OL is fine. As to Shea, I have to conclude (sadly) that Gerdeman of the Ozone has it about right:

"Shea Patterson is basically a frayed wire who can do exactly what you’re asking him to do most times. But other times, that fray can let a spark loose that dooms the entire operation. You never know when that spark is going to happen and you never know if it is going to catch on to something."

My son faced a similar…

My son faced a similar choice about five years ago....he too was blown away by his visit. M threw a scholarship at him that made it the equivalent of in state.

No reason for haste. Wait to see if she gets into Princeton first.

Other factors:

What type of Engineering does she want to do/be? Princeton has an ORFE program that is top notch....does ‘Wall Street’ interest her?

Also it’s not only about Engineering per se...how are her people skills? Princeton might give her an edge here longer term.

Princeton is also a much smaller place and that may be a better environment for your daughter.

Either way she’ll be fine.

If MSU

can create decent OL folk from 'nowhere' why can't we? Go Nolan!

Not Me

But, back in the day  (circa 1982) in Houston. TX, my wife  ushered some guy named Clint  Eastwood to his table. Somehow in the chit chat it came up that he hated those cigarillos and he couldn't stand ( was allergic to)  horses.....She said there was a lot of excitement in the restaurant, and by the way who was this Eastwood guy? He was very charming...

Sveiks baby!

Should have had Putin in goal. Our at least Fleury's stick.

Strange

The ghost of Cruyff no doubt.

unless it's a technical area of study...go for the brand

Ultimately U.S. higher education is brand driven. And that brand is generally correlated with the difficulty of getting in. People don't go to the local CC for two years and finish off at an IVY.

Michigan is wonderfully placed in that the brand is strong and you can get in the CC route. Brand strength is certainly equal to ND and NW at the u undergrad level.D

Many in NY do the Olbermann manoeuvre whereby they apply to the cheaper and lower barrier to entry Cornell ag school, and when they get in try to transfer over to the IVY or like in his case just say he went to Cornell.

May Dave Brandon r.i.p. :-)

Agree Completely

Hell, I even heard something on NPR....which means it has penetrated tinto the guilty liberal folk back channel.....now that's National

All true

And you should include Brandon as well. This is the football program equivalent of an Ebola outbreak.

The Nightly News

When it makes it on the national nightly news (ABC) Hoke has jumped the shark.

It's all about CYA and limiting liability.....Brandon step up and step down.

Dumb and Dumber

Brandon and Hoke, or is it Hoke and Brandon. I am embarassed.

Maybe we ought to do a seance and call up the ghost of Don Canham for advice on the matter, although I'm sure what he would say: clean house.

Am missing Rich Rod.

Historical Artifact

Back in the day when I was creating punch cards for a program at the NUBs,  I needed to visit the rest room. As I was relieving myself, there written above the urinal were these wise words:

"When you shit you shit alone...

When you piss urination!"

Insurance

I read this on Doc Saturday

"ESPN sports business reporter Darren Rovell noted Tuesday morning that Miller does have a $1 million insurance policy that safeguards his financial future should he not be able to play again. The premium was paid for by Ohio State."

This seems like an NCAA violation. Better hurry up and self report.
Boeheim

Has his plusses and minuses. In my interactions with him he's been actually down to earth.

Great Stuff

So how do we get there? What are the characteristics of the personnel to make this work. Of course we will need to hear from someone on how this is defended
