Last 5 Crystal Balls on Terrance Davis gone Maryland's way

Submitted by Lakeyale13 on
FYI. Confident he is gone and Delance is in. Another Crystal Ball for him and Crawford today.

Would have been nice to get them both. Onwenu could have switched to DT if we miss out on Gary, and Davis take over the OG spot in this class. We only have 4 spots right now, but I think most agree it will be a few more after attrition and grey shirts. We would have had a great OL and DL class if we pulled it off, especially with Gary's ability to play the strong side DE.

I think those three would be a very good group, and don't believe I said they wouldn't be. Is there something wrong with wanting to make it even better. You're also assuming that we are getting Gary. That group doesn't look as good when it's just Jobnson and Elliot. Both of us have left off Weaver of course, but with him looking around who knows if he'll end up in the class. We also are facing a big turnover on the OL an DL in the 2017 season. Having a full group with at least a years experience would go a long ways towards finding people to step in when that happens.

Bredeson has always been a guard.  With Onwenu and Bredeson at guard, and Swenson and Hamilton as RTs who could also play guard, the coaches really need a true LT prospect which Delance is.  And even if he's rated lower on the recruiting sites, the coaches have him way up on their board, they love his potential.

sit back and milk the process. Many of them can. I can't really remember when we were turning away 4 star recruits like this due to numbers. It should be very interesting to see this play out in future classes. We may see Harbaugh slow play more kids and we may see more higher ranked kids committ early. Regardless Michigan is a hot place to be right now.

Despite only Ace and a 247 basketball writer (today) who picked Delance to UM the timing of all this feels "positive".  Webb said last week Davis was going to be a NSD decision and then suddenly he moved it up to this Saturday - the same time Delance said he would announce.

It would indicate to me (and I am not using my homer glasses i.e everyone that did not pick UM was "cooled on") that like Pie Young he wanted to be a Wolverine but UM has higher rated guys on their board and said higher guy on board seems to be turning our way.

Truly 1st world problems to turn away a top 75 guard.

I just wish Wiltfong and/or Lorenz (preferably both) would weigh in - they don't even have a cloudy ballz or Texas pick in for him; just no pick at all which is rare for a commit UM is heavily involved with.

Looking at LSU's "warm interest" it is bevy of top 100 players - a sickening amount so I even wonder if they have room for Delance really.  They are in for so many players in the last month it is amazing esp considering Miles is no sure thing there long term.

p.s. totally unrelated, Bredenson said he would be competing specifically at right guard next year even though down the road he could be at other positions.  Shots fired Mr. Kalis.  Would be nearly unheard of a true freshman to displace a 5th year senior but at least we know where he is going to compete.

That's not a "shots fired" moment. Thats just finding out where Bredeson is starting out. Kalis will be gone after 2016, so they are giving Bredeson the chance to learn that position first to take it over eventaully. Out of the OL coming in, Bredeson is said to have the most positional flexibility, so down the road he might be best suited to fix a hole if one of the others doesnt pan out.

I'd rather have Delance any day. Not a knock on Davis, they're both great prospects, but the more kids from Texas the better. If we can get a foothold in Texas while UT and A&M implode...yes please

That only lasts as long as those guys are down, and ignores the fact that Baylor, TCU and a bunch of SEC schools are cleaning up most of them... Texas - like Michigan - will be back eventually, and then they will recruit Texas like they always have.

I'd love to get Delance, but I don't think its going to have a big impact on recruiting Texas.

My point is that I don't think you can just take 'the best available' with the amount of holes the roster is going to have after the 2016 season.  There's already 4 OL committed, with seemingly Delance targeted (have read that Delance s really high up on the coaches overall board) as the 5th.  This coming after taking 4 OL last class.  Those are good numbers.  And who committed from the satelitte camps committed?  Dytarious Johnson (LB), Weaver (DT), Enis (RB), Vic (ATH/LB), Richardson (CB).  UM also took McKeon (TE) at it's own camp, St Juste (reclassified 2017 CB) was obscure, and Sir Patric Scott (CB) are the only under the radar committs UM took this summer I think.  I look at that list and I don't see someone who took Davis' spot.  UM needs DTs, LBs, TE's, more than a 6th OL in this class.  Enis is already looking elsewhere (as is Weaver it seems), so it's basically two CBs taken that may take spots from high rated guys UM has wanted and needs (Long and Hill).

And frankly, I hate to say it, but if Harbaugh wanted to make room for a 6th OL, he would.
