A healthy Howard has been giving up tons of goals all year. He's gotta get back on track or Gustavsson will earn the starting role.
Howard got tons of losses even when they were scoring and is TERRIBLE at shootouts this year. Gustavsson isn't getting goal support and is way better at shootouts (the one against Tampa Bay was a great effort by him in a SO loss)
|2 days 10 hours ago||Roster||
Gustav started the year in the AHL because Holland re-signed Cleary which took the last roster spot. Tatar couldn't get sent back down without clearing waivers (he absolutely would have been picked up) so they sent Nyquist back down. But he's now played enough NHL games that if they send him back down he'd have to clear waivers (he absolutely would be picked up) so he's in the NHL to stay.

... for himself and his career. Nothing to see here, move along.
I sure wouldn't want to leave MSU for Texas if I had built up that program like he did.

If that's what they want, i think they should pull Bill O'Brien from PSU. He managed to win a lot last year with marginal talent, imagine what he'd do with a team stacked like the (not nittany) Lions?

Hey, I'd love it if I could walk into Blimpy burger and eat without paying a cent but it doesn't work that way. MGoBlog isn't a traditional business; most people visit this site and gain a lot of entertainment without actually paying a cent. The donation tab gives them a way to donate, if they want. Or not. You don't have to donate. What Blimpy burger is saying is "if you want to eat our burgers again, donate"
They should've been ready for this move, they've had a couple of years to save up money to move.

I'd say I'm not superstitious at all and don't care about Friday the 13th at all but put me in front of a baseball game with a no-hitter going (or hockey with an ongoing shutout) and suddenly there's that one little phrase I won't mention...

And then when they don't move as you're creeping forward or trip in the snow trying to get out of the way it's your fault for running them over.

And Miller grabbing his facemask at the time was just a friendly 'hi there' that doesn't warrant a penalty? Typically physical extracurriculars are frowned on more than verbal ones.

I've only had their pizza once but I definitely have to agree with you. Their deep dish and sicilian pizzas are great. I got a pizza that had whole cloves of garlic as a topping.
Cottage Inn is a close second.

Holland now is limited by the salary cap, not an unlimited pizza wallet.
Considering the players they've drafted and brought up (and not traded) Holland's doing a great job.

But UCLA's coach burned one intentionally to cancel it out.
I think I remember seeing it this year, a team was docked 15 yards at the beginning of both halves - Arkansas State vs. Auburn.

Wearing a special uniform makes it seem like the game isn't special enough on its own, we need to make it more special by adding crazy unis.
|4 weeks 5 days ago||57 sounds about right||
I'd say 57 out of 120 isn't really that good of an offense; it's slightly worse than RR's best defense. Those numbers seem about right to me.
|7 weeks 5 days ago||Yes||
Whoever "initiates the contact" doesn't matter. The fielder was in between the runner and home plate, thus impeding the baserunner. The 'base path' is misleading because it's from where the runner was after sliding into third to home plate. When a player rounds first to stretch a single into a double, he's usually about 5 feet out of the 'base path' - this defines a new shortest-distance path to the next base. This play was wonky because he slid into third and was on the field side of third rather than the stands side, but the concept is the same.

He may be despised, but he got a better job, sadly.
|10 weeks 4 days ago||Tacopants||
On this blog the problem is that our standards are low - we're too used to inaccurate passes being throws to Tacopants. Realistically, you can have balls that are caught and inaccurate but aren't thrown to nine foot tall imaginary people.

There wasn't a 0% chance they were going to win that challenge. From one angle, the guy's feet were the only thing still behind the line, and that should have been conclusive evidence. If he reviews that and they get it, NW would have very likely won.
Still, he shouldn't have had to call the timeout, they should have reviewed it by themselves.

Hoke wasn't trying to call a TO for the adjustment; he said afterwards the adjustment was correct but he thought they were going to run out of time.

The D-linemen got push and the QB dropped back into Taylor's blitz. So yeah, he got the sack but the D-line helped a lot.
|13 weeks 9 hours ago||Also,||
You make it seem like it's no penalty and really easy to just switch universities in the middle of your degree. It may be better than staying in a crippled department but for most people it isn't something they want to have to do, even if they can start playing right away for the new team.

Football players were. The other athletics, which will be affected by the decrease in athletic department funding were not.
|13 weeks 9 hours ago||Cultural Problem||
There absolutely was a cultural problem but in that sense, the sanctions not only failed but made it worse - the fans mostly felt like the penalties were ridiculously excessive and felt persecuted. This had the *opposite* effect that was intended and merely made the fans and team get defensive.
|13 weeks 9 hours ago||Transfer||
Unless I'm mistaken, it was only the football athletes that were allowed to transfer. Since Penn State's Athletic Department (like every other University in the B1G) uses money made from football to support other sports, maybe they should have been allowed to transfer too.
|13 weeks 9 hours ago||Bad analogy||
Equating a nuclear family to an athletic department is kinda dumb. If you want to keep with this analogy, the extra punitive damages equates to locking up the kids in jail too (doesn't normally happen!). Your analogy is bad, and you should feel bad.
|13 weeks 17 hours ago||And those people deserve to||
And those people deserve to be punished. They deserve to be in jail, and they deserve to be sued by the victims for monetary compensation. Instead, the NCAA is penalizing all of the student athletes at PSU for something they don't even have jurisdiction over - this should have been left to the legal system.
This isn't about correcting behavior. Half the penalties the NCAA gave PSU would have accomplished the same: made sure no one else would cover up events like this. It's become a witch hunt where everyone associated with PSU athletics must be punished, regardless of whether they are students or not.
|13 weeks 1 day ago||Best, Game 7 of Western Conference Finals||
Best was Game 7 of the Western Conference Finals: Detroit Red Wings against the Anaheim Ducks. Second playoff Wings game I ever went to; Detroit took an early lead, then Anaheim came back and tied it before Cleary scored late to pull Detroit ahead. It was a flukey play where Cleary pushed the puck in with the goalie's pad; virtually identical to a play that Anaheim had won a game on against Detroit during the regular season. Justice was served.
Worst, The Horror. 'nuff said.
|13 weeks 4 days ago||Technicality?||
Maybe it doesn't count on a technicality because they sold the tickets to Miami and Miami didn't re-sell them?
|13 weeks 4 days ago||Ticket Prices||
Unless I'm mistaken they raised the donation bar for getting season tickets this last offseason so a bunch of people said 'to hell with this' and didn't get them.
I can't imagine the tiered pricing ever came into effect with this game though...
