OT: Stefon Diggs to... MD??
106.7 the fan in DC is reporting that Stefon Diggs will hold a press conference today at Looney's in College Park MD to announce where he will attend college.
Just passing along the info but apparently MD is now a favorite due to the recruiting of coach Locksley.

Interesting, had a feeling that Ohio was gonna be his choice with Urban opening the spot up at the exact same time. I guess the two are unrelated. Huge get for the terps.
February 10th, 2012 at 8:03 AM ^
Besides, Urban would have to find another criminal to cut in order to take Diggs.
February 10th, 2012 at 4:37 PM ^
Why would he even think about Ohio. Braxton will not do him justice in college.

Who doesn't dream of wearing a uniform that resembles the state flag of Maryland. I can only hope Michigan does the same thing in the future, I would love to see those deer on the helmet of Shane Morris.

It's a moose and an elk.
February 10th, 2012 at 9:01 AM ^
Damn, you are right.
I guess I never looked that close before, all I remember was antlers.
February 10th, 2012 at 9:05 AM ^
Well, technically you are right. They are deer.

Had a client in NC take me to one of their local HS football games. We got there a little after kickoff and had to park a ways from the stadium. While walking I hear the PA announcer say what sounds like first down _ucking Elks. The client can tell I'm shocked by this and says to me it just sounds like that from here the school's nickname is the Bucking Elks.

has a team called the Fighting Quakers. "Elks" is pretty insignificant in the grand scheme of things.

is a train wreck right now. Their QB is seriously thinking about transfering. A place called Looney's is the right place to announce going to MD if that happens.
February 10th, 2012 at 9:01 AM ^
(Per listening to 106.7) 22 players have left so far. The QB is graduating this spring and is reported to be leaving to do that Masters type deal.
February 10th, 2012 at 10:57 AM ^
February 10th, 2012 at 2:59 PM ^
on both counts. Graduating in 3 years.

Guess that's what happens when you fire the conference coach of the year to hire the football coach from a basketball school. I think Friedgen put a curse on Maryland when he burned his diploma.
February 10th, 2012 at 12:31 PM ^
Yeah, that was a real dumb move. It's not like they fired Friedgen for Vince Lombardi either. Not surprised this isn't working out well.

Let's not just assume he's a lock for Maryland just because he's announcing in College Park. About a week ago Jeremy Liggins of Oxford, MS announced at a restaurant in the middle of Oxford Square that he was choosing LSU over Ole Miss. That is some mighty advanced trolling for an 18-year old.
February 10th, 2012 at 8:21 AM ^
Robin of Locksley is Maryland's coach? I could imagine his recruiting being top notch.
February 10th, 2012 at 9:16 AM ^
after what he's done at SFU with Big Will Scarlett and "Little" John.
February 10th, 2012 at 9:42 AM ^
lolz but no Mike Locksley former New Mexico coach and great recruiter (Vernon Davis)
February 10th, 2012 at 10:21 AM ^
Wow, Sir Locksley must be one hell of a recruiter to convince anyone to play in his offense. HAHAHAHA! 2-26 and sexual harassment claims (later retracted) all in one while at New Mexico.
Calling Stefon's parents, hello?
February 10th, 2012 at 11:20 AM ^
He definitely had a rough first year, but I think given time he's a pretty good coach and can turn Maryland around.
He did about as well as could be expected at UConn with absolutely no talent, and now he's in a much better recruiting hotbed with more tradition.

I saw Stefon and his teammate, Wes Brown, play in a playoff game in person and they seemed to have a tight connection on the sideline as good friends. Since Wes Brown committed to the Terps already, Stefon may have Wes in his ear to play with him so not only the pull of staying close to home is on Stefon's mind, but also the chance to play with a good friend for up to four years. Now obviously observing friendship from a sideline point of view with high school kids is something to take with a grain of salt, but I'm just saying it wouldn't shock me if Stefon did indeed pick the Terps tonight.
February 10th, 2012 at 8:28 AM ^
Go to Maryland, Stefon! Become a Terp.
February 10th, 2012 at 8:39 AM ^
Just have to wonder about some of these decisions... Best of luck to him.
February 10th, 2012 at 8:50 AM ^
Better there than in that state south of us.
February 10th, 2012 at 9:03 AM ^
Alex Kozan? Will he even play football in college?
February 10th, 2012 at 9:43 AM ^
Is a smoke screen...he is announcing his OV to UM this weekend, and flying later on today to AA.
Hello post to follow ....
February 10th, 2012 at 9:50 AM ^
thank god urban might lose out on at least one recruit this year
February 10th, 2012 at 9:52 AM ^
Wouldn't be surprised. There was some noise late in the process that MD would be his eventual choice.
February 10th, 2012 at 10:08 AM ^
No f-ing way this kid goes to Maryland. I'll be every person in this thread a steak dinner Diggs does not go to Maryland.

Yep, I too am just here for the free steak dinner.
February 10th, 2012 at 12:50 PM ^
I'm here for the gangbang?
February 10th, 2012 at 10:48 AM ^
As a Maryland fan who has continued to follow his recruitment I will gladly take you up on that bet. The reason diggs didn't announce on signing day was because he was going to visit MD that weekend and that was his last visit, all the chatter right now has the terps as his favorite and while I know MD is joke and edsall is a terrible coach MD currently has more players in the NFL than michigan so its not like going there is the end of his career.
February 10th, 2012 at 11:22 AM ^
According to the Alumni Tracker on CBSSports.com:
Maryland has 34 players currently in the NFL.
Michigan is listed as having 40.

This list only has michigan with 28 but I'd be happy to be wrong since i'm well a michigan fan. My post was mainly to point out that MD is actually near the top in terms of putting players into the nfl including a couple top 10 picks in the last few years, and just used michigan since I figured it would impress people here more.
February 10th, 2012 at 11:01 AM ^
I'll take my steak medium rare, please.
February 10th, 2012 at 11:19 AM ^
If you're busy being everyone else in this thread, who's going to be you? I'd like to nominate myself, since you're going to be me, I'll have a lot of free time on my hands. How about it?
February 10th, 2012 at 2:43 PM ^
I thought he said that he would be the steak and we could eat him.
February 10th, 2012 at 11:52 AM ^
Bloomin Onion then an 11 ounce outback special please. Unless you're in the Ann Arbor area, then I'd like to go to Knight's Steakhouse. TIA
