as a non-soccer playing father of two soccer fanatic girls, I can give you a few pieces simple advice from watching so many coaches (starting all the way back at U5 soccer):
1) there's nothing you can do to make them more skilled or play better at this level. too many kids that don't care or just aren't athletic. the ONLY thing you can focus on is making them love the sport, have fun and try hard.
2) there will be outlier girls that are truly skilled and gifted - focus on them and try to teach them only the fundamentals they'll need later on. Soccer is truly a sport of touches - the more you get the better you get. So they just need time on pitch and support.
3) don't take it too seriously and have fun with the parents - they can turn on you very quickly
that's it - those are the only things I've seen actually work for kids that are really young. My girls play 7 days a week practically and the oldest just won a league National Championship with her U15 club team and she had some great and not great coaches along the way.
I agree with the sentiment, but I don't agree that you have to have it one way or the other. Or that there's no way to do the inducement game legally.
For instance, you can have a fund for all incoming freshman to the football team. That isn't an inducement, it's an NIL deal for anyone that signs and arrives on campus. It also evenly supports all the recruits so doesn't have that same impact on culture/locker room.
I work at a top university as a senior administrator. We usually get between 100-200 applicants for any job because its one of the most visited domains in the country (every job crawler aggregates our jobs).
at least 50% of those applicants are usually throw aways but there are quality applicants at the top.
I posted a Program Director position over a month ago. 25 applicants total and about 2/3 are throw aways.
Something is going on - I don't understand where the people all went
1. Michigan sits out the starters showing completely disregard for MSU
2. MSU wins, barely making it into the tournament
3. MSU gets blown out in the tournament and everyone remembers that the only reason they're in is because UofM could care less about the last game against them.
"But, a university president arrogantly speculating with a very political stance, while accusing the President of the USA of playing cheap politics is embarrassing"
what? ....
he's doing the opposite of politics. He's clearly and non-politically stating he's against playing because of health concerns.
my 10 year old and 12 year old daughter have been playing club soccer in masks for 4 weeks now, including a Labor Day weekend tournament with 4 games in 3 days - all in masks.
But sure, they're full of shit because you don't THINK it's safe.
BOTW is the greatest 1-person game I've ever played. I beat it weeks ago and still greatly enjoy just running around the world exploring. It's gorgeous.
He attributes the problem to poor scheme: why won't they just take the easy yards? That solution is so obvious, there can be no doubt that the coaches considered it. But there are likely many other issues at play that we don't have information to assess. Maybe the players don't execute the screens well. Maybe it doesn't fit in with what we're trying to do in the larger picture.
"this is all really obvious. I don't understand your confusion"
really welcomes a discussion....
Obviously I'm confused or else I wouldn't have posted. Yet I'm also not an idiot, so there may actually be some merit to my confusion that you might not share. you could try asking what that confusion is rather than announcing that "its all really obvious" ... which is less than helpful
As an Air Force guy it gives me great pleasure to point out that the mascot of the Navy is the goat... and every year, Navy plays Army which means that this video is confirming the prophesy that Michigan will beat Army. Go blue.

duh
clearly yet another huge disadvantage for tOSU if there's weather going on
the problem is no cogent or unified development plan for girls in the US. it's insanity.
it all starts with the turf wars and breaking apart of the Girls Development Academy and the reign of the corrupt ECNL system:

It's not a zero sum; you can do well in both.
I'll say it now and say it 100 more times... and no one will listen. Until they do.

Nope. No way not going to do it. You almost had me but I’m not gonna do it.
No way you get me to think next week is going to be anything but a shit show. I’ve seen this movie. I’m not going to get hurt again…
maybe unpopular opinion but the win-win here is:
1. Michigan sits out the starters showing completely disregard for MSU
2. MSU wins, barely making it into the tournament
3. MSU gets blown out in the tournament and everyone remembers that the only reason they're in is because UofM could care less about the last game against them.
4. Profit?
lets hope his defensive coordinator skills aren't as smooth as his sultry, rock n' roll voice.
I just put together that CR is (the venerable) Craig Ross because I'm clearly slow as hell

well you didn't really finish the entire quote from The Who did you?
".... the important preventive measure during exercise is to maintain physical distance of at least one meter from others."
so the obvious next question is what if you CANT maintain physical distance of at least one meter from others?
Well I guess you gotta wear masks then as the ONLY OTHER OPTION .... or not play.
