Kinda sad that America's higher ed workers are dumb enough to register on that site with their work emails.

That was my first thought as well.  I wonder how many of these were students though. I saw on TV the other day that a lot of the accounts were single dudes looking for cougars. That I can see using your .edu account because who cares if you get caught.

Not gonna lie though, I searched the list for Dave Brandon because he would be stupid/arrogant enough to use his umich email.  Bummer.

K. I don't know why people are surprised that there are university and government e-mail addresses on here. Obviously people, mostly guys, from all walks of life like to sleep around. Also, none of those schools are surprising to see. Looks like schools with larger enrollments had more people on Ashley Madison...

I'm guessing that societal and social pressures have made cheating wives somewhat smarter and better at it. Maybe also less likely to use a website?

It's like the news stories of high school teachers who get caught sleeping with a student: they only seem to catch the female teachers...because the teenage guys are stupid and talk about it. Wherevare the men. Two possibilities:

1) fewer male teachers sleep with female students
2) the female students keep quiet about i

My money is on (2).

No-one is covered in glory in this thing except for the divorce lawyers.  Also considering Michigan is on this list as well, pointing and laughing may not be the best approach.

I don't cheat on my wife, at least I haven't yet, but I also don't think that people who make a mistake should have their lives ruined.

And it's not just this Ashley Madison thing.  It keeps happening over and over again with social media and our obsession with being outraged over everything.

10 years ago if you said or did something stupid, the only consequence was the person in front of you taking a swing at you.  Now?  That person records the interaction, posts it on instagram and youtube, then sets up a go fund me page to solicit donations to help pay for PTSD therapy caused by your microagression.

I guess I'm just saying that the world was better off when we all had some damn privacy.

No, but the consequences should be limited to the people involved. Think of the victim in this situation. You know what would be worse than your spouse cheating on you?.. your spouse cheating on you and having that fact blasted all over the world and hearing the echos until the end of time.

Keep in mind, though, that the consequences of adultery aren't just limited to the people having the affair. If someone with children is cheating on their spouse, they're cheating on their family, too.

Some people on this board are quick to criticize high school football players who change their commitment when it comes to choosing a college. I would think that a commitment to a spouse and the children they have together is worth at least as much.

So the world was so much better off when we could all quietly be scumbags and cheat on and deceive the very people we purportedly care about instead of valuing honesty and manning up and finding a solution for the family based on truth and honesty?

Strawman then grandstand. You should run for office.

No one is saying that cheating is ok and people should be able to live their lies with impunity. What we're saying is it's not the place of strangers to bring about that truth. In these types of situations the truth typically comes out anyway.

Do you ever read what you write before you post "valuing honesty, manning up, fidning solutions based on truth and honesty." All this shit your saying is completely obvious to everyone here and saying this self congratulating trite brings nothing of value to the conversation. Please come back when you're capable of recognizing the nuance of a situation.
