Well, good luck to him. I actually believe that, with the right staff, he would make an impact in the Pac-12.
November 21st, 2011 at 8:46 PM ^
RR is a good coach, especially on offense, but I have a feeling he may have learned a lesson at Michigan that he needs to actually focus on defense also.
November 21st, 2011 at 11:13 PM ^
that I won't have to hear this meme rehearsed too many more thousands of times. The notion that anyone who got as far as RR has not caring about D is ludicrous. Read Bacon; follow what happened for Cripes' sake. He had a GREAT D coordinator in Casteel. He tried to get him here twice. Crikey.
November 21st, 2011 at 9:12 PM ^
Did the Arizona AD read 3 and Out because he should have?
Anyone want to bet RR pulls out the monkey from the Lion King story about his defense and his time in Ann Arbor?
I wonder if our Pitt transfers are now headed out west.
November 22nd, 2011 at 8:39 AM ^
Here's hoping you become the new power in the Pac 12.
November 21st, 2011 at 8:16 PM ^
I really wish him the best of luck at Arizona. There is lots of talent out west that he can use.

For his sake he should not hire Tony Gibson because he gets minus all if the points.
November 21st, 2011 at 8:28 PM ^
A lot of talent, but unfortunately the resources at Arizona aren't great. Until the athletic department steps up its facilities, RR could have some trouble.
With that said, I wish him the best of luck. If he has any assemblance of a defense there, he will do well. Having only to compete with USC in the PAC-12 South will give him a chance to make a BCS bowl in the future.
November 21st, 2011 at 8:51 PM ^
He did ok with limited resources at WVU.
November 21st, 2011 at 8:56 PM ^
WVU actually has excellent facilities. Football is king there.
November 21st, 2011 at 9:07 PM ^
If you read three and out you would have read about the field at salem college that had no grass. Besides, most recruits in ncaa 12 have athletic facilities at very low or least in the interest scale.
November 21st, 2011 at 9:20 PM ^
Best of luck to Coach R. Hope we meet you again in a bowl someday.
November 21st, 2011 at 9:34 PM ^
Seems like nothing will come of that but hurt feelings.
November 21st, 2011 at 10:01 PM ^
It depends on the bowl game.
That would make one HELL of a Rose Bowl.
November 22nd, 2011 at 12:11 AM ^
and I'm happy for him. I'll be rooting for him
November 21st, 2011 at 8:17 PM ^
Fuck. I can't root for him now. Go Devils!
November 21st, 2011 at 8:50 PM ^
Go Devils as well. I wish he went anywhere but U of A. Oh well, goodluck except when you play ASU.
November 21st, 2011 at 8:55 PM ^
I think you mean Go Wildcats!
I'm really glad RR landed at a D1 job with a team I have no problem rooting for. We will never face them outside of the Rose Bowl, and I've never had an interest in the Pac 12 before now. I finally have a team to watch for in the late games.
November 21st, 2011 at 9:04 PM ^
They are reffering to the instate rivalry.
November 21st, 2011 at 8:17 PM ^
Good luck to RR. I wish him the best, no hard feelings, k?
November 21st, 2011 at 8:17 PM ^
First time I've heard about this!!
November 21st, 2011 at 8:18 PM ^
Can't wait for a Michigan v. Arizona Rose Bowl!
November 21st, 2011 at 8:19 PM ^
I think it'd be really fun if Arizona eventually deployed a high flying spread offense like Oregon and the two duked it out year in and year out in the Pac-12. Looks like I've got a 2nd team to cheer for!
November 21st, 2011 at 8:39 PM ^
think they won't??
November 22nd, 2011 at 1:15 PM ^
have a Phil Knight?
November 22nd, 2011 at 1:35 PM ^
no but they have a Phil Mickelson.... not that it's anywhere on the same $$$$$ level.
November 21st, 2011 at 8:20 PM ^
I predict in his opening press conference he will predict that Rhett will be the future quarterback at Arizona. :-)
I hope he does great out there and that he can get U of A to the Rose Bowl!
