ABC World New Tonight covering Hoke/Morris incident

Submitted by snackyx on

Just saw ABC national news with a segment on the Hoke/Morris incident.  The brushfire is spreading on the national front, and when football stories are covered by non-sports outlets in the media, it isn't going to be pretty.

This, Dave Brandon, is not the "marketing" you want.  Stay tuned........

Change is difficult, but in this case inevitable.  It may be hard to see this, but 5 years from now we may be looking at this event as a watershed moment towards positive change in the program.

I did say it wouldn't get a lot of traction. I'm surprised it made the national news, but this is just the day after. It's overkill, but I don't think it's something they'll keep on.

And an upvote - you made me laugh.

wonder if a umich alum behind this. I'm guessing more than a few are justifiably pissed off, and there are several in positions of power in many organizations in the media.

Ugh, they need to come completely clean on this whole thing and provide a detailed account from those involved, and I don't just mean Brady's personal take in the post-game presser. The lack of information has just fueled this and will continue to because the visual evidence alone is really damning. The truth might be bad as well, but at least it won't be speculation, which is always worse. Get everyone involved's take, Morris, Hoke, Nuss, Schmidt and get it out there quickly.

It's time.  This should be the final blow.  The question is, will Brandon take a fall for failing to act, or will he act superior and say while Hoke is a good coach, we can't have this here?

Okay, this is getting a little out of control. Yes, it was bad.  Yes, Hoke should have pulled him.  But this shouldn't be some national scandal, and he certainly isn't the first coach to make this kind of mistake.

*puts mod hat on, the one riddled with holes*

While we probably don't  need a thread for every single media outlet which is going to make this a story, it is significant in this case because ABC news has some good reach in terms of viewership and we are now on a national stage in a way that many of us probably find surreal and unacceptable. Other threads may go, but the fact that this is now making national broadcasts is pretty relevant to the future direction of the program, I believe.

Why not?  The nation's most popular sport has a serious problem with head injuries and hard headed idiots who preach "toughness" make it worse by insisting that you'll stay in the game if you're tough and a real man and all that other bullshit.  One of them happens to be the head coach at one of, if not the most, popular teams in the country, and one of the few with a true national fan base.

Let's be honest, it's an excuse to try to get rid of Hoke by other means.

Yes it was bad, but the absolute feeding frenzy by the Michigan fanbase has ulterior motives.

If Hoke was undefeated, we'd be looking for some low-level assistant to go after.
