Would you consider Denard the

Would you consider Denard the best of that bunch if they were all switched to running back?  I can't imagine Vince Young being as good as Denard out of the backfield.

We've been friends since 3rd

We've been friends since 3rd grade.  I'm stuck with him.  And his wife.

To give an example

He's one of those guys who believes Babe Ruth's stats shouldn't be considered as impressive because he played before black men were allowed in the league.

And to clarify, he's not saying Denard's career wasn't impressive.  He's talking about the comparison to Michigan running backs at the top of the rushing record list like Hart, Wheatley, etc.

I think he's talking about

I think he's talking about the block on Te'o 10 yards downfield on Denard's 87 yard TD run.  There wasn't much pulling there, he just headed downfield and did to Te'o exactly what you're supposed to do to a linebacker:  rode him 8 yards before putting him on his back.

Wire him every week, please.

Wire him every week, please.

"Craig Ross, author of The

"Craig Ross, author of The Obscene Diaries of a Michigan Fan, told me that Carr attempted to "minimize the vagaries of talent and injuries"."

Isn't that exactly why RR started using the spread in the first place?  To minimize the vagaries... well, deficiencies of talent he had when he started coaching?

Meatchicken is one of many

Meatchicken is one of many terrible alterations of Meeechigan.  I've heard it before.

You probably all know this,

You probably all know this, but Tom Brady scored what was up to that point the lowest 40 time for a QB in the history of the NFL combine.

It was beaten later that same day by Chris Redman of Louisville, and like twice again since.

His standing vertical was something historically bad, too.

I've watched that clip 15

I've watched that clip 15 times and I still can't figure out how he did that.

I remember that.  I think it

I remember that.  I think it was just "hoss", though.  I could be wrong.

Paraphrasing from the introduction

before the 1991 FSU game:

"When you venture into the biggest house in college football you better come prepared lest ye parish at the hands of the burly resident."

His voice is college football to me.

Oh, and "He's got a convoy!"

I can't find the meltdown

I can't find the meltdown over there. But I did find some awesome threads like "Post a good 90's band", "I think I got bit by a black widow spider" and "Man sticks eel up his butt."

The most impressive thing to

The most impressive thing to me was how low Clowney was on impact.  If he had been as high as you'd imagine a 6'6" guy would be when tackling a runner almost a foot shorter, he just would have swallowed him and not had nearly the jarring effect that caused Vincent to lose the ball.

Denard never played corner.

Denard never played corner.  Ever.

Sometimes I wish Denard would

Sometimes I wish Denard would have left when RR did.  Selfishly, I wish I was able to see him in an offense that suited him for his entire college career.

Distrupting the interior

Distrupting the interior offensive line is how you beat any offense.

The last time Rich had a QB

The last time Rich had a QB he recruited who played for 4 years, he broke NCAA records and became arguably the best spread QB in college football history and the only QB to ever start and win 4 bowl games.

I think he'll have another.  The guy can find/coach spread QBs.

It looks like somebody put an

It looks like somebody put an invisible fence collar on Will Hagerup in that Hoke double fist pump gif.

This is very, very

This is very, very interesting.  But does the triangle offense use a true point guard?

Solid is an understatement.

In my opinion he's the best passing QB in the history of Michigan football.

I think you're misremembering

I think you're misremembering the 2009 Iowa game.

Excuse my ignorance, but

Excuse my ignorance, but didn't Armanti Edwards go 1500/1500 rushing/passing in 2007?

The run that Denard blocked on

was by Vincent Jackson, no?

An 11 play drive that takes 6

An 11 play drive that takes 6 minutes off the clock is much easier on the opposing defense than an 11 play drive that takes 3 minutes off the clock.

I miss the Hell out of

I miss the Hell out of Brandon Minor.

You say we just look at the

You say we just look at the score, but you apparently do, too.  If you watched those two games, you could see with your own eyes Arizona dominated both of them.  They aren't going to win the Pac-12, but they are indeed a good team.  Surprisingly good considering they were 4-8 last year and, like you said, this is a first year Rich Rodriguez team.

