One or two times in this game, our defensive backfield is going to get an opportunity. Raymon Taylor, Desmond Morgan, Tom Gordon......someone. Someone will see a ball. A ball rolling on the ground, a duck floating in the air.
The X-Factor is our guys grabbing it and housing it.

We all loved Michigan football. Innocently. Then came the night games, the hype, College Gameday, flyovers, helmet stickers, Legens Patches, Seven Nation Army, the "Michigan fergodsakes" mystique, and even a Final Four.
Now remove it all. No special UTL, no special jerseys. A good-not-great start to the season. Just a regular game with the absence of marketing. And you have a bland taste in your mouth, where that would have once been tasty.

Sugar Bowl - first time in New Orleans...New Year's Day...then Junior Hemingway...Hurricane...enough said about that trip
Notre Dame, 2010 - Shoelaces Flapping in the Wind
Indiana, 2010 - Denard Show. A student-body tailgate that clearly emphasized the tailgate aspect of gameday over the actual game
Illinois, 2005 - those "Muck Fichigan" shirts really shaped my understanding of how great it is to be a Michigan Wolverine
Gator Bowl - fuck cowbells
Purdue, 2008 - Hook and Ladder. The only thing that could be worse than the Gator Bowl.

If a tree falls in the woods and no one is there to hear it...could it start at QB for Michigan St?

The NFL would rather do just what it is doing. Teams use LA as an ever-present threat in the hypothetical sort of way. This way, current NFL cities are forced to pay for new stadiums publicly to appease their owners into not jettisoning for LA.
And LA remains open for the next threat. This is how the Texans franchise settled in Houston, how the Vikings got their new stadium deal in Minneapolis, and it's what faces the Chargers and the Jaguars next.

Does it account for the ~10 quarters Shane Morris will see in mop-up duty?
|3 years 16 weeks ago||Hypothetical Long-term View||
Changing recruits' perceptions of the entire conference would require some sort of drastic differentiation from other conferences. Off the top of my head, the best thing the BIG has going for it (generally) vs SEC, Big 12, etc. is academics.
If every athletic department bought into this vision of investing full-heartedly into the academic lives of its athletes, we could fashion the perception of playing for the BIG school as a prestigious football opportunity. In the same way that academically-geared recruits narrow their lists to Notre Dame, Vandy, Stanford, and Michigan now, we could create a culture which steers top recruits to automatically think, "the Big Ten is where I want to create my future and play top-notch football football."
If there are enough recruits out there who'd be drawn to this type of differentation, I know not. Hell, it's basically the Ivy League. I dunno.

that's just the point. When I listen to my team on the radio, I expect hardcore homerism. Ron Santo with the Cubs used to live and die with every at bat; whenever opposing teams made a play, Ron would groan before the play-by-play guy even made the call.
When Dickerson calls a home run, his voice raises, but half the time he seems like he's cheering for the wrong team. I don't want him to be excited when Paul Konerko goes deep; I want him to share my pain with me.

My junior year of highs schoo, I took the Spring Break Campus Tour of 4-5 schools; the tour concluded in Ann Arbor.
Already having grown up a Wolverine fan, I remember riding in the car past Ocker Field and Yost on the way to my campus visit, thinking, "Let's be real here. These other visits are simply formalities. This is where I'm going, and it's not even close."

Man, does Dakich or ESPN know anything about PR? How can a professional in such a high-profile role get away with such blatant twitter trash talk? Twitter is NO DIFFERENT than standing up and making a statement to a room full of your followers.
Talk about a failure in personal branding. Heck, I re-read each of my own tweets 2-3 times to make sure they're actually worth tweeting.
