OT: Ashley Madison hack is filled with .edu addresses
The Ashley Madison hack is the gift that keeps on giving (unless you were a member). Turns out there are a lot of .edu emails addresses registered on the site. This site ranked the top 10 .edu addresses.
There you go, Dantonio, you finally got that #1 ranking. #SpartansWill cheat.

Big Ten schools in general have lots of students. I believe OSU, MSU, and Penn State are all in the top 5.

opts for incestuous-oriented sites.
Kentucky, Alabama, and Auburn fans have an unusually high number of registered accounts on PimpMySister.com.

I always thought they would be more of a StubHub.com crowd, surfing the site looking for some hot, single amputees.

the preference for farm animals. I haven't been on the site so maybe they have a farm animal section.

I'd be impressed if the SEC kids can even use computers.

I read about one post a day on here that actually makes me snicker out loud. That might be a stretch but this was one did.

Wow. Way to represent B1G.

Kinda sad that America's higher ed workers are dumb enough to register on that site with their work emails.

That was my first thought as well. I wonder how many of these were students though. I saw on TV the other day that a lot of the accounts were single dudes looking for cougars. That I can see using your .edu account because who cares if you get caught.
Not gonna lie though, I searched the list for Dave Brandon because he would be stupid/arrogant enough to use his umich email. Bummer.

There were almost 1,000 emails with @WallStreetFirm email addresses .. seriously, I have an email account just for paypal transactions. you'd think someone in higher education would have a gmail account they'd use. You know like, [email protected]

Perhaps work emails are less likely to be caught by the party most aggrieved by their use of the site... spouses.

half of the B1G east is in the top 10.
Not that I would know anything about having an Ashley Madison account or signing up for one under an assumed identity.

K. I don't know why people are surprised that there are university and government e-mail addresses on here. Obviously people, mostly guys, from all walks of life like to sleep around. Also, none of those schools are surprising to see. Looks like schools with larger enrollments had more people on Ashley Madison...

The one ranking I'm glad Michigan is ranked lower than OSU and MSU.
August 21st, 2015 at 11:23 AM ^
No-one is covered in glory in this thing except for the divorce lawyers. Also considering Michigan is on this list as well, pointing and laughing may not be the best approach.

that Ashley Madison is going to be sued out of existence. If I was outed like that I'd be out for blood.
Also, something like half of all people will have a least one affair during their marriage.

I think it's great that all these people are being exposed. A little bit of karmic justice is great in my opinion.

These people didn't do anything illegal. Immoral, yes, but just because you are a dick doesn't mean you don't deserve privacy.
August 21st, 2015 at 12:11 PM ^
I don't cheat on my wife, at least I haven't yet, but I also don't think that people who make a mistake should have their lives ruined.
And it's not just this Ashley Madison thing. It keeps happening over and over again with social media and our obsession with being outraged over everything.
10 years ago if you said or did something stupid, the only consequence was the person in front of you taking a swing at you. Now? That person records the interaction, posts it on instagram and youtube, then sets up a go fund me page to solicit donations to help pay for PTSD therapy caused by your microagression.
I guess I'm just saying that the world was better off when we all had some damn privacy.

I am a fierce advocate for privacy in the digital age. I also recognize the fact that sometimes life happens and people do things that they later regret.
August 21st, 2015 at 1:48 PM ^
and apparently there should be zero consequences for said things you may regret later, because "life just happens".
August 21st, 2015 at 1:59 PM ^
No, but the consequences should be limited to the people involved. Think of the victim in this situation. You know what would be worse than your spouse cheating on you?.. your spouse cheating on you and having that fact blasted all over the world and hearing the echos until the end of time.
August 21st, 2015 at 2:37 PM ^
exactly.
August 21st, 2015 at 4:42 PM ^
Keep in mind, though, that the consequences of adultery aren't just limited to the people having the affair. If someone with children is cheating on their spouse, they're cheating on their family, too.
Some people on this board are quick to criticize high school football players who change their commitment when it comes to choosing a college. I would think that a commitment to a spouse and the children they have together is worth at least as much.
August 21st, 2015 at 4:57 PM ^
right, so no need to destroy the lives of the victims so people can stroke their nipples in self-righteous satisfaction.
August 21st, 2015 at 1:01 PM ^
"but I also don't think that people who make a mistake should have their lives ruined."
People with a cheating spouse sometimes have their lives ruined. I don't see why the cheaters should be exempt from some misery themselves.
August 21st, 2015 at 2:54 PM ^
how many husbands AND their wives who are on the site, like the pina colada song.
August 22nd, 2015 at 12:56 AM ^
So the world was so much better off when we could all quietly be scumbags and cheat on and deceive the very people we purportedly care about instead of valuing honesty and manning up and finding a solution for the family based on truth and honesty?
August 22nd, 2015 at 5:43 AM ^
Strawman then grandstand. You should run for office.
No one is saying that cheating is ok and people should be able to live their lies with impunity. What we're saying is it's not the place of strangers to bring about that truth. In these types of situations the truth typically comes out anyway.
Do you ever read what you write before you post "valuing honesty, manning up, fidning solutions based on truth and honesty." All this shit your saying is completely obvious to everyone here and saying this self congratulating trite brings nothing of value to the conversation. Please come back when you're capable of recognizing the nuance of a situation.
