Joakim Soria to Pirates

Tittle says it all. Short bullpen for tigers tonight against my Orioles.

Your title says something, but the message says nothing.  I can't find anything yet on the Detroit papers or ESPN.  I want to see what "major league ready" prospects we get.

Championships, championships, and more championships for the Maize and Blue (and eventually for the Tigers and Red Wings, too.)

Ok, and also that Brian raises the OP threshold to 1000. And, of course, world peace.

It'll be interesting who will close for this team. Rondon has really struggled. Feliz hasn't been much better. I say throw the amazing Al in there. Or even give Hardy a shot.

It might work out better than expected. At least we'll get an idea of Norris, because he'll be starting this weekend. Verlander seems to be getting it together. Anibal will be okay. So a rotation of those three guys in 2016 may be solid. Get a 4th and 5th guy somewhere and this team should be cool.

I'm not worried about the offense at all either, as long as Victor and Miggy and JD stay fairly healthy.

Seriously. I don't understand why people can't comprehend what the Tigers are doing. All the players are free agents at the end of the year and the Tigers can't compete. The only rational move was to trade them for something of value.

The return for Soria is SS JaCoby Jones, a top 10-15 prospect in the Pirates organization depending on which ranking service you prefer.  Based on Pirate fan reactions, though, they like him better than many of the prospects ranked ahead of him.  Speed/power guy from what I understand.

Yes, sounds like the Pirates were trying to move him to SS due to organizational depth in the OF.  Tigers should be set with Iglesias for a while, so OF would seem like the place to go.  He played centerfield at LSU, would be nice to have some pop from that position - AJax and Davis/Gose have some good qualities, but the power from that position hasn't been there since Granderson was dumped.

For the first time in a decade, but happy DD and co realized this team was not gonna do shit and they are trying to beef up the farm/team for players they may not have resigned anyway. Hopefully they play spoiler the rest of the year and screw some contenders over with a win or two along the way.

It is always a role of the dice when trading for these prospects, but it would be awesome if one of these guys turns out to be the next Miggy or Verlander.
