Denard's Elbow: Bandaged
So here's a still from Friday's walkthrough video:
Watch the thing in full if you need to assure yourself that this is not a hallucination and is actually a bandage on his elbow.
What is it? Denard had a procedure earlier this week for an abscess on said elbow. The bandage is the after-effect. An abscess is an irritating, fairly quick-healing thing that may have affected his accuracy earlier in the year. It won't cause him to miss any time but may be a reason the passing game has been minimized so far. If he suddenly gets a lot more accurate in three weeks that might be why.

Not sure why GRboy thinks this is def an MRSA abscess. Could just be non-infected olecranon bursitis. Would be explainable by all the practice snaps and game-time throws. If it is simple inflammation, anti-inflammatories will do the trick. Drainage will help in the short term. Would certainly explain some accuracy issues just like a sprained knee/ankle would affect a RB's cuts.

I am not a doctor; but I play one on various message boards. I think Denard needs an arm transplant. If he gets one by game time, he should be good to go. I would suggest this guy's arm. He is not using it right now.
PS You might see a slight improvement in Deanrd's passing.

Forget the access; what is with the giant helmet and the gray face mask? I guess the large helmet can be explained by the flowing dreads and I'm pretty sure that is where he derives his power, but gray face mask? Rabble, rabble... (I'm looking at you Dave Brandon!)

Two things I thought were funny in that video. One, the players look small with a helmet but no pads. As someone already commented, their helmets look comically large.
Two, Brady Hoke ran a zone-read at 1:10 in the video. No wait I'm worried you misunderstand, I don't mean that he called a zone-read for the team. He was the quarterback running a zone-read. That idea is hilarious to me (and maybe only me).

my earlier comments about Brian's suggestion that Denard might be hurt. I thought it was just Denard needing more time to grow and learn in the offense, and now I'm sure he'll pass for 300 yards today. Go Blue!

I'm glad this is minor. I still hope Denard is out by the start of the 4th quarter though. He's taken toomany hits for my comfort. If I see designed Denard QB runs after we put Minny away, I'm going to grumble.

be a simpler answer for the coaches than "learning an unfamiliar system," "receivers are learnng to run the new routes, "still learning the footwork in the new system" answers given the media? Borges said these things and more: that every quarterback he has taught a new system to went through similar difficulties with accuracy. No one has given the "it's an abcess on the elbow" answer which would be simpler and more easily acceptable to the fan base. This seems too easy,

that this is the magical answer to the passing game. if passing issues were due to a quick healing procedure that doesn't cause you to miss playing time then why wait till week 5? I guess we only need to wait a few hours to find out the results!

Physically the pain from the abscess might not have been very severe, but it wouldn't surprise me if the thing didn't affect him mentally. It's not unrealistic to hope for an improvement.

to think an affliction like this is responsible for his accuracy issues. First, while it might affect his throwing velocity, why would it impact where he aims the ball? That makes no sense to me.
Second, the answer is right there in front of us--Denard is not really accurate, and he has an all new system that asks him to make reads he hasn't had to before, and he's not throwing some of the more high precentage thows that last year's offense had him doing.

Or a physics major with an understanding of angles and the relationship velocity has with a ball being at a certain place at a certain time--a relationship called accuracy. Velocity affects accuracy. Not an impressive post on your part.

The MN game has raised Denard's completion percentage to 55%. One more solid game from him could get him over 60% on the year. Borges did a great job with the playcalls, receivers ran tighter routes, and Denard made (mostly) better throws.
