Future at QB
We've been talking the last few weeks about what our offense might evolve into over the next 5 years. The consensus seems to be that Michigan will drop the spread and get drop back guys with agility.
My question for the recruiting gurus is this. Is Jayru Campbell on track to be the kind of qb that makes you question your philosophy? I've only seen highlights, but winning the state champ as a freshmen is pretty sick. I know it is a few years off, but is he supposed to be a Pryor like recruit?
If that is the case can you imagine the internet during his recruitment with Meyer vs Hoke and the rumors of promises made and style of play preferences.

thats all I need to say...

Did Gardener get his medical redshirt for last year? Or will we only have him for 2013 after Denard graduates?
Which would mean 2014 is Morris or Bellomy, I assume.

NCAA decides at the end of Gardner's 4th year if he gets it or not. We submitted the paperwork, but the NCAA sucking like it does, won't tell us until the end of Devin's 4th year.

GAH... that's terrible. Perhaps he should get the occasional "back injury" therapy now and then to bolster his case?
I hope Bellomy gets some PT next year, even if in garbage time. I'm curious to see how he can play.

I'm pretty sure he was joking. But good answer.

No I wasn't joking. I didn't know how or when that medical redshirt thing worked.

Ahh ok. The Devin Gardner redshirt question is kind of a running joke around here.

This is one of the dummer threads I've seen on here. Hell, everyone knows that the world is ending next year!!

I believe the word you were looking for was Dumber.

Some German killjoy says we're misreading the Mayan text, and it's just the start of a new cycle, not the end of the world.
P.S.
This thread rallied.

Luckily Jayru goes to the U-M pipeline that is cass tech, so that will increase our chances. Also, as stated he just finished his freshman year, it's silly to discuss his recruitment already.

If only it was this cute...
...Proceed.

If I had a guess at our QB depth for the next 6 years, it would be this -
2012-13 Denard Robinson, Devin Gardner, Russell Bellomy
2013-14 Devin Gardner, Russell Bellomy, Shane Morris (RS)
2014-15 Devin Gardner (pending MRS), Russell Bellomy, Shane Morris
2015-16 Shane Morris, ?
2016-17 Shane Morris, ?
2017-18 Shane Morris, ?
Yes, no, maybe?

Im looking to get married in the next two years and my son will graduate high school in 2038. Do you think Hoke will recruit him?

If you're the girl in the avatar, I know lots of available dudes.

If you're thinking of John Ferrara's girlfriend...that's not her.
December 2nd, 2011 at 4:18 PM ^
When you mention it...it was.
December 2nd, 2011 at 11:59 AM ^
or option QB?
December 2nd, 2011 at 12:24 PM ^
If your son graduates in 2038 does that mean he will be 28 then?

Wtf? R u even talking about weirdo
December 2nd, 2011 at 11:54 AM ^
I can't wait for Jayru Campbell to lead Michigan to a Rose Bowl win as a 5th year senior in 2019!!!
December 2nd, 2011 at 12:39 PM ^
Is it possible that we could withhold judgment until he's being recruited AND above the age of majority?

You've had a rough season. Take a break, reflect on your life, then come back and try again.

I'm hoping Borges takes a fancy to mobile QB play and recruits accordingly because the last thing I want to see 3 years from now is flashbacks to Henne/Smith where the games are decided by one simple datapoint - QB mobility.
December 2nd, 2011 at 2:20 PM ^
Yeah, it would really suck having an Andrew Luck or Matt Barkley taking the snaps from under center for us.
Sigh...
BTW, in '06, Troy Smith rushed for less than 150 yards on the year.
December 2nd, 2011 at 5:37 PM ^
Neither played at Michigan... Sigh.
December 2nd, 2011 at 2:22 PM ^
We should be recruiting Pop Warner!

He doesn't like the cold weather and he hopes to be recruited by Texas and Miami. I don't think he ends up at Michigan regardless of who his coach is.
December 2nd, 2011 at 6:52 PM ^
1) Devin Gardner
2) Shane Morris
I'm so blinded by the awesomeness of those two options that I'm not even thinking about what comes next.
