much good will come of this.

What? Is this a real news story? It reads like something from The Onion.

I like the comparison to The Onion, but the odor emitted from this story, and from the "Mistake by the Lake" itself, is a lot stronger than onions.

Since even LeBron hates Ohio, does that mean that that terrorists also hate Ohio??
August 17th, 2012 at 1:51 PM ^
Not a good argument. Terrorists hate all that is good. If terrorists liked Lebron, that would be an argument against him, but I bet terrorists hate cheeseburgers too, and I love cheeseburgers.

Otherwise, it doesn't bother me. I barely follow the NBA these days except when the Pistons are in the playoffs.
But I could not escape that show. It did not help that the two guys sitting in the cubicles behind me at the time both played college ball and fantasy basketball.

That the State of Ohio, including The University Of Ohio State, are funding terrorism.

You're saying we have to root for Lebron, or the terrorists win?

This was all a part of Skip Bayless' super secret plan to coax bin Laden to appear on ESPN's First Take, where they would hold discussions about such wide ranging topics as, "King James or Queen James?" and,"Tim Tebow: Second coming of Jesus, or infidel who must be purged," while U.S. special forces would prepare to take him down in the penultimate segment of the show. The final segment of the show would have been a debate with the special forces sniper about who was more clutch, U.S. special forces, or Tim Tebow, wherein Skip would side with Tebow.
Unfortunately for Skip (fortunately for everyone else) Seal Team 6 were able to get to bin Laden first.
This however, doesn't stop Skip from taking credit for killing Osama bin Laden, and declaring that a Bayless - Tebow tandem would have not only killed bin Laden, but would have posted a higher QBR doing it.

In reponse to this, I really am getting fed up with ESPN and I'm sure everyone else is. I recently watched the show the lights on NBC sports which is their counter to sportscenter and my initial reaction to it was good. They don't show the anchor at all, he doesn't say any gimmicky lines or try to draw attention to himself, and the best part was there seemed to be no other agenda then to show you highlights of all of the games. I heard that it is a show that runs twenty minutes long and it repeats from 7am to 9am, which is perfect for someone who has to go to work. I was going to make a thread about it, but deemed it unworthy of a thread post and was just wondering if anyone else had watched the show at all and what their thoughts were?

I'm pulling hard for the new NBC channel. The sports world is badly in need of some real competition for ESPN, which has become a corrupt, bloated parasite.

Well my thoughts were pretty positive on it. I watched about ten minutes so my opinion can only be taken so far, but they have a bar at the top of the screen much like ESPN's which tells you what highlights are coming up next and in about 4 minutes they managed to get through 4 baseball games and the Packers/Bengals preseason game. I was rather impressed with that and I did not see a mention of the Jets, Tebow, or the Lakers. It seems like they don't have any type of agenda on that show other than showing pure highlights which is the way I would prefer it. Save the analysis for talk shows like Costas and any other types of shows like that.

Sounds like something I would definitely be interested in watching and I think it's thread worthy to guage the interest/reaction of the blog on the new channel.

Lebron seems like a pretty good guy.

but do know that it failed.

What I've learned the last couple of years is that the best way to get them to talk is to give them either cookies or a cat. You catch more flies with honey than with vinegar, I guess.

What a shit ass story. Cleveland sucks ball sack. Lebron left, and has his title. He's had a pretty good year. I'm a Lebron fan and dont understand the hurt. Again, if "the decision" was his biggest mistake then he must be doing something good.
And if LA wins a title, will Dwight Howard catch a lifetime of shit because he essentially left Orlando to join hall of famers Kobe and Nash. Difference is Dwight was a big ass prima donna, stringing them along for months while Lebron made his decision on an hour long special.

I used to severely dislike him due to naming himself King, and the awful "decision" giant ego show. But he won, and won leading the team this year, and winning validates ego. He now has actual accomplishments, so he's ok in my book

"Warner said Rahim’s sentiments made about James leaving the Cavs are because of his client’s tribal values, in which loyalty is most important and “betrayals are not tolerated or forgiven." - from the story
"This shocking act of disloyalty from our home grown "chosen one" sends the exact opposite lesson of what we would want our children to learn. And "who" we would want them to grow-up to become." - from Dan Gilbert's letter
Rahim didn't perchance work for the Cavaliers at some point, did he?

I too saw the thread title and thought, "WTF?" But then I clicked on the link and read the article, and found it actually quite humorous--because it really is like an Onion story except that it appears to be a real story. I presume that's why this was posted.
Granted, this really is wildly OT. But it is pretty funny. (And also a sad reflection on the state of MSM, as ChiBoyBlue pointed out above).

Lebron's importance in Cleveland pales in comparison to the Browns.
