Hoops: 5 star guard Nimari Burnett to decide Nov.12th
Between Alabama, Michigan, Tx Tech and Oregon. His timeline has moved up quite a bit. He was originally going to watch around 10 games and then decide. We will know a lot about who we do and dont get starting Saturday and on through next week. Hes the one Michigan really needs.

Plus one for including the sport (and position!) in the title.

Good thing Alabama lost its opener.
November 8th, 2019 at 1:48 PM ^
how are we expected to get him when all the ballz(tm) are for other teams
November 8th, 2019 at 1:49 PM ^
Probably the UM fan in me talking but this seems less than ideal
November 8th, 2019 at 1:50 PM ^
Yep. He gone. TT seems most likely
November 8th, 2019 at 2:26 PM ^
That's where the tea leaves seem headed(247 insiders).
Which is weird because he had been saying he wanted to play in an up-tempo system and Texas Technical University basketball is not uptempo, in fact, quite the opposite.
November 8th, 2019 at 3:05 PM ^
in his defense, teens are pretty fickle on these types of things. He sees TT, with a good coach, went to a natty last year, and got a player drafted in the top 10. Michigan really hasn't shown they get kids drafted in the lottery, which is most important to him in all likelihood.
November 8th, 2019 at 3:21 PM ^
Come again? We've had 2 drafted in the lottery in the past 6 years, and Caris would've been if not for his injury problems.
November 8th, 2019 at 4:23 PM ^
TT has had a grand total of 2 players drafted in the past 15 years. Based on track records this would be a huge argument in Michigan’s favor.
November 8th, 2019 at 4:46 PM ^
TT played an uptempo system in their opener. Same coach, but a different style of play to fit their new personnel.
November 8th, 2019 at 1:53 PM ^
Hope we get one of Moody/Burnett. Missing out on both these guys would really sting.
November 8th, 2019 at 1:58 PM ^
I get it except prior to Coach Howard these guys were no deals. It is more concerning that there are no overt plan B, C, D, etc. options. That stings.
November 8th, 2019 at 2:29 PM ^
Just because you don't know what plan b is doesn't mean there isn't one.
November 8th, 2019 at 2:41 PM ^
I think Juwan will tell us Plan B if we just ask him.
November 8th, 2019 at 2:50 PM ^
Actually he did tell me but I was sworn to secrecy.
November 8th, 2019 at 3:08 PM ^
You’d think “plan B” would have an offer by this point or a campus visit
November 8th, 2019 at 3:24 PM ^
This could be ignorance on my part as I am no expert on the ins and outs of basketball recruiting but why would I think that? According to the googles, the last day to sign for the regular period is May 20th.
November 8th, 2019 at 4:48 PM ^
Our plan B recruits aren't going to commit in the early signing period.
November 8th, 2019 at 2:00 PM ^
Joshua Christopher is still on the table. If we miss on Burnett and Moody then he becomes a must.
November 8th, 2019 at 2:02 PM ^
Think it's hard to call him a "must." He's likely to end up elsewhere anyways.
Plenty of time til the spring signing period. Kids emerge, decommit all the time. Transfer portal and reclassification are still options as well. I expect Michigan to be very active in the spring.
November 8th, 2019 at 5:23 PM ^
Oooh, are we doing names which could be first and last names?
Andrew James! David Franklin! Patrick Lindsey! Beck Thomas! Dixon Ellis! Wilson Clay! Rose Davis! Anderson Cooper! Hayden Parker! Alexander Grayson!
(sidenote: a friend of mine has 4 kids - Alex, Hayden, Grayson, and Parker)
November 8th, 2019 at 2:16 PM ^
Seems likely we're missing out on both right now
November 8th, 2019 at 1:58 PM ^
Is Texas Tech the main culprit?
November 8th, 2019 at 2:28 PM ^
Seems that way.
November 8th, 2019 at 2:55 PM ^
It’s so weird to me that Texas Tech got the “cool new kid with swagger on the block” uptick far more than Michigan did after their respective first title game appearances (yes, I know UM made it back in the early 90s but we had been pretty terrible for a long time and the young kids weren’t even born)
I understand that JB sorta avoided 5*s by rule almost, but it feels like TT instantly became the new hotness for recruits this past year while UM sorta remained the cool cousin you love to hang out with at the reunion but you aren’t traveling cross country to party with him any of the other 51 weekends of the year.
November 8th, 2019 at 3:04 PM ^
I think Belein left right as we were getting that reputation. Insiders were saying we likely would've end up with Jabri Abdur Rahim and Walker Kessler if Beilein had stayed
November 8th, 2019 at 2:00 PM ^
It's not looking great for Burnett or Moody.
Burnett has said he wanted to watch the teams play before deciding, but then moved the decision up a month. This is looking like Tech (lots of film and probably the best proven coach of the bunch), or Bama (not much film at Bama, but a known style by Oats).
Moody - well, he's flying back home and deciding in Arkansas in an event that's open to the public. That makes me strongly believe it's Arkansas
But I think we land Dickinson and have a big 3 of Todd, Zeb, Dickinson, and then get Jace and maybe Zaire Wade (?). This would be a top 10 at a minimum class, which would be huge
November 8th, 2019 at 4:14 PM ^
The upside here is our bigs looked fantastic, and maybe that was what he wanted to see. And being up 30 and discounted the app st coming back because we were up by 30.

I swear if we lose Burnett to the school that just lost to freaking Penn...
November 8th, 2019 at 2:29 PM ^
We won't, surprisingly, it's sounding like Texas Tech.
November 8th, 2019 at 2:16 PM ^
I have no insider information at all but I'm not sure this is bad for us. He has the most info about Coach Howard. He has known coach Howard forever. It seems like moving it up would be good because it would be less info about the other programs.
I agree the Moody situation looks rough but this one seems less dire slightly at least until the crystal balls start rolling in. I always thought Alabama was the most likely spot.
November 8th, 2019 at 2:56 PM ^
He could just have added Howard and Michigan to his list as a nod to Howard since he's close with him
November 8th, 2019 at 3:40 PM ^
I find it interesting that you havent really seen the crystal ball movement on Moody or Burnett. Think Moody has like 6 total and one from 2017 and Burnett has 3 and only one was recent. Seems like they've kept it pretty quiet
November 8th, 2019 at 4:38 PM ^
Imagine being a parent of a student athlete that can get a full ride to basically anywhere in the country and sending your kid to fucking texas tech.
November 8th, 2019 at 5:05 PM ^
Thinking back, I should have just sent all recruiting videos and news clippings to one school
University of Hawaii
Gotta be a badass place to go to school when you’re 18-23
November 8th, 2019 at 5:25 PM ^
Any chance Juwan lands Joshua Christopher? Or is UCLA a done deal for him?
November 8th, 2019 at 9:26 PM ^
Some more crystall balls have came in for Moody to Arkansas, this time from some national guys so I'd assume that about wraps that one up.
