Let me start by saying I…

Let me start by saying I hope Harbaugh is back. But if his heart is in the NFL he needs to make it known to the AD so they can start talking to Moore now. In that case let JH coach through the National Champioship with SM as the interim.

Still not to optimistic

Hate to be the Debbie Downer, but the first paraph reads:

"Michigan left tackle Grant Newsome still holds the goal of being medically cleared to return to football by the start of the 2018 season"

If he isn't available by spring practices you have to wonder how ready he'll be for the season after being out so long.  I hope I'm wrong and very happy to see that he is still improving, but the pessimist in me can't see how he'll possibly be ready and playing at his pre-injury level.

Funny Guy

Pretty funny.  My post was probably a little dumb, and worded wrong.  It was more in reference to people above bailing on Peppers and people in other threads wishing we had that game changing running back.  I was just wondering if maybe he could have been used different and had even more success.

What if Pepper's had played

What if Pepper's had played RB here instead of D. After the loss, a lot of people said we need a D Cook type player to get over the hump. We had that type of player, but had him at another position. Would his play making ability at RB compensated for the down grade that would have happened at LB this year? If he had been at RB all along would recruiting priorities have changed over the last 2 cycles?

I'd be mad

I'd be pretty mad if it was used for that instead of changing a few play calls in 2 games this year.

Are they upset

Is Nebraska upset that they're playing in the Music City Bowl though.  UT fans were planning on getting into the Sugar bowl.  I live between Knoxville and Nashville and have co-workers who have said they wouldn't go to the game if they were given tickets.

Deja Vu

Seems like I've heard this before in the recent pact only the names have changed.

Blueshirt?

Brian had also mentioned possible blueshirts.  I'm not exactly sure what all the rules are on blueshirts, but isn't one of them not taking an official visit?

Why do kids these days feel Why do kids these days feel the need to drop "literally" in everything they write/say? Yeah, get off my lawn.

XBMC box

I bought a XBMC box from Amazon and watched the UT/App and Minnesota/OSU games last night.  Picture quality was perfect.

Rumors

In the section with Grant Delpit, and the S position recruiting you mentioned the rumors of 1 or 2 freshman WR not being on the roster this fall.  I had read that there was a rumor, but all I've seen is people speculating on one or the other.  Is it possible we are losing both?

8 hr drive

Coming from TN, it's about an 8 hr drive for me.  Went to the game last year and was looking forward to bringing my kids with me this year.  Between skipping work/school I don't know if I can make it now either.  A Saturday game would have made it much easier for anyone not in the immediate area.

Hoke

I never complained about Hoke's policy, and actually prefered it.  His recruiting classes were all highly ranked, and while most of the class was filled early he always left spots available for highly rated guys at the end- we just didn't usually land them.  All this does is show recruits in following cycles that there is no point in committing to UM earlier than 2 weeks before NSD.

What's unbelievable

What did he say that is unbelievable?

Karma

Karma coming back to bite us.  Maybe he feel that he'll get more playing time at UT.  If everybody thinks that we shouldn't be upset with what happened with Swenson because he'll be able to get more playing time elsewhere, can we be upset when a recruit makes that decision on his own and not waiting for the staff to tell him that at the last minute?

Be honest

Exactly how does your honest conversation with hypothetical recruit go?  Do the coaches walk in say something like

"We think you suck, and would rather you go somewhere else.  We'll honor your scholarship if you make us, but just know that you'll ride the bench and not see any playing time.  So see, it's really better for both of us if you go ahead and pick another school to attend."

Put it however you want, but that is exactly what the recruit will take from the conversation.  There are articles going back to last spring where Swenson was quoted as saying that the staff was communicating with him at least every other week so at one point this staff was fairly high on him I would think.  To do this at the last moment to a recruit who has been committed for so long is dirty.  There is no other way to put it, it is dirty and exactly why we have criticized SEC schools in the past.  Just because we have started doing it doesn't make it right, and I see no point in trying to act like it does.

