I know that it is a fool's…

I know that it is a fool's errand to respond to a post like yours, but at some level you must realize you're being intentionally obtuse about this, right?

Here's the thing though: …

Here's the thing though:  Simply not dying from COVID doesn't always mean a positive outcome.  People are getting amputations and lung transplants because of this, but yes, they live, so it's all good?  No thanks.

You say "fitness level" but,…

You say "fitness level" but, the CDC (and many others) have already identified obesity as a major factor in poor outcomes (note:  Covid patients, even young ones, experience many health problems that stop short of death).

Should offensive/defensive linemen sit out?  They are, according to BMI, obese.  Some significantly so.  I know they're athletes, but obesity matters here, even if you're fitter than other people your size.

You're getting down-voted,…

You're getting down-voted, but I think it is because of your wording ("fairer sex" is, at best, a dated term).  To say that players and athletes at all levels might abstain from sports for a bit because of pressure from family members is actually a good point.  A lot of the players have bills to pay, yes, but many of them are in a financially secure position and don't need to take an extra risk.

I don't follow the WNBA or…

I don't follow the WNBA or anything, but I'm glad it exists.

You write, "The fact that…

You write, "The fact that you know about it is proof that it's being taught."

This is flatly false.  Much of US Middle and High School History curricula do not involve an in-depth study of much of anything, much less the shortcomings of our own nation.  If you want to learn about these topics in-depth you almost have to either self study (online or off) or purposely take a class about the matter in college.

Dude you need to relax.  The…

Dude you need to relax.  The guy who runs the site puts in a ton of effort for what is essentially a passion project.  If he wants to put BEWBS on his site that's his call.  You don't have to visit.  Relax with the name calling.

I hear what you're saying,…

I hear what you're saying, but (and this is an honest question), which of our recent transfers have gone on to be successful players at a high-major college level?  I can think if Asiasi, but again, his transfer was not due to playing time.  Any one else?  Maybe some of these guys are leaving because they can't really hack it.

So I don't totally disagree,…

So I don't totally disagree, but you must understand how terribly this would go over, yes?

The issue you're running…

The issue you're running into is that "6th best winning percentage over a 70 year span" speaks more to consistency than "coming in 6th" in a given season.  Since hiring Harbaugh, Michigan has the 10th best winning percentage in college football (we're actually #11, but I'm excluding Appalachian State).  We're essentially tied with:  Penn State, LSU, and Notre Dame for #8-11.

That said I do hear what you're about Harbaugh falling short of expectations, but that larger point I'm making is that our expectations were probably not properly adjusted for the reality of what Michigan is in the modern landscape of college football.

I hear what you're saying,…

I hear what you're saying, but we need to face some facts:

1) You're right - we had the highest winning percentage, but that winning percentage was bolstered by a lot of wins before WW2. Since 1946, we're actually 6th in winning percentage.  We're behind:  Boise State, Oklahoma, OSU, PSU, and Alabama.  We're actually pretty significantly behind OSU (6%)

2)  Our winning percentage since WW2 is ~71%.  Harbaugh (~73%) is actually doing slightly better than Michigan has done, historically, in the modern era.

I'm not trying to be holier…

I'm not trying to be holier than thou, and I'm not sure why my comment was taken that way.  The upshot of what I said stands:  When the university hired Harbaugh we made some changes to how we treat the program, and the players/recruits. We "leveled up" to a top-15 program.  If we want to "level-up" again to a Top-5 program, we need to start acting like one.  I'm not advocating for either choice, I'm just identifying the issue, as I see it.

I think the better question…

I think the better question for the University is, "What is UofM willing to change regarding it's program and recruiting practices in order to level the playing field with OSU?"   The answer to that question determines what you do about Harbaugh.

I think, more than anything,…

I think, more than anything, what getting Harbaugh has shown to the fanbase is that we're not a head coach away from being a playoff team.  We were a head coach away from getting back to what Michigan was historically (~.750 winning percentage, top-15 team).   We were never a consistent top-5 program in the modern era.  This wasn't too much of a problem, but once OSU made the leap to a consistent top-5 team, it showed us exactly how far away from that standard we are.

Those expectations for Harbaugh were rooted in an idea that Michigan = OSU.  Which, historically, was accurate.  Harbaugh brought Michigan back to being Michigan (in terms of winning percentage).  OSU, however, took a huge leap forward with Meyer that Harbaugh couldn't (or, depending on what you believe about paying for recruits, wouldn't) replicate.

Hasn't Auburn been about…

Hasn't Auburn been about where we have been in recent recruiting rankings?  They've won 4 of the last 10 Iron Bowls, and Alabama is better than OSU over that period.

charmed, i'm sure.

charmed, i'm sure.

I bet

I bet when Brandon was riding the bench for Bo's teams that he'd thought that he'd love to hear the Big House chanting his name.  I wonder how it felt on Saturday.

I DON'T KNOW WHAT WE'RE

I DON'T KNOW WHAT WE'RE YELLING ABOUT

It's not just the best

It's not just the best Michigan site.  Look around at the other college football sites.  MGoBlog blows them away in terms of content.  We're lucky to have to space.  Even though I don't post often, I visit it every day.

"Hoke will never fire

"Hoke will never fire Borges."  I agree, but maybe he can help his buddy Al by calling up Eastern Michigan and landing him a head coaching gig there....

Is it bad

that I skim most of these except for the MGoQuestions?  I find them most insightful anyways.

I hear that, but at some

I hear that, but at some point "you are what your record says you are*."  NW is in last place in probably the most inept major conference.

Yes!  I completely agree.

Yes!  I completely agree.  Sounds like he's throwing Denard, the only reason he had any success on offense in the past 2 seasons, under the bus.  The longer this year goes on, the more valuable Denard proves to have been.  It makes my skin crawl that Borges complains about him like that.  Weak shit, Al.

While we're on the subject of

While we're on the subject of appreciating former players, anyone who criticized Denard should probably tuck their tail between their legs.  I mean, that guy's magic basically won us like half a dozen games over the past 2 seasons.

RR never had a "full

RR never had a "full compliment of his own players."

Agreed.  Lewan's antics cause

Agreed.  Lewan's antics cause me to think less of him as a player, and Hoke's (non) response causes me to think less of him as a coach.  That said, my opinion isn't worth shit, and the current athletic administration keeps reminding me of this fact.  sigh.

Still not sure about the

Still not sure about the decision to not onside kick after the flag on the touchdown.

This must be sarcasm.

This must be sarcasm.

Right -

Also the IRAs "kicked" out clubs, not because they were "too good" and finishing in the top-10, but rather becuase some ADs (ahem, Rutgers...) decided to relegate their varsity men's programs to club programs because "clubs can still compete for a national title against varsity teams in men's rowing."   The IRA wasn't fearful of the competition as much as they were about the possilbe implication of funding issues to member schools if clubs were allowed to compete at the top regatta.

...right.  The Ivy

...right.  The Ivy League/Pac12 dominates D1 college rowing.  Michigan would probably be top-20 consistently, but we're not on the same level and the real "big boys" in that sport....yet.

who cares?  it looks sweet

who cares?  it looks sweet now.

How much did the offensive

How much did the offensive scheme shift affect Roy's targets?  Denard attempted ~30 fewer passes in 2011 than he did in 2010.  I wonder how much Roy's targets dropped.

Just re-read my post, and I think I worded it poorly.  I guess "disappointed" isn't the feeling.  I'm just hoping for more.  These kids deserve a BCS game after all the shit they've been through.
