OT: Week 17 NFL open thread
Big games today, a lot is still on the line in a few matchups.
Cowboys vs Giants- Winner wins the NFC East
Lions vs Packers- Aaron Rodgers is inactive today, giving the Lions a chance to clinch the 5th seed. It would also be the Lions first victory in Green Bay in 19 years.
Bengals vs Ravens- Huge game for both teams. The Bengals are in a win and you're in situation. For the Ravens, they could go from a first round bye, to the 5th seed, having to win three straight road games.
Colts vs Jaguars-A colts victory, kicks them out of the first pick, assuming as expected, that the Rams lose to the 49ers.
Rams vs 49ers- Rams clinch the 1st overall pick, with a loss, and a Colts win.
The 49ers and the Saints are still fighting for the first round bye, but with the 49ers only needing a win to clinch, against the lowly Rams, this point seems moot.
Happy New Years to all of you great guys on Mgoblog, enjoy some great food and football today.

should be some good games today. I just hope the cowboys lose.
January 1st, 2012 at 12:30 PM ^
It's an abomination that there's no college football today. Why am I forced to watch bad teams play the good teams that are all resting their starters in place of the ROSE BOWL and the like?
January 1st, 2012 at 1:14 PM ^
The NFL rules the sports television world whether you like it or not.
January 1st, 2012 at 1:38 PM ^
but you're putting probably the most boring/meaningless week of the NFL season on TV in place of BCS bowls
January 1st, 2012 at 3:07 PM ^
on Jan 1st is not right. I prefer college football over the NFL by a huge margin, rather pissed that I am stuck watching the NFL today. I honestly can't think of one thing that makes the NFL more appealing than college ball.
January 1st, 2012 at 12:45 PM ^
Im posting from section 107 in Lambeau field. Flynn will start insted of ARod. My blind faith in the team says we're going to keep this streak alive. Go Pack Go!
January 1st, 2012 at 1:24 PM ^
Go Lions!
January 1st, 2012 at 12:52 PM ^
The fudge packers blow. I like the NFL, but would much rather watch bowl games today. Many of us work tomorrow! I would rather watch paint dry than three fudge packers play without Rodgers. Didn't the packers worship farva (supertroopers)?
January 1st, 2012 at 12:52 PM ^
Woodson, Matthews, Starks and Buluga also are all inactive. This should more than cancel out Green Bay's weather advantage if the Lions play well.
January 1st, 2012 at 1:13 PM ^
He can't even handle kickoffs. McCarthy might cut his ass at halftime.
January 1st, 2012 at 1:27 PM ^
Awesome to see Arrington playing and making a big catch for the Saints!
January 1st, 2012 at 2:26 PM ^
a) Lions defense getting schooled by a backup QB
b) Referees confirming a call that was absolutely indisputable
c) Green Bay bumpkins chanting and hollering over a game that is meaningless to them
January 1st, 2012 at 2:25 PM ^
These are the worst refs I have ever seen. Both fumble calls were ridiculous.
As I type this justice was served. Pick by Smith.
January 1st, 2012 at 2:29 PM ^
Titus Young with a FANTASTIC touchdown catch which was, of course, called incomplete.
Fucking Fuck. Just... Fuck.
Fuck.
January 1st, 2012 at 2:30 PM ^
Complete bullshit. Fucking fuckety fuck.
January 1st, 2012 at 2:27 PM ^
Fucking redneck officials blowing the last challenge may have cost the Lions a touchdown due to no challenges.
Kill these guys.
January 1st, 2012 at 2:29 PM ^
And we get jobbed by those BS fumble calls. Now the Lions lose a TD because they can't challenge. Great catch by Titus Young.
January 1st, 2012 at 2:29 PM ^
a steaming pile of dog feces served up by these refs.
January 1st, 2012 at 2:30 PM ^
What a bunch of zebra stripped bums. Someone should find them after the game and kick their ass. Fuck them. I beside myself. This is chicken shit.
January 1st, 2012 at 2:30 PM ^
Like a crazy balaclava thing?
January 1st, 2012 at 2:31 PM ^
Apparently if you're the Lions, TDs are worth 3 points.
January 1st, 2012 at 2:31 PM ^
These refs are perfect evidence that Goodell is the worst fucking commissioner ever. Fuck him and his biased refs.
January 1st, 2012 at 2:32 PM ^
FFFFFFFFuck!!!! This shit!!!!
January 1st, 2012 at 2:33 PM ^
How do we manage to get screwed over multiple times in the same game
January 1st, 2012 at 2:36 PM ^
officials as well. No excuse for them not to buzz down to the officials to look at the play again. The replay booth had plenty of time to look at it. No idea what they are being paid for, that is inexcuscable.
The play does not have to be challenged to be reviewed, and quite frankly that shouldn't have required a challenge even if they had one.
January 1st, 2012 at 3:08 PM ^
No, it's not. They don't have the option of calling down a review of a ruling of 'not touchdown'. It's on the fucking incompetent shitbird ref who was 5 feet away but couldn't manage to see the second foot come down. Fuck these refs. Fuck them in their ficking asses
January 1st, 2012 at 2:34 PM ^
I think GB's TD should get them 3 points.
January 1st, 2012 at 2:34 PM ^
January 1st, 2012 at 2:36 PM ^
I'm a Packers fan and I think that was BS call too.
January 1st, 2012 at 2:37 PM ^
and don't give a shit what you think...
January 1st, 2012 at 2:39 PM ^
I'm going to go burn one and hopefully calm down...Fuck this..
January 1st, 2012 at 2:37 PM ^
January 1st, 2012 at 2:46 PM ^
It'd be worth it. These refs should be killed.
January 1st, 2012 at 2:58 PM ^
I'm really hoping he just lays into the refs in the post-game conference. I don't care if he ends up sounds like a crazy conspiracy theorist, that's how pissed I am right now.
January 1st, 2012 at 2:37 PM ^
Wow. Just wow. Fuck this. I am done. I am going for a run before I put my fist through a wall or my tv.
January 1st, 2012 at 2:38 PM ^
This has been ths worst officiated game this season. WTF.
January 1st, 2012 at 2:38 PM ^
MIke Pereira is a totally fucking moron. Listening to him makes my ears bleed.
January 1st, 2012 at 2:41 PM ^
He is a fucking retard. Of course he is going to side with his paid off buddies. What a chicken shit crock.
January 1st, 2012 at 2:39 PM ^
Do these chickenshit refs care AT ALL that they have fucked the Lions in the ass when there is incidental contact on a pass that was arguably uncatchable? NOPE. 21-yard penalty to set up another GB score.
THESE FAT IDIOTS ARE BEING TOLD TO SCREW THE LIONS! I DON'T CARE HOW CRAZY I SOUND!
January 1st, 2012 at 2:40 PM ^
Get the fucking college rules. It is not that hard. However that still doesn't fix the home cooking in green bay.
January 1st, 2012 at 2:41 PM ^
Time to rise above the shit and win anyway. Go Lions!
January 1st, 2012 at 2:42 PM ^
Hard to beat the pack and their zebra colored buddies.
January 1st, 2012 at 2:43 PM ^
It is but it isn't impossible.
January 1st, 2012 at 2:42 PM ^
I'm surprised they didn't call that Titus attempt a fumble and GB's ball.
January 1st, 2012 at 2:43 PM ^
the booth could buzz down to the officials on any play to look at again, regardless of whether there is a challenge or not. Or is that not the case?
January 1st, 2012 at 2:46 PM ^
January 1st, 2012 at 2:46 PM ^
Only in the last 2 minutes of a half. Or on plays thatg are ruled as scoring plays on the field.