Agreed

He did show a lot of improvement his SO year and had slimmed down.  But this past year, whether it was due to being behind other players or something else, he seems to have lost any desire.

Desire?

I never saw the desire.  He showed up his Fr year overweight, and the last time I saw him in a game this year he was looking...soft?

2 years left

With 2 years of elegibility left he could still possibly meet your initial expectations.

My recollection is fine

My recollection of where he was recruited to play, and who was ahead of who is just fine.  If you would recall, Glasgow started 9 games at C before playing G so to say he had "some" experience is a bit of an understatement.  I'll admit that I wasn't very clear when I asked if he should start over Braden or Kalis, but I was meaning that more like if he started at C, Glasgow moves to G, and one of those 2 get bumped.  Which of the 2 long time starters should it have been?  To many people on this board, it raises eyebrows if someone isn't starting by the Soph season.  I prefer to not have ot watch Fresh/Soph starting along the OL if possible. Kulgler has 2 years of eligibility left which gives him plenty of time to meet expectations.

Kugler

I don't really understand why people are down on Kugler.  He was behind Glasgow who has been possibly the best along the OL that we have had over the last 3 years.  Did anyone really expect for him to take the job away?  Should he have taken a spot from Braden or Kalis?

We need all the competition we can get so I'm all for bringing in Raulerson, but to insinuate that a player with 2 years of eligibility may not have a "breakthrough" because he was behind one of our better players doesn't seem reasonable.  Yes I do realize there has been speculation that Cole would move to C, but a lot of that seems to be from the spring when the new staff was moving people around and Glasgow was in trouble.

Drop weight

I'll start by saying I don't think it'll happen, but playing BB could be a good way to drop weight if he's planning to move over to WDE.  I know there are other ways to drop weight that aren't as likely to lead to injury, but they're not nearly as fun either.

Agreed

We're putting a great class together, but I agree that we won't end up #1 even with Gary.  If GA finishes with the players that they are favored for they will likely have the #1.  They already have 2 5*'s  (both top 10 players), and favored for 3 more.  Also favored for 3 more 4*'s.

Volnation?

I had a couple co-workers come into my office yesterday and tell me.  I try not to pay much attention to the Vols because my feelings for them are very similar to many on this blogs feeling for State.  I went ahead and looked at Volnation this morning though and there was a thread about Hoke.  I didn't read the whole thing, but the OP didn't say where he heard that Hoke was a serious candidtate.  Just said that he read it somewhere. Don't know if my co-workers had read it on that site or somewhere else.

Hoke

I live in TN so I've been hearing about this from their fans for a couple days.  They say that Hoke is another DC candidate if Shoop's buyout is a problem.

Desire?

He may have the frame, but has he ever shown the desire?  How willing is he to be a lead blocker?  Shallman seem the more likely to make the move, and may be open to the move after seeing how Houma was used this year.

Greyshirts and decommits

Its been mentioned that some recruits were told they would be greyshirts, and it's expected a few will decommit from the class.  I'd expect that to be 3-6 of the current commits who won't be in this class.

Linebacker

He was a LB according to this article.

It's very good I think those three would be a very good group, and don't believe I said they wouldn't be. Is there something wrong with wanting to make it even better. You're also assuming that we are getting Gary. That group doesn't look as good when it's just Jobnson and Elliot. Both of us have left off Weaver of course, but with him looking around who knows if he'll end up in the class. We also are facing a big turnover on the OL an DL in the 2017 season. Having a full group with at least a years experience would go a long ways towards finding people to step in when that happens.
Would have liked both Would have been nice to get them both. Onwenu could have switched to DT if we miss out on Gary, and Davis take over the OG spot in this class. We only have 4 spots right now, but I think most agree it will be a few more after attrition and grey shirts. We would have had a great OL and DL class if we pulled it off, especially with Gary's ability to play the strong side DE.
Plan C? Michael O (on my phone and don't want to butcher his last name) could possibly switch to DT as well. That's why I don't agree with slow playing Davis at OG.
Lafayette He played LB and coached the position at Lafayette so he does have some experience even though it was at a lower level. http://espn.go.com/blog/ncfnation/post/_/id/108381/chris-partridge-brin…
I've got the spoilers

I don't comment enough to get many points so I've decided to hold a mgoblog ransom.  If I don't have XXXX points by 5pm I'm dropping the spoils.  By the end of the day I'll either be using my ill-gotten points to become a legitimate member or trying to survive in Bolivia.

