"Though I received no official response to these sophisticated and elegant tweets to the Illini Athletic Department, I would like to think that Beckman spent the evening prank calling everyone in Illinois named George McLellan and then ordering an absurd amount of hats off an internet haberdashery to hoard in his home's hat annex."

I apologize if I put words into this poster's mouth but I was simply referring to the fact that other posters on this board have mentioned that Nuss is being groomed as a successor when Hoke gets fired. I also took the poster's comment as a slight to Hoke in that he may not have been completely in control and that DB had a hand in playing in the hire. Which I don't see why people had a problem with it because Hoke seemed to be married to Borges and needed a push to make the right decision.
Kiffin isn't really a high profile hire, he has almost set fire to every place he has been at and has an unfavorable reputation. His success has always been paired with USC and Carroll.

This is a great example of a dumb comment.
How insecure do you think Brady Hoke is that he has to worry about his OC? Nuss knows his place and its under Hoke. Don't start random talk of Hoke being worried.

Where the eff did you come up with this chosen one concept? There are good coaches who pick the players that give the team a best chance to win on saturdays. They are not dumb enough to play their favorite who is not performing up to par. It not only is dumb, but it also sends a bad message to the entire team.

We have an open scholarship, QB is an important position, why not breed competition for the spot?
And no, Gardner is not going to the NFL.

|9 weeks 5 days ago||No because there will be||
No because there will be differences no matter what. Regardless of where that program started. Now I don't know the details of Dantonio's first few years and I'm not going to look for them. If a coach had a new, compatible QB to work with, ala Hackenberg and BOB, that would bode well for both parties. We had a situation where we had a coach who runs a completely different system. Yes he worked around it but the coach still needs to input his preffered style at some point right?
If you actually look into it, there are a lot of variable. Too much so that we cannot determine a comparison for any program out there. What we have to do is base our judgement on where we think we should be. And we should do so REALISTICALLY. None of this clamoring about using this excuse and that excuse.
People on this board say oh we had two awesome tackles. Well tackles don't really help you run inside do they? The line is only as strong as its weakest link. And we had different weak links every single game. I think we should be improved as a line next year. As a result of experience and chemistry. Stanford's O Line had a ridiculous three figure start total TOGETHER. That just blows my mind.

because every coach comes in with the same variables in every single job?
Each Coach should have their own benchmark based on where the program was when that coach took over and where that coach has taken us and what the future looks like.

so we can rebuild again?
At this point, unless next year is a tire fire, we need to the staff more time. Having another transition would solidly knock Michigan from the ranks of the elite.

College Football is turning into a what have you done for me lately type deal. Have we forgotten what Hoke and Co. did in this first year?
We fielded a sub par team this year. SUB PAR. Not bad team. We could've easily won at PSU with a made field goal and vs OSU and the Bowl Game with a healthy gardner. That didn't happen. What should we do? Mope around? How about we support the team and trust that the young and talent on this team can and will be developed.
|9 weeks 5 days ago||Oh were these four years||
Oh were these four years Dantonio's first 4?
No. Why MSU is so good is because of their depth. They RS a very high majority and they are coached up very well. Paired with their maturity, they become a very good football team.
We do a major dissevice to ourselves if we fire Hoke without him getting atleast half a decade of time to work on this team. That doesn't mean finding playmakers on offense and defense only, it also means building depth that if one playmaker goes down, we have a suitable replacement who will step up.
It will take time. I just hope that the fans are willing to wait. Wait 5 years to build a program back up and we will reap the benefits for the next decade and longer.
|9 weeks 5 days ago||I think we need to let them||
I think we need to let them know. I don't think the players, coaches and AD know that MSU won. Does anyone know where I can reach them? An email would be great.
OF COURSE THEY F*CKING KNOW
They will work hard to change that. What remains to be seen is if the fans can be patient to see Hoke change things around.

Very interesting to see if NFL teams take a gamble on him. Uber talented but people are saying he doesn't play with a high motor. That and the off the field issues might make his draft stock fall.

I love what Morris did as much as the next guy but he is in no way ready to lead the team just yet. It would be a travesty to push Gardner to WR. He is our best player without a doubt and needs to play QB. The NFL can worry about what to do with his skills after, although I do think he can play QB at the next level.

Recruting classes aren't meant to come in right away to turn around programs. Of course there are a few good ones that help the program, the majority of the class should come to play as upper class men where they provide playmaker s and depth. It would be a travesty to can hoke before the 2015 season. We need to have patience. We're quick to ask for coaching changes but have we all forgotten how end of the last decade turned out?
2015 is hokes crucial year. Not 2014.

Going backwards players to have won both the Naismith and the NBA ROY awards:
Kevin Durant, Elton Brand, Tim Duncan, Larry Johnson, David Robinson, Patrick Ewing, Michael Jordan, Ralph Sampson, Larry Bird and Lew Alcindor.
Out of the ones not in the league anymore, only Larry Johnson is not in the HOF.

Yes he is a freshmen with a strong arm and accuracy issues. Yes he is inexpereinced. But I believe that recieving the majority of first team reps post OSU and allowing Borges to game plan with Morris as his starting QB will put Shane in a spot to have some success.
Am I expecting 400yds passing and 5 TDs? No.
Am I expecting 300 yds and 4 TDs? No.
But I hope to see 200-300 yds passing with a consistent running game with around 4-5 TDs scored total. Plus I hope to see a throw or two that make us go "WOW." In a good way.

|11 weeks 9 hours ago||This game isn't useles and||
This game isn't useles and the sheepman makes legitimate points. I just don't think Gardner will be healthy enough in 6 days to practice and play. Morris is the future of this program in the key years that will decide if Hoke will be around for 2 more years or 20 more years. I would take a 100% healthy Morris over a 75% Gardner.
Borges even said that Gardners injury affected his play calling on the OSU 2pt conversion. I don't want Borges hampered in any way and I want him to let gunslinger Morris loose.
edit: Plus I'm really f*cking excited to see what Morris can bring to the table.
