Taking a 3rd RB

Submitted by Jskohl88 on

According to Derrick Green, via TomVH (information is on the Wolverine Nation forum, LINK), the coaching staff does intend on taking one more RB. I figured we'd leave a spot open for a guy like Isaac anyway just because of how special a talent he is, but I like that we're aiming for a 3rd back, regardless whether it's Isaac, Green, or someone currently not on the radar. We need the depth, we need the talent, and you can never have too many skill players.

Not sure how this will impact the rest of the recruiting class, but I have to think at some point there will be more focus on DT. Fingers remained crossed for Poggi.

Dude...you gotta word it differently in order to come off as more knowledgeable...

...After extensively pouring over Shallmans film, I have come to the educated conclusion that his abilities would translate better to the H-back role and not for running back, like the coaches intend. After speaking with individuals highly connected in the CC program, I further have learned that he wears pink on thursdays, which tells me that he might not run with the drive and power needed in order to be a starting running back at the University of Michigan. Furthermore, our coaches personally told me that both Isaac and Treadwell are silent commits. After establishing a twitter dialogue with the aforementioned silent commits, they have assured me that they are actively recruiting Pocic to our school....

That's how it is done!

In the old days, practically half the recruits Michigan would sign each year would be listed as running backs--then once they got to campus, they would become linebackers, safeties, receivers, etc. It seems like the point was to just take good athletes and figure out where to put them later. Recruiting nowadays seems a lot more specialized, but I still feel like tailback is a position where you can afford to really load up on recruits because if a player doesn't work out there you can often find somewhere else that he can contribute.

This is not a good idea, because people don't think so that are on a blog. Stop Hoke! you must not spend the time many here do evaluating the team.

I think Ty was aloof when he visited AA.  If he had given off a better vibe about coming to UM the coaches would be slow pedaling the other RB’s.

Since he did not commit or give a “I am close to committing” type feeling Hoke is moving forward.  So there are two options in my mind, Ty calls and commits or UM loses its positioning with him as they get other RB’s.

I want Ty but he needs to commit and get “all in”.

Why is everyone so concerned about RB in 2013? We will still have Fitzgerald as starter unless this year he has Heisman-worthy stats (not a bad outcome) and he leaves early. We will have Rawls, Hayes, Norfleet, Houma, Johnson. Then, assuming they sign, we will have Shallman and Smith. Any one of all these guys could end up being a superior RB. My guess is that we need DT depth more than any position, and another safety or CB would be next followed by a tall WR or TE.
