Bracketology open thread
If I had to choose, I'd pick national exposure with great tournament runs. The tournament is a lot more spread out then the BTT and it generates a lot more good press for the program. Either scenario would be good.
College basketball is all about the tournament. Imagine the Fab Five winning two Big Ten titles but losing early in the tourney. No one would remember them.
Greatness is measured by Final Four appearances, not doing well in you conference. Duke has won 9 of their last 12 (now 10 of 13?), but before breaking through last year all you'd hear about is how they underachieve in the Tournament. Simply put, as jmblue said, there's s movie about the Fab Five on tonight; there's no movie about the Big Ten Champ those years, or Kentucky's freshman class last year. It all about March. You can fix a so-so season with a great Tourney run, but a bad Tournament run can wreck a great regular season (compare MSU and Kansas last year).
Beilein on TV now on CBS
big Maize rage banner in background at Crisler
More importantly the big chairs were used.
Looked like a nice showing, hope to hear them go wild.
B101 has the bracket up...I really like what they have projected...We matchup well with Vandy with a match up with UT looming...UT is very, very beatable..

I'm hoping for 2PM Friday and any post hangover tip time on Sunday. I'm out from sundown Friday to sundown Saturday, so I'm really, really hoping to get the hookup this year. I was agonizing missing the first half of the Oklahoma game in 2009.
its st pattys and that alone isnt conducive to watching mich play
But when was the last time Kenny Smith or Barkley covered college basketball? Does Charles remember anything about his years other than taking money?
Darius looks soooooooooo nervous.
Anybody else puke seeing Duke's haughty reaction to being named a #1 seed? It's like they're brainwashed.
Even Pitt was more excited, and they're less deserving of a 1 seed than anyone with their poor Big East tournament showing. Also, HALOL at no 1 seed for ND
OSU, Duke, and ND in the Final Four, with MSU going on a #1 seed gets upset like last year run to the Four?
The Fab Five called Duke a bunch of "Uncle Toms." That's good enough for me.
Looked like a great turnout at Crisler when they interviewed Beilien. Awesome scene.
Charles Barkley is going to be so entertaining throughout this show, if only to hear him say "turnment" over and over again.
thats all i got hahaha
Don't see how people are projecting Villanova a 10 seed after loosing so much down the stretch.
loosing?
Not that it was really in doubt, but it's nice.
That is baffling. What SEC slappy was slobbering over them enough to push them past a 12 seed?
If Georgia got in then Michigan has to get in
Right
Georgia a 10? Wow
Now I am nervous...even though I shouldn't be
It would be nice if this weren't a repeat of two years ago when as the world's most lockey lock we had to wait until the last spot of all was revealed
Safe to say the Kenny Smith/Barkley experiment isn't working here.
Those teams getting in concern me.
The B1G may lose a spot? PSU may not make it now! I Georgia is a 10 see we better be at least a 10 seed!
Georgia as a 10 seed?
Bama fans are going to be furious if they don't get in
I wonder if Joe Lunardi's head is exploding yet.. He had UAB and Georgia on the outside looking in, and they were both put in the first Region announced... SUCH A FARCE!
To be fair no one really saw UAB getting in.
And Georgia being a 10 shocks me? Especially after the collapse against Alabama.
If anything, this is proving conference tournaments don't matter THAT much.
I still doubt they'd have the whole Crisler set up, Beilein interview, and Michigan attention if they aren't going to get a bid. Wouldn't make any sense.
We beat Clemson....there's no way they'd put them in over us.
Er.... Northwestern beat us.
We're in, but that logic doesn't work.
When Clemson has squarely been on the bubble and our resume is better than theirs across the board, yes, it does.
Till (at least) the Final Four...
Thats Bull Shit
of the two brackets so far, which would you guys rather be in? I'm leaning toward the second one there, probably in Georgia's exact place.
trading places with Penn State.
not nervous but wow
I think the UAB/Georgia getting in means either Michigan State, Penn State, or maybe both are out
Please MSU. Please MSU. Please MSU.
Maybe Georgia is getting the "Good Sportsmanship" seeding award for their AD speaking out against oversigning. On a different note, MSU getting snubbed for Georgia would be HALOLOLOL.
