OT: OSU-MSU this Sat - what do you think ?
Bucks play Sparty this Saturday in Columbus. Neither has really gotten off to the kind of start that they were hoping for this season.
What do you all think? Which of our rivals is going to get the win, and which is going to be exposed with a poor record to start the year?
At this point I am going to say that the MSU D can handle Braxton Miller, but I am definitely open to being swayed . . .

extreme sleepiness epidemic hits the stadium. Symptoms include bags under the eyes, however coach dantonio will not be diagnosed for weeks due to preexisting conditions.

As much as I hate to say it, we want OSU to win. I won't cheer when they score a TD or anything like that, but... we do want them to win. So I guess I'm rooting for them. /shiver

both teams seem pretty hard to read at this point. I guess I'll lean towards OSU since it's in Columbus, but we definitely need MSU to lose.
September 25th, 2011 at 2:40 PM ^
....and I will because the grill will take a moment to warm up, I'll say OSU wins this one by at least two scores. 28-14.
It's questions like this that remind me of how irksome divisions are.
September 25th, 2011 at 2:42 PM ^
will still not have their 4 or 6 best players in this game. I'd say that gives the advantage to MSU's offense over OSU's secondary. Did you see what Harris did to their defense? Imagine what Cousins will do.
September 25th, 2011 at 2:44 PM ^
Have you seen his offensive line? I doubt he'll have time to do anything.
September 25th, 2011 at 2:42 PM ^
9-3. Cousins goes down for the season. Braxton miller throws for 48 yards.

Sparty hasn't beaten anyone with a pulse this season and they were handled by ND, the only decent team that they've played. OSU was beaten up pretty good by Miami, but had a good game against a BCS opponent yesterday and they are at home.
I'll guess that OSU takes advantage of Sparty's woeful frontline to shut down the running game forcing Cousins to chuck it up 35 times-- with at least a few of those ending up in OSU hands. Miller does just enough to put points on the board and OSU wins 24-14.
September 25th, 2011 at 2:52 PM ^
Go Bucks?
September 25th, 2011 at 3:03 PM ^
I think OSU. Braxton looked pretty good against Colorado (Yeah I know its Colorado) and OSU's DLine is going to give MSU's OL a lot of trouble. As much as it is tough to see OSU win, in a way it is better for us when they do, solely because it makes it even better when we beat them.
September 25th, 2011 at 3:06 PM ^
I'm gonna have to take OSU as well. Their weakness has been the offense. They should be able to get alot of pressure on Cousins with the banged up offensive line and maybe shut down the run game too ala Notre Dame. No matter who the winner is in this one you can't really be pissed because either Michigan State or Ohio is losing
September 25th, 2011 at 3:16 PM ^
Sparty is going to get killed. Anyone thinking eitherwise needs to have their head examined. MSU is not a good team and their offensive line is seriously flawed. Sparty had a fluke of a season last year. OSU will beat them by doube digits.
September 25th, 2011 at 3:18 PM ^
Don't we want Ohio to win since MSU is in our division?
I need to think through all the consequences.. But I think we want Ohio to win.
September 25th, 2011 at 3:23 PM ^
Exactly.
September 25th, 2011 at 3:25 PM ^
Given that MSU has an offensive line made of swiss cheese, I think that OSU wins fairly comfortably. OSU 31 MSU 10.

