Dave Brandon > Gene Smith
November 28th, 2011 at 5:35 PM ^
Gene Smith is probably gone soon. He basically had no involvement in recruiting Meyer to ohio.
November 28th, 2011 at 5:22 PM ^
Hopefully Meyer doesn't fire Gee on his first day.
November 28th, 2011 at 5:23 PM ^
I dunno, that would work just fine for me . . . .
November 28th, 2011 at 5:23 PM ^
Smith said Meyer "gets it" twice.
November 28th, 2011 at 5:23 PM ^
"He gets it." I burst out laughing.
November 28th, 2011 at 5:23 PM ^
This is the strangest presser I've ever seen.
November 28th, 2011 at 6:05 PM ^
Their media is a bunch of panzies compared to what our coaches have had to deal with. Just lobbed him a bunch of softballs.
They should have asked him about the reaction of UF fans thinking he's abandoned them to go to another program. They should have also asked him about all the arrests that happened under his watch at UF.

12. Ohio State will commit to working with Coach to create the Urban Meyer Fellowship for Ethics and Leadership in Sports for one or more students at The Ohio State University. Coach agrees to teach and support the fellowship initiative and work with the University to secure additional financial support to endow this initiative.
HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAH
November 28th, 2011 at 6:24 PM ^
Fellowship for Academic Leadership and Sports Ethics, or FALSE for short.
November 28th, 2011 at 8:14 PM ^
I did not even see that but such a complete title for him.
November 28th, 2011 at 9:21 PM ^
There's a saying one of my professors always used when he finished a story, "If it isn't true, it should be." That's this.
November 28th, 2011 at 5:24 PM ^
Great timing huh ? lets change the subject off that 40-34 heart breaker ASAP
November 28th, 2011 at 5:26 PM ^
And distract from the first ever Big Ten Championship Game that two other programs will duke out.
November 28th, 2011 at 5:31 PM ^
I'm suprised they didn't announce it a half-hour after the game. Or even during it.
November 28th, 2011 at 5:24 PM ^
Smelling fear in gene smith towards recruiting. He just said all kids grow up to want to play college only at osu if their from Ohio. I've never heard a AD talk about recruiting like this at a presser. Im lovin hoke even more.
November 28th, 2011 at 5:29 PM ^
The NCAA's Sword of Damocles over the athletic program is an added plus.
Bonus points if they actually take away more schollies/postseason ban.
November 28th, 2011 at 5:29 PM ^
Especially if their last name is Woodson. Or Manningham. Or Koger, or Toussaint, or Kalis, or Strobel...
November 28th, 2011 at 7:09 PM ^
November 28th, 2011 at 7:20 PM ^
...had 31 players from Ohio, if you include the freshmen.
November 28th, 2011 at 7:28 PM ^
Zoltan Mesko? There's only one Space Emperor
November 28th, 2011 at 8:51 PM ^
Elvis Grbac, plus current starters Jake Ryan, Kovacs, Omameh, kinda Jibreel Black, in addtion to those already listed.
November 28th, 2011 at 5:25 PM ^
Not too inspiring there Urbs...really couldn't memorize any of it?
November 28th, 2011 at 5:27 PM ^
Does anyone have a link?
November 28th, 2011 at 5:34 PM ^
Lifesaver. Thanks
November 28th, 2011 at 5:27 PM ^
He doesnt look to healthy...
November 28th, 2011 at 5:27 PM ^
Health-wise question asked
"I feel fantastic"
"I'M CONVINCED I WAS DONE COACHING"
Liar
November 28th, 2011 at 6:21 PM ^
I never thought this before (probably didn't think too much about him before) but I think he comes across as disingenuous, at best, and all out liar, at worst.
November 28th, 2011 at 7:00 PM ^
Urban talk just watching him answer questions all I could think was LIAR! It has nothing to do with how he left Fla with his supposed health issues. Just looking at him and the way he carries himself and his expressions answering questions just get that feeling.
November 28th, 2011 at 5:28 PM ^
"There's nothing broke at OSU"
Yes. He gets it.
November 28th, 2011 at 5:32 PM ^
of isolated incidents is not indicative of a problem. It's not like there was repeated conduct by some players, or several players availing themselves of the same illegal benefits or coverups/whitewashes/baldfaced lying denials/kangaroo investigations or anything.
November 28th, 2011 at 5:48 PM ^
he meant to say "no one's broke at OSU"
ka-ching!
November 28th, 2011 at 5:30 PM ^
I didn't expect him to have a full staff in place yet, but I thought he might at least introduce a grad assistant or two.
November 28th, 2011 at 5:31 PM ^
Adam Sandler will be retained.
November 28th, 2011 at 5:31 PM ^
Urban sounds like he does research the same way that Pryor did
November 28th, 2011 at 5:31 PM ^
November 28th, 2011 at 5:32 PM ^
Urban's first mistake: "I have great trust in our athletic director and president." Fear level: 0. This man is a fool.
November 28th, 2011 at 5:43 PM ^
Gene Smith: "I trust our student athletes."
A bit less trust and a bit more attention to compliance would do them a world of good.
November 28th, 2011 at 5:33 PM ^
Nearly 20 minutes into the pressed no mention of Michigan
November 28th, 2011 at 5:37 PM ^
Meyer does not get it
November 28th, 2011 at 5:40 PM ^
would be OK with me
November 28th, 2011 at 5:33 PM ^
Hey dumbass it's called The Game, not "the big game." This guy doesn't get it.
November 28th, 2011 at 9:18 PM ^
in the Pac-12 now?
November 28th, 2011 at 5:34 PM ^
Saying he's from "Bucknuts.Com" must make that dude feel like an idiot.
