Joe Mathis Update
http://thisismichiganfootball.blogspot.com/2012/03/joe-mathis-update.ht…
Tremendous has an update about Mathis, the #93 prospect in the country (rivals). Mathis will be visiting with his cousin, 5* SU'A CRAVENS!!! They both love Michigan and have been hearing from them ALOT.
Boy named Su('a). I think I'd be alright with Special K pumping out some Johnny Cash.
(if you want to get on the good side of the people this is a perfect opportunity to make Fred Jackson jokes)
I don't think we will get one from Joe Mathis this weekend. Tremendous says that he is making his choice at the Army All-american game.
Yeah, and Joe isn't visiting this weekend. He said he's taking an official visit with Su'a.
I would be plenty happy to leave this weekend with Ty Isaac as the only other committ. There is so much top talent interested in UM. The Spring game weekend is when I hope the bonanza occurs.
But, but, Hoke recruits come in pairs? Does not compute!
A match made in A2!
Where is the AWESOME moderation button?
This is indeed tremendous news. However, I don't see Cravens committing anytime soon. From what I see on his twitter feed, he's loving all the attention. It'll be awhile for him.
Su'a has planned on committing in December for a while now.
we will be offering and getting commits from the 2020 class by December.
Obviously Hoke coached in CA. Were his classes there mostly CA guys? How big of an advantage for recruiting from CA will it likely be in the future?
If we could get both these guys (or just one) that seems like it'd be a huge get!
Hoke's ties to CA date back to his time on Carr's staff, when Carr put him in charge of West Coast recruiting. That's partly how he got the SDSU job. His connections in CA run deep.
We're only writing 10 letters to him? Brady Hoke needs to step it up, Nick Saban is probably writing 105 right now.
Yeah, I don't think Bama is a threat to land him. I was referencing the 105 letters handwritten letters that Nick Saban and his staff wrote to Georgia RB Alvin Kamara.
Do all coaches do the handwritten letter thing? It seems like we've heard a lot more about it since Hoke came in (both from him and from recruits). I would expect once any coaches not doing that found out about the idea though that they would start. If they all do it though, why do the recruits make a big deal out of it?
I'm not sure if all coaches do it. To answer your second question, I would guess that if your dream school is Michigan, Texas, USC, or Ohio, then receiving a handwritten letter from them means a lot more than any other school.
I'm under the impression that most schools send out generic printed letters to each person (hence Alabama sending over 100 letters to someone) and emails. Some schools might go a little crazy with a little handwritten portion on the bottom to make it personal. But not many schools go and write entire handwritten notes. To have all the coaches that are recruiting someone hard write hand written notes, is a bit different.
Our class is going to be filled with really good players. It's not like we're going to have slouches. The question is would you rather have the class full of the type of players we have or would you rather roll the dice on a few five stars at the end? I think I might take the early guaranteed solid class to avoid the risk of losing players to another school.
Fill it up now and let the guys bond over the year. That will help them in the long run.
Of course we could also fill it up now, then start sending current players to St. saban memorial hospital to make room for more studs.
that Hoke and his coaching staff have a plan and they are in full gear Execution. Filling a class early avoids the ultimate "panic" of those last minute decision makers. It could be argued that those types of recruits are "high maintenance" and want the media attention vs wanting a plan for their college football careers anyway.
In just over 1 year Brady Hoke has returned Michigan to a dominate position in football ... yeah, last season exceeded EVERY SINGLE expectation, but the fact that Michigan is once again a National power in recruiting (perhaps more now than EVER !) simply means absolutely GREAT things for the future ... this is not going unnoticed in the B1G !!!
Go Blue!
I like to be the dominant one as I dominate in bed.
We could realistically get 3 commitments this weekend from Isaac, COnley, and maybe even Gedeon. Just pure insane.
Who is Conley? The only Conleys I can find on Rivals are an OLB from TX and an ATH from Massillon
It would seem that a couple 5 Star recruits would want to be the icing on the cake for what is potentially turning into the strongest recruiting class in the country. If you were a 5-star recruit looking for a little publicity (not that I would recommend that course of action), wouldn't being this recruiting class' cherry or three on top seem beneficial and attractive???
I think regardless of who commits, Shane Morris will be the "big name" of this class (since he is probably going to end up being a 5-star and a top-3 QB). I would actually think, much like many players have said, that 5-stars would want to commit because they want to win championships and the best way to do that is to be surrounded by talent. Best way to be surrounded by talent, join a class that is already shaping up to be top-5 or better.
Every time I see his name - Joe Mathis - some combination of Judge Joe Brown and Judge Greg Mathis pops into my head. Strange considering I've never seen either show (and had to verify that it wasn't a single show called Judge Joe Mathis).
If he comes here I think I'll just have to go with Judge Joe Mathis for his nickname in my head.
... if his cousin also goes blue, he'll be know as: A boy named Su'a.
"My name is Su'a. How do you do'a? Now you're gonna die".
I said the same thing earlier in the thread and was labeled as "Trolling". Which mod did you sleep with?
It's not the mods, man, it's all of us. Stop bitching about it and it might stop.
