NCAA Informs Ohio State Of Ongoing Investigation
According to 97.1 The Fan in Columbus, the NCAA has informed Ohio State University that they will be continuing their investigation. The report comes from the Common Man and the Torg show with its sources coming from former OSU football players.
More details to come once I find a print source. I know we all love to see it, but they broke the news on the radio with promise of following up on it.
EDIT: Here's the link
EDIT #2: Torg now saying he thinks PRYOR is talking in an effort to get him into the Supplemental Draft. Granted this is heresay and high speculation, but it raises some interesting questions. Mind you, Torg is the one who broke this story on air when I posted it....before it made it to ESPN.
EDIT #3: 97.1 NOW REPORTING THAT THE SIGNING OF MEMORABILIA DID NOT STOP AFTER OSU "PUT THE CABOSH ON IT!" This is getting unbelievable! Torg says booster involved is from Northwest Ohio. They are livid! Tune in and laugh your ass off.

Let's scale the picture back there chief. Modify the size the on the left size. I love this picture, but it covers up a ton of room haha.

Actually, I say make it twice as large.

ironically, now that you've replied to his comment, there's no way he can edit his post, meaning you've prevented him from being able to resize it.

Hahahaha, I didn't even think of that. Touche!

haha yeah I thought that there was something wrong with my browser. no regrets though. I'd like to blow that up to mural size and cover a wall of my bedroom with it.

Even if they find nothing traceable (as so many don't understand, the NCAA has never been an efficient detective outfit), they are still every bit within their rights to hammer the shit out of them as a repeat offender.
An extended investigation does give OSU more opportunity to fail the smell test even worse than they already have. With the overwhelming national sentiment for it, there's just no way they can get out of this without a postseason ban and schollie reductions.

These potential sanctions have clearly helped us in recruiting. I almost seems like the threat of allegations is better than actually finding out what they are.

But we get to stay on this ride if they end up getting what they deserve. Too bad it would be a bit optimistic to expect anything more than a one-year so it won't last forever. The next favor we get in recruiting we earn on the field.

Please please please somebody actually cooperate with this investigation.
August 10th, 2011 at 6:58 PM ^
I feel like this is a mafia movie like Goodfellas or American Gangster where the cops look for (and find) someone to cooperate, ultimately bringing down the mob.
August 10th, 2011 at 4:29 PM ^
I'm still miffed that OSU didn't receive FTM or LOIC. If they find anything else, I'm sure that one of those will follow the investigation.
August 10th, 2011 at 4:35 PM ^
The NCAA is obviously treating Tressel's lying as a different situation than the stuff with Talbott, Kniffin and maybe Sarniak. They didn't find LOIC when looking at just the Tressel item, but the outrage over that was from people who had been assuming all allegations would be lumped together at the Aug. 12 hearing.
That it is going to take longer is a great, great sign.

If the NCAA has gotten TP to "flip" so he can get into the NFL that would probably rank as the greatest thing EVER!

...and run afoul of the mob down there? Have you seen the average Buckeye fan after a can of Skoal and two Bud Lights?

Why would cooperation with the NCAA get him into the supplemental draft?? The NCAA has no say over that... makes no sense to me.
August 10th, 2011 at 4:40 PM ^
I don't think it has anything to do with the NCAA getting him into the draft. I think it has more to do with OSU burning him or something of that nature. Like I said, it's all heresay, but it makes for some interesting questions.
I personally think that part of the NFL's decision on Pryor lies on the fact that Pryor was suspended "for the season" but none of the other kids were. If I were the NFL officials, I would see something fishy working there as well. This whole thing just keeps getting weirder.

They dumb.
August 10th, 2011 at 4:42 PM ^
If the NCAA declares him ineligible, might be enough to have had a change in eligibility status by the NFL's standard necessary to be elibible for the supplemental draft. The previous news about Pryor not being eligible seemed to indicate that the NFL wasn't treating OSU's dissasociation from Pryor as being legitimate.
August 10th, 2011 at 7:01 PM ^
My guess would be TP isn't eligible for the supplemental draft b/c of this ongoing investigation of him, so maybe if he cooperated, he could speed along the process of closing that investigation and get into the supplemental draft.
August 10th, 2011 at 4:43 PM ^
Is that he needs to prove that there was a change in eligibility status. He can do that by talking to the NCAA and admitting other wrongful actions. The NFL goes by the NCAA's determination of eligibility. I just dont see anything changing fast enough however with only a week til the supp draft

I'm actually going to Columbus this weekend to visit a couple friends (Both Michiganders. They had to move because of the crappy economy).
While we're out, I'll be sure to look at the expressions on people's faces. Seeing the pain up close might be nice.

That's why so many people throw their heart and soul into Ohio State Footbaw. Helps distract you from breathing in the polluted air or dodging idiot drivers on the freeway.

even my wife (OSU alumna) calls them sheeple. I've driven through Boston, New York, Detroit, Chicago, Cleveland, and Atlanta, and I have never seen so many horrible drivers as I do down here

I think OSU actually thought the allegations they are meeting on Fri for was it. They pleaded/admitted 'Repeat Offender' on those allegations. So if they do receive another letter that receives 'Failure to Monitor' or 'Lack of Institutional Control', they could be receiving the 2nd worst penalty in NCAA history (I don't think they will go 'Death Penalty' ever again).
