexual preference.
Denard is ok. Also classic Wolverines like Howard, Woodson, Taylor, Brady -- all exempt from this rule.
August 27th, 2012 at 11:28 AM ^
^^This combo right here. I would love to wear blue but it just doesnt pop as good on TV/crowd shots and UTL was freaking a-maize-ing with all the pom poms and shirts.
August 27th, 2012 at 10:59 AM ^
I can't decide on if I want to wear my Maize student section shirt or my Denard (home) jersey. Any recommendations?
August 27th, 2012 at 12:17 PM ^
Maize. Always maize.
August 27th, 2012 at 11:04 AM ^
Maize sideline polo for me.
August 27th, 2012 at 11:08 AM ^
Overall, you've got to go Maize. Stand out, be brilliant!
August 27th, 2012 at 11:12 AM ^
1) Maize because it stands out, I'll be wearing the Team 133 shirt that you can find at all MDEN's.
2) If your going to be outside tailgating maize will keep you cooler in the 100 degree heat Dallas will be having.
On a second note, anyone driving down from Michigan and a litlte more than concerned about driving through Hurrican Isaac on Friday? I'm starting to freak a little when I look at a map of the path its taking, its pretty much all through Arkansas on Friday when I'll be making my way to Dallas.
August 27th, 2012 at 11:20 AM ^
Isaac will really impact Louisiana/Mississippi and western Tennessee/eastern Arkansas. By the time it gets north, it'll be really nothing aside from a low pressure system with rain. You should be OK.
August 27th, 2012 at 12:16 PM ^
Thats exactly what I'll be driving through. Leaving Nashville Friday morning and going through Memphis into Arkansas straight to Dallas. Hopefully its just some rains, and nothing extreme.
August 27th, 2012 at 2:25 PM ^
Rain is all - will only improve the further west you go. Plus, there will be a lot of bands so you may miss rain completely depending on timing.
August 27th, 2012 at 11:31 AM ^
A little worried but nothing we can do now, we are leaving from Kentucky so we get to enjoy the slosh through Tennessee and Arkansas. We are driving straight through so mountains+wife driving first makes me worry for my life.
August 27th, 2012 at 11:34 AM ^
Mountains? What mountains?
August 27th, 2012 at 9:27 PM ^
You are safe from the hurricane.
The West Nile virus on the other hand . . .
August 27th, 2012 at 11:18 AM ^
MAIZE ONLY, please. It makes the crowd look better. It's a bummer that some people still don't know what you're supposed to wear to a game, and end up wearing jerseys or other non-maize colors. If you MUST wear a jersey, at least put a maize zip up hoodie over it.
August 27th, 2012 at 11:46 AM ^
When did this rule of Maize only at games come up? Yes, Maize Outs you have to wear Maize but any other time is fair game. I wear my adidas #2 Home jersey to every home game I'm at unless it's a Maize Out.
August 27th, 2012 at 11:50 AM ^
Maize zip up hoodie works in Michigan. Down here in Arlington, not so much.
August 27th, 2012 at 3:11 PM ^
ha! fair enough!
August 27th, 2012 at 11:56 AM ^
Maize really just looks best on TV, bright, etc.
August 27th, 2012 at 12:18 PM ^
Maize. Must wear maize. The psychological benefit of having all of your fans clearly visible is not something to ignore.