Wouldn't it be more accruate to say
OSU dline >> MSU o line
September 25th, 2011 at 3:32 PM ^
I'm predicting a win for sparty
September 25th, 2011 at 3:45 PM ^
OSU defense will PWN the pile of bodies MSU call an offensive line.
23-7 OSU
September 25th, 2011 at 6:07 PM ^
according to Dantonio, "At least they are scholarship bodies."
September 25th, 2011 at 3:46 PM ^
in a close game determined by turnovers. I'd rather see MSU win, though. I want them to be all happy and smelling themselves when we go up there.
September 25th, 2011 at 3:56 PM ^
Division rules ... I hope OSU wins... I think OSU wins.. by a couple touchdowns...28-14.
I wasn't really thinking of division tie breakers before this thread. This is a different take on the B1G. I don't like it...but so what. Go Bucks.
September 25th, 2011 at 3:56 PM ^
msu still has no offensive line and OSU still has a pretty good defense . There may not be alot of points scored by either side, but I think OSU's defense is more likely to set there offense up for a score then msu's.
September 25th, 2011 at 7:00 PM ^
Ohio wins. Even with the tats still on time-out, they have the defense to take care of MSU and their O line.
Just think of the pain in Ohio if little brother wins. Either way, I feel good. Given the choice, I'd rather see little brother go down.
September 25th, 2011 at 4:09 PM ^
I still think MSU is given way more credit than they deserve. OSU big. like 38-14 big. everyone begins praising braxton as the next coming of troy smith
September 25th, 2011 at 4:09 PM ^
I think we need to be concerned with Minnesota and fixing some of our own issues. I'll worry about Sparty and ohio when the time comes.
September 25th, 2011 at 4:25 PM ^
Are you a coach or player for the Michigan football team? What color underwear does Denard wear?
September 25th, 2011 at 5:19 PM ^
Don't know about Denard, but Superman has a picture of Denard on his.
September 25th, 2011 at 4:32 PM ^
OSU wins, but MSU loses a couple of guys to not-serious-but-3-week injuries. Frankly, I'm more concerned about MSU than OSU at this point, since MSU has no business even being regarded as a legit team in this division.
September 25th, 2011 at 4:36 PM ^
Go tOSU...fml
September 25th, 2011 at 4:37 PM ^
I'm hoping for an act of God, Sodom and Gomorrah-style. Barring that, whatever is best for Michigan.
September 25th, 2011 at 4:41 PM ^
I predict an epic derpfest for the ages. Between OSU's terrible O going against Sparty's solid D, and OSU's solid athletes going against Sparty's O-line, we'll get a score like 3-2 OSU.
September 25th, 2011 at 4:51 PM ^
Sparty has soild D? I seem to remember Notre Dame exposing them all day long. Kirk looked awesome throwing 80 yard INTs as well. Sparty has no business being mentioned as a legit contender.
September 25th, 2011 at 5:50 PM ^
ND had 275 yards of offense in that game, which is not exactly lights out. Remember, they had a KR for a touchdown.
September 25th, 2011 at 4:43 PM ^
I'll just be praying to every deity for a meteor or something of that nature to go ahead and handle this situation
September 25th, 2011 at 4:46 PM ^
As long as we beat them both it's whatever!
September 25th, 2011 at 4:49 PM ^
Will Mark's heart give out again if Sparty actually wins?
September 25th, 2011 at 4:54 PM ^
I'm just happy that they have to play each other and that one of them has to lose. I am hoping for an Ohio victory, followed by them having to vacate the season, thus making it so that neither team wins.
September 25th, 2011 at 5:09 PM ^
I wish there was some way this game could end in a tie.
September 25th, 2011 at 5:14 PM ^
Meteor.
September 25th, 2011 at 5:16 PM ^
In a normal year I would pull for Ohio because of the Divisional factor. But this year, Ohio is teetering on the edge of total disarray. A big loss or two, especially at home, may push them over the edge. They would no longer be the B1G "it" program.
This we be good for us in terms of recruiting and gaining critical mass for the Hoke regime in general. We can take care of Sparty on our own.
September 25th, 2011 at 5:31 PM ^
It's amazing the breaks Sparty gets schedule wise over the years. They have a bye week before the Michigan game this year for the 5th time in the last 12 seasons. Also, OSU rotates off their schedule quite often. They didn't play each other 12 times the last 30 years, including the last 2 seasons. Now they play the Bucks without their suspended players, with just one game to go.
With that said, I can still see the Bucks winning this game. I think OSU's defense is better than Notre Dame's. Add in the home field advantage in Columbus with America's worst fan base and I can see Sparty struggling.
Regardless, both teams can kiss my ass.
September 26th, 2011 at 3:45 PM ^
Just about what I was thinking wolverinehistorian.
September 25th, 2011 at 5:36 PM ^
I say 19-10 Ohio State
Can the Bucks really win a Big 10 game with less than 100 yards passing? Yes
Can MSU's beleaguered offensive line open any holes or, hell, just block, OSU's defensive front? No
19-10 Buckeye win, with a big special team play somewhere figuring into the mix. Like another Hall kick return. He's been on fire since hitting one against us last year.

Hate tree for M Vader
Burning Hate Lukewarm Hate Mild Hate
OSU>>MSU>>>>>>ND>>>>>>>Illinois (Zook), Purdue (snake oil),SEC, ACC FL teams
also Minnesota because of the jug but it is hard to hate them.
September 25th, 2011 at 6:40 PM ^
that will give me supreme confidence that we will win both games. something to the effect of a 5-2 game with multiple interceptions and fumbles in the redzone, runningbacks headed towards the wrong endzone and passes so overthrown they land in the stands.
September 25th, 2011 at 7:03 PM ^
do we root for osu? msu is in our division. we need loses by them to get to the b10 championship.
