Brian Kelly..."Where's your Messiah now?"
Two years ago when BK was announced as the replacement of Charlie Weiss their were many on this board that were both concerned he was the next Rockne and wishing he was standing on our own sideline. You know who you are...you are the Edward G. Robinson's of MGoBlog.
After the abomination that was Charlie Weiss I never imagined anyone could be worse when dealing with the media and representing a University but ND found themselves this puple faced Grimace who routinely throws his players under the bus in post game pressers. Last years team was split in loyalty as players recruited by Weiss and supportive of Dayne Crist watched in horror as the kid was vilified by his coach by halftime of the first game. The behavior eventually (purple face) had to be addressed by the ND administration. It is one thing to get upset with a player and give it to him accordingly (see Schembechler) but to humiliate and embarrass both you and the player in the process is uncalled for...I would call Brian a Jackass but why disrespect a Donkey like that?
Besides his poor temperament BK's in game coaching decisions also leave much to be desired. Kelly despises running the football. Running the football in the BK system is a necessary evil as it limits his goal of 60 passes per game. Third and two and Kelly would prefer to spread you 4-5 wide with a 60% chance of throw for the first to 40% run...even if he is playing Navy. Because Kelly insists on throwing 65% of the time the defense is constantly on the field. Although talented the defense does not disguise anything that I can tell. By the third quarter the ND defense is gassed and predictable and plays less then inspired.
So now the offensive coaching staff has been pilfered by Urban Meyer (O-Line coach and Running Backs coach to OSU and three coaches on the offense total) and words like, "synergism" and "shared vision" are coming out of Grimace's mouth now. Purple Face will evaluate anything but himself and you have to love the spin of Urban Meyer raiding your staff as a chance to evaluate...

You have to evaluate coaches. And today was to announce what I believe are some significant improvements within our staff that are going to allow us to move forward. We believe our foundation has been set.”
So I believe it shows itself when you get into the practice area, it shows itself on game day. And when you have that, where everybody's on the same page, that's where it becomes, nobody sees it. 'Boy they look pretty good today.' Well, it's probably because we're all on the same page."
Brian Kelly is in a most delightful of ND schadenfreude coaching death spirals to date. His demise is inevitable because at the end of the day he just cant be anything but himself both on and off the field.

I really doubt that. Kelly has deep roots in the state and had been killing it everywhere before 2010. 3&O mentions he was one of the first names brought up in 2007, but his...personality was well known to senior AD staffers.

Actually, after Coach Carr stepped down, when it appeared as though the "Les Miles to Michigan" train had been derailed for the second (or maybe third) time, several on this blog, including Brian Cook himself, were advocating that Kelly get more consideration for the job. Many posters were baffled that names like Ferentz and Shiano and *gasp* Brady Hoke were being bandied about while BK, fresh off of revitalizing CMU and restoring the glory at Cincy was getting no love.
Brian (Cook) mentioned at one point that he'd heard through sources that BK wasn't being considered because many within the AD's office thought he was a hothead and a jerk. the Mgoblog community, by and large, dismissed the talk, noting that Bo was a hothead too and turned out to be, well, everything we want in a coach.
Now, of course, we've all learned what the administration apparently already knew five years ago; Brian Kelly is an assbag.

I was brought in by the promise that Kelly had said something really stupid and/or offensive by comparing someone to the Messiah. I was looking forward to fresh ND'freud. Instead, I got a post that told us what we already knew - Kelly seems like a turd. A title like "I Hate Freaking Brian Kelly!!!!!" would have been more acurate for the actual content. Also, I would have skipped it.

I’m not going to talk about Brian Kelly today. I’m not going to take a question about him. I’m going to talk about these comments right here. Anybody hasn’t read these comment — I don’t read them, but they were brought to me by a mother.... of children. Think this they are worth reading.
I want to talk about these comments. Three-fourths of them is inaccurate. They're fiction and these comment embarrasses me to be involved with mgoblog tremendously. These comments had to have been written by a people that don’t have a child and has never had a child that’s had their heart broken and come home upset! And had to deal with the child when he is upset! And kick a person when he’s down!
Here’s all this thread strarter did! He posted here! He was respectful to other posters! It’s highly direspectful to the coach of a rival team! And he's a good poster, and he’s not a professionalmgoposter and doesn’t deserve to be kicked when he’s down.
If you have a child someday, you’ll understand how it feels. But you obviously don’t have a child. I do. If your child goes down the street and somebody makes fun of him because he dropped a pass in a pickup game, or says he’s fat, and he comes home crying to his mom, you’d understand. But you haven’t had that.
Someday you will and when your child comes home, you’ll understand. If you want to go after a poster— one of my favorite posters — you go after one who doesn’t hate the right things! You don’t downgrade it because it hates Brian Kelly a lot and may not use grammar as well on Thursday! And you let me make that decision!
That’s why I don’t read the posts! Because they're garbage! And the people who agreed with them are garbage! Attacking an amateur poster doing everything right! And then you want to make comments about posters who don’t do things right and downgrade them, the ones that do make conjugations properly.
Are you kidding me? Where are we at in society today? Come after me! I'm a long time poster! I have four hundred points! I'm not a kid! Write something about me! Or another experienced poster. Don’t go after a new poster that just hates Brian Kelly, whose heart is broken, and then say that it might be pooly worded! That ain’t fair!

Except the last part about Kelly's demise. Every ND coach will meet the same 4 or 5 year demise until ND realizes it isn't ND anymore and the college football landscape isn't the same as it once was and kids just don't see the glory in ND the way they used to.
No one gives a damn about them because they aren't in a conference, can't play for a conference championship and have a schedule that is boring as hell outside of their Michigan/USC and recently Stanford encounters. No one cares that you can beat Navy or Air Force. They play on a network that no one watches on Saturday because the SEC, Big 10 and Pac 10 aren't on it. Hell even the Network moved ND to its distant cable station.

Wow! I must admit I did not see that coming. Having contributed to the community for over two years with what some find entertaining snark (even recognized by Brian as such) I would have thought I might have been cut some slack.
I grew up inner city Chicago and was fortunate to graduate High School. I am the only member of my family to have ever attended/graduated college and obviously not an institution as academically recognized as Michigan.
My Father was born in AA (Pioneer HS) but when his friends went to college he was fighting in Vietnam so I became a fan from his love for the University. So forgive me in thinking I might have had some place here, I did not realize a simple post that I thought was on topic could bring that response.
It was very nice to read from the many that supported a simple contribution from a simple guy.