Cheating

And we held our heads high saying the B1G doesn't cheat.

5 state's *5 of the most talent-rich states.
Marcus Lewis

Is Marcus Lewis being being recruited by the new staff? He's a highly rated, big/fast CB that had a lot of interest even when we were losing last year. Seems like that would have been one of the first recruits we would have targeted. Wasn't he also committed to UF? Durkin must have liked what he saw at one time.

Harbaugh hasn't been an OC. Harbaugh hasn't been an OC. Started as a grad assistant at WKU, moved to QB coach at Oakland, then to head coach at USD. Not saying that he wasn't heavily involved in the offensive game planning, but he wasn't a OC. I've tried looking, but can't find if he was the play caller at USD. Doesn't really matter as that offense was very good. I guess I'd just like to see Drevno get the credit if he was the play caller. While everybody seems excited about his ability to coach up the OL, he may actually be a very good OC as well.
Drevno playcaller?

I've heard over and over by every board member that Harbaugh will be calling plays, but wonder where this comes from.  Has Harbaugh said that he was calling plays?  Is it because we can't imagine an OL coach actually being a good OC?

My question for the staff or anyone who knows is:  Who was the playcaller under Harbaugh at San Diego.  The offense was great and Drevno was the OC.  A USC blog (I know it's not a reliable source) claimed Drevno was the actual playcaller as well.  If he was indeed the playcaller then why can we not believe that he may be the playcaller here.  I would definately enjoy having a similar offense.

He's been my #2 CC hope as

Slow computer double post.  I'll wait before hitting save again in the future.

He's been my #2 CC hope as

He's been my #2 CC hope as well.  Not only because of this year, but also the QB change that was made last year when Miller was injured.  From what I remember Guiton was more of a traditional QB and he excelled in the offense.

Premature Evacuation Premature evacuation
Link? I've heard this a few times, but haven't seen anything that confirms it. I'm assuming the school wouldn't release this information, and I would guess he wouldn't either so where is this coming from? After reading a TN blog lately I'm skeptical of any so called "insider" information.
24/7 service

Sorry to move from the OP's topic, but this is still somewhat related to recruiting.  I signed up for their free subscription last year and canceld before the deadline and was still charged.  Just wanted to pass it on to anybody else who signed up that they may want to check their cc statements this month.

Buried on depth chart

I'm not so sure that he was buried as far on the depth chart as far as many saying.  I know I'll sound crazy, but yesterday the link I've added said to look for Del Rio to possibly emerge as the starter for Alabama this year.  It has obviosly been updated since then- the title says 9 freshman but in the body it says 10, and Alabama is still tagged after the story.  The section was written by a supposed Alabama insider.

Posting I'm on here much more than I should be. With news as slow as it has been I've only looked every few hours lately.

As far as posting, what's the point when you get negged for adding your opinion.
Top 3 quality I think the quality would be top 3, but the numbers of commits is not there for a final top 3 ranking. I also think this prediction is overly optimistic vi think there will be a few commits who nobody is mentioning at the moment/ unknown. Also, the optimism will Hand is confusing Io me. The last I've read he said he doesn't have any favorites at the moment. I know everybody is excited that his only official at the time is here, but that shows that there is interest.

Sorry if anybody has posted similar opinion. I'm at work and typing between calls.
Jason Whitlock comment on Hoke

Sorry if this was already posted, but Jason Whitlock also mentioned Hoke in his recent article "Bubble doesn't help black QB's".  I don't usually like Whitlock's stuff, but I though the Hoke comments were pretty good.