I don't know what Rich Rod

I don't know what Rich Rod did, but the eye test is telling me this Arizona team would have beaten 2008 Michigan by 30.  There's no way they have more talent coming off of a 4-8 season than we did, right?

No really... wtf?

But Thomas Rawls isn't what

But Thomas Rawls isn't what worries me.  It's that the coaches seem to think he's the kind of guy they need for the future and have high hopes for him.  I'm more worried that our coaches see talent where there is none.

Didn't Georgia Southern put

Didn't Georgia Southern put up like 300 rushing yards on Alabama last year?

And nobody arguing for Borges to run Denard more is in the group who complained about Denard getting hurt and missing snaps in the past.  It's a risk you take.

Didn't Georgia Southern put

Double post.

Maybe I'm crazy, but if I

Maybe I'm crazy, but if I have Denard Robinson on my team I might just have some faith in him to make some plays with his feet that aren't actually there.  No, Alabama doesn't let rushing QBs get off.  But they also haven't played against Denard Robinson before.

Borges said it himself.  You want your guys to make a few "exeptional plays".  Who exactly could do that better than Denard?  And how does Denard do it if you don't give him the opportunities?

Bubble screens.  2 for 2.

Bubble screens.  2 for 2.

Remind us all again how many

Remind us all again how many starts Denard has missed because he ran too much against a physical defense?

Seriously, stop with the "don't use him because he might get hurt" crap.

Am I the only one worried

Am I the only one worried that our power-back-of-the-future got completely annihilated by a safety in a one-on-one collision?

But the bubble screens were

But the bubble screens were two of our best plays.

Unacceptable.  Preparing for

Unacceptable.  Preparing for the future by hanging your current seniors out to dry is deplorable.

And if you get the lyrics correct, you don't have to explain who sang them.

I don't agree with your

I don't agree with your assessment that FSU out physicaled us in 1991.  They had speed all over the place, but our defensive line was more out-schemed than manhandled and our offensive line pushed them around pretty good that day.  The power running game was on point.  Against Washington, we just got swallowed on both sides of the ball.

FSU, though, was the first time I watched Michigan and thought the opponent's coach was better than ours.

Rich Rod did pretty well with

Rich Rod did pretty well with the kind of teams he builds vs. SEC opponents at WVU.

This was much uglier than

This was much uglier than LSU/Oregon last year.

I don't agree with Hinton's

I don't agree with Hinton's assessment of the first interception.  When a go is called, you don't wait for the receiver to clear the corner.  It's a timed play.  You drop back, throw to a spot, and let the receiver run under the ball.  The fact he was shoved out of bounds while the ball was in the air is another issue I have with the play, but whatever.

2-3 steps is 5 yards or

2-3 steps is 5 yards or more.  He didn't have that much separation.

Rich Rod can't play with a

Rich Rod can't play with a throwing QB.  He'll just run him out of town on purpose.

To say this game wasn't

To say this game wasn't crucial to stated goals is absurd.  Games like this directly affect recruiting and recruiting well is basically half of your plan to achieve the goal of winning the conference and going to the Rose Bowl.

Today you think it's no big deal.  3 years from now when Joe Blow misses a tackle in the 4th quarter of The Game and we lose because the 5 star LB who would have made that play was watching this game and decided to go to Notre Dame, you'll understand.

Yeah no.

Yeah no.

You know, the options for a

You know, the options for a season opener aren't limited to either the defending national champion or a cupcake.

They played like one tonight.

They played like one tonight.

The decision to schedule this

The decision to schedule this game was great, but there is absolutely risk involved.  Losing like this in primetime affects recruiting in a variety of ways.

Do you really believe the

Do you really believe the injuries in the game are why we got embarassed?

A game like this

can actually have a negative impact on a team's ability to win their conference in the future.  Recruits watch TV.
