Cheers to Grant.

Spoke well upon receiving Courage award at the all state fp banquet.

Well done Grant. Keep working baby.

Go Blue.

This would be amazing.

Just the other day I realized I had been thinking all along "I can't wait until Grant Newsome is back!" and not enough of "I sure hope Grant Newsome will one day be able to be back..."

Definite game changer. Who knows what will happen in the end re. football, but, either way, a Michigan Man through and through.

He's been through a lot with his leg and probably has a ways to go still to be game ready.  Hopefully he can return but man he's gonna be an inspiration for a lot of kids who have all sorts of illnesses and issues to show that they too can recover, regardless of if he plays football again or not.

he said he hopes to return "as soon as possible". Which I assume means he still isn't medically cleared. Some comments seem to allude to the fact that he is back and ready to go, which at this point, doesn't seem to be true. I, like many of you, want Newsome back in the worst way. Just want to make sure that people aren't getting ahead of themselves.

Hate to be the Debbie Downer, but the first paraph reads:

"Michigan left tackle Grant Newsome still holds the goal of being medically cleared to return to football by the start of the 2018 season"

If he isn't available by spring practices you have to wonder how ready he'll be for the season after being out so long.  I hope I'm wrong and very happy to see that he is still improving, but the pessimist in me can't see how he'll possibly be ready and playing at his pre-injury level.

I cannot remember rooting for a Michigan player as much as I'm rooting for Newsome to return. The positive attitude he's maintained is, in and of itself, amazing.

Grant Newsome is awesome and inspirational. Anyone counting on him to be part of the line next year is deluding themselves. This is a lot like Austin Hatch getting himself back into playing basketball, an incredible story of triumph, but there just wasn't a chance he would ever get 100% back to the player he was.  Newsome will succeed at whatever he does, it just likely won't be suiting up as Michigan LT against ND in 2018 and there is nothing wrong with that.

Am I the only one that thinks this is a dumb thread? “Grant Newsome hopes to return 6 months after he is a available” may have been thread worthy.

I'm trying to parse this to see if there is any new information.

About all I can surmise is that Newsome hasn't definitively been told he will never play again (hopes to be back), but also that he hasn't been medically cleared to practice with the team.

I suppose know that "there's a chance" is better than nothing. Still, not a lot to see here.