November 21st, 2011 at 8:22 PM ^
For some reason, I think I am permanately scarred from the defenses of RR, and I just cant possibly see him having a good team at AZ.... I will definitely root for him, but I just have nightmares of the beaver stuffed animal in Demen's face...
(However, I'm sure he will do fine there and have some great seasons... Good Luck RR!)
November 21st, 2011 at 8:22 PM ^
It is also now posted on the University of Arizona, Football website. News conference set for tomorrow. Wish him luck.
November 21st, 2011 at 8:39 PM ^
You totally could have started a thread with this information..........
November 21st, 2011 at 8:22 PM ^
Big fan of this move by both parties. Good luck to RR. Im going to enjoy watching Arizona develop into force out in the PAC 12.
November 21st, 2011 at 8:51 PM ^
If the timeline had been a bit different, maybe it could have even been a QBForce.
November 21st, 2011 at 8:23 PM ^
I hope he has a happy and stress free time there
November 21st, 2011 at 8:23 PM ^
If/When he gets that program going, Oregon vs. Arizona will be a fun game to watch.
November 21st, 2011 at 8:23 PM ^
Is he immediately taking over? Like, he's the coach this upcoming Saturday?
November 21st, 2011 at 8:30 PM ^
My hunch is no, but it allows Arizona to hit the ground running for recruiting purposes. He gets brought in before the end of the season, recruits know who their coach will be = better chance of class continuity.
November 21st, 2011 at 9:07 PM ^
What would he accomplish Saturday by standing on the sidelines clueless about the current offense/defense and coaching the team???
Well, I suppose that worked for Paterno.
November 21st, 2011 at 8:24 PM ^
I really did like him, not as a coach so much, but maybe as like a guy I would want my dad to be friends with.

November 21st, 2011 at 8:26 PM ^
Arizona is a great program for him. He'll have time to build a program there without the pressures that a place like UM will bring. Plus if he can crack the California and Texas recruiting scenes he can build Arizona into strong program. Great move U of A. His kids should enjoy it out there too.
November 21st, 2011 at 8:34 PM ^
good luck rich rod, good move by Arizona because Rod is still a great offensive mind. hopefully for his sake he has a defense.
November 21st, 2011 at 8:31 PM ^
Arizona has still never played in the Rose Bowl, right? Here's hoping we're there as well the first time he takes them.
I wonder who his DC will be...
November 21st, 2011 at 8:44 PM ^
Annnnnnd we beat the ever living shit out of them if it happens.
No offense, Rich, but, well, Go Blue and all that.
November 21st, 2011 at 8:32 PM ^
to go to the practice after the Illinois game last year. I went to the practice because I had a meeting with Coach Rod after it was over. We talked in his office for about two hours. He was an awesome guy that just wanted time to get the team ready. I believe he will do good out there. Best of luck to him out there.
November 21st, 2011 at 8:47 PM ^
Are you a player, reporter, friend?
November 21st, 2011 at 8:54 PM ^
none of the above. I met some people at lasts years Illinois game that knew him. I was in the military and recieved the purple heart. I presented the purple heart to him to give to the team for all the wounds they were taking in there battles.
November 21st, 2011 at 9:20 PM ^
Thanks for your service and sacrifice. You are a better man than I could hope to be.
November 21st, 2011 at 9:29 PM ^
Thank you. No matter how many times people thank me for it, it still means a lot.
November 21st, 2011 at 9:00 PM ^
Are you a player, reporter, friend?
Cheerleader.
EDIT: Damn, now after seeing your response I feel like a dick. Good for you, and thank you for your service. I'll leave my comment up to get negged like I deserve.November 21st, 2011 at 9:32 PM ^
to neg you. If I had enough points, I would have voted it funny. It took me a minute, then I realized what was said then I busted up laughing.
November 21st, 2011 at 8:36 PM ^
Can not wait for Arizona vs. Oregon in a few years. I live a few hours from Tucson, I'll definitely be stopping in next season.
