OT: OSU-MSU this Sat - what do you think ?

Submitted by rockydude on

Bucks play Sparty this Saturday in Columbus. Neither has really gotten off to the kind of start that they were hoping for this season.

What do you all think? Which of our rivals is going to get the win, and which is going to be exposed with a poor record to start the year?

At this point I am going to say that the MSU D can handle Braxton Miller, but I am definitely open to being swayed . . .

As much as I hate to say it, we want OSU to win. I won't cheer when they score a TD or anything like that, but... we do want them to win. So I guess I'm rooting for them. /shiver

both teams seem pretty hard to read at this point. I guess I'll lean towards OSU since it's in Columbus, but we definitely need MSU to lose.

....and I will because the grill will take a moment to warm up, I'll say OSU wins this one by at least two scores. 28-14.

It's questions like this that remind me of how irksome divisions are.

will still not have their 4 or 6 best players in this game. I'd say that gives the advantage to MSU's offense over OSU's secondary. Did you see what Harris did to their defense? Imagine what Cousins will do.

Ohio's dline against the msu oline? Cousins may not make it through the game. Like it or not have to root against anyone in our division. I want michigan in the history books in the first ever B1G championship game - winning would be even better.

Sparty hasn't beaten anyone with a pulse this season and they were handled by ND, the only decent team that they've played.    OSU was beaten up pretty good by Miami, but had a good game against a BCS opponent yesterday and they are at home.

I'll guess that OSU takes advantage of Sparty's woeful frontline to shut down the running game forcing Cousins to chuck it up 35 times-- with at least a few of those ending up in OSU hands.   Miller does just enough to put points on the board and OSU wins 24-14.

I think OSU.  Braxton looked pretty good against Colorado (Yeah I know its Colorado) and OSU's DLine is going to give MSU's OL a lot of trouble.  As much as it is tough to see OSU win, in a way it is better for us when they do, solely because it makes it even better when we beat them.

I'm gonna have to take OSU as well. Their weakness has been the offense. They should be able to get alot of pressure on Cousins with the banged up offensive line and maybe shut down the run game too ala Notre Dame. No matter who the winner is in this one you can't really be pissed because either Michigan State or Ohio is losing

Sparty is going to get killed. Anyone thinking eitherwise needs to have their head examined. MSU is not a good team and their offensive line is seriously flawed. Sparty had a fluke of a season last year. OSU will beat them by doube digits.

Msu skilled offensive players > osu back 7 on defense Msu back 7 > osu skilled offensive players Osu d line > msu o line Osu o line > msu d line The biggest pressure on any coaching set is on msu's offensive coaches. Scheming around that line will be tough. This should be an interesting test. Personally, I plan on taking great satisfaction from whoever loses.

in a close game determined by turnovers. I'd rather see MSU win, though. I want them to be all happy and smelling themselves when we go up there.

Division rules ... I hope OSU wins... I think OSU wins.. by a couple touchdowns...28-14.

I wasn't really thinking of division tie breakers before this thread.  This is a different take on the B1G.  I don't like it...but so what.  Go Bucks.

msu still has no offensive line and OSU still has a pretty good defense . There may not be alot of points scored by either side, but I think OSU's defense is more likely to set there offense up for a score then msu's.

Ohio wins.  Even with the tats still on time-out, they have the defense to take care of MSU and their O line.

Just think of the pain in Ohio if little brother wins.  Either way, I feel good.  Given the choice, I'd rather see little brother go down.

OSU wins, but MSU loses a couple of guys to not-serious-but-3-week injuries.  Frankly, I'm more concerned about MSU than OSU at this point, since MSU has no business even being regarded as a legit team in this division.

I predict an epic derpfest for the ages.  Between OSU's terrible O going against Sparty's solid D, and OSU's solid athletes going against Sparty's O-line, we'll get a score like 3-2 OSU.

I'm just happy that they have to play each other and that one of them has to lose.  I am hoping for an Ohio victory, followed by them having to vacate the season, thus making it so that neither team wins.

In a normal year I would pull for Ohio because of the Divisional factor.  But this year, Ohio is teetering on the edge of total disarray.  A big loss or two, especially at home, may push them over the edge.  They would no longer be the B1G "it" program.

This we be good for us in terms of recruiting and gaining critical mass for the Hoke regime in general.  We can take care of Sparty on our own.

It's amazing the breaks Sparty gets schedule wise over the years.  They have a bye week before the Michigan game this year for the 5th time in the last 12 seasons.  Also, OSU rotates off their schedule quite often.  They didn't play each other 12 times the last 30 years, including the last 2 seasons. Now they play the Bucks without their suspended players, with just one game to go.

With that said, I can still see the Bucks winning this game.  I think OSU's defense is better than Notre Dame's.  Add in the home field advantage in Columbus with America's worst fan base and I can see Sparty struggling.

Regardless, both teams can kiss my ass.

I say 19-10 Ohio State

Can the Bucks really win a Big 10 game with less than 100 yards passing? Yes

Can MSU's beleaguered offensive line open any holes or, hell, just block, OSU's defensive front? No

19-10 Buckeye win, with a big special team play somewhere figuring into the mix. Like another Hall kick return. He's been on fire since hitting one against us last year.

that will give me supreme confidence that we will win both games. something to the effect of a 5-2 game with multiple interceptions and fumbles in the redzone, runningbacks headed towards the wrong endzone and passes so overthrown they land in the stands.
