I noticed there wasn't a thread put up yet, does anyone have a stream for this game?
Go Blue!!! I predict an 82-55 win.
Here's another one if needed
Levert 5/5 from 3 already.
I kid, of course.
If Caris plays like this all season, the team is likely to succeed.
LeVert is a machine
at this moment. SCSU has 10 points.
he can't miss!
Last year, Caris shot 31.5% from the floor. Now he's putting on a Stauskas-esque performance.
Beilein is a freaking magician.
I'm not complaining because I can watch it but man these camera guys suck. They barely move. And the announcers. Yeesh.
I sometimes feel bad for S. Car St.
Play-by-play guy reached Gus Johnson levels of insanity on that GR3 and-one.
These announcers are much better than last weeks crew.
The Horford-Morgan lineup just wasn't ever going to work. He started LeVert tonight over Morgan and look what happened.
Did this last game too. It's more we remembered how to shoot and SCSU wants to play at a high pace... which is not a good idea against us.
Does John B need supplemental income? I know of an OC position that could use his help...
GR3 apparently improved his game during the offseason by watching film from NBA Jam.
Apparently the team is awake for the first half tonight
Student announcers are painful.
Also, how the hell are you going to leave Stauskas THAT wide open?
I am soooo worried about our basketball team and their slow start Friday night and our swings and misses in recruiting. Seriously, where is this program headed?
Thus far, we've been held under 70 points by every opponent this season. It's time to get worried.
Da fuq did that announcer just say? "That would have been good from the winter of Detroit border!"
Think he said Windsor/Detroit border.
Still didn't make sense, however.
He said it last game too. Didn't make sense then either. At least in this game they are broadcasting the crowd noise.
He seems to be mixing football field goal and basketball 3-pointer metaphors.
That's what I thought at first, but "falls."
I think it was falls and he just sucks at enunciating.
Stauskas from three....Balls
Young man, prepare for internet fame.
Did the commentator just say "Balls" when stauskas hit that three?
He just said "balls" haha. Boom goes the dynamite moment.
"Stauskas from three.....Balls." He said that.
Painful sideline reporting is painful.
Keep working kids, practice, practice, practice and all that.
Over 6 three pointers against Florida? Did he make 6 2/3 threes?
Serious question. I mentioned this in the last thread...
Caris LeVert is blowing up right in front of our face. I think he's going to be more of a factor than Stauskas this year. A little more versatile off the dribble and much better defensively. Do we need to worry about how long LeVert will be on campus more so than Stauskas?
Probably. He looks like a Corey Brewer clone with better handles and finishing ability.
Caris could be the star of this team. You can tell it by JB's excitement whenever he talks about him. He has a more well rounded game than anybody else on the roster right now.
Walton needs to spend a summer with a shooting coach
Ok, I'm officially sick of these announcers. I'm not saying its easy, but the would be infinitely better if they spoke 1/3 as much as they do.
We're on pace to top the Concordia game point total.
I was wondering where you guys were. I was posting in the other thread.
I like that, I'm gonna start using that
It sounds like he has Tourette's
Morgan is stealing our mojo
that is what people who go to the games are referring to when they say 'who wants a FREE PIZZA!'
sounds cheesy like a pro sports event.....do we need that?
I believe we actually use the same PA guy as the Detroit Tigers. I don't care for him either.
Yep, same guy.
"Hey fans!" (Shudder)
Unfortunately, welcome to 2006. He's been doing that for a while and yes, it is the cheesiest thing ever. (PUNS!) Followed closely by "Who Want's a FRRRREEEEEE T-SSHHHIIIIIIIIIRRRRRRT!!!"
Am I wrong for thinking Stauskas is the best shooter in the country?
I figured it out. They lost the scouting report on Stauskas.
That would have been nasty.
Remember Beilein's first couple of years, when his offense would generate tons of great looks but we'd only shoot 30% anyway? "If only we could land a couple of pure shooters" we thought.
We've got some now.
Oh no 2 bigs.
Lots of empty seats.
Some people have to be pessimistic about everything.
How is MSU always so bad at finishing bunnies?
"some big time big men in the big ten" damn I love these commentators
The icing... On top of the cherry... On top of the sundae.
Icing on a sundae?
Young Kentucky team not looking sharp to start.
Would be a much better basketball team if the game was played with 5 basketballs instead of one.
Spacing looked to be an issue again with Horford and Morgan in the game a tthe same time.
on the cherry on the sundae
"That would have been the icing on top of the cherry on top of the sundae"
That's an interesting layout there, sir.
Does Levert have anything to do with the success?
What a stupid question...
I really like Walton & Irvin, 2 awesome additions, makes up a lot of what we lost with Trey & THJ
BTW, thanks for the streams guys, very cool.
Kentucky isn't a team. They're five guys with great individual skills. Takes some time to develop chemistry.
That's why this early season meeting was so unfair. Calipari was right, the poor guy. He has my sympathy.
Gary Harris... why oh why didn't you go pro?
I am already excited for some MSU-M hoops games. These are two great teams.
MSU all over Kentucky
As for our game, I hope all our opponents are so slow to close out on baseline threes. Moving the ball really well, though. SC State is a better team than UMass Lowell, we're just playing much smarter offensively tonight.
I'm not so sure they are btter.
please pleas keep beating Indiana
leading them 65-63 with under 5 to go
I didnt give this game a second thought until your comment.
Same here - I had no idea it was on TV.
Kentucky is shit.
They're going to be a completely different team in March...
Do you think Caris Levert was a big reason for this big lead?
Michigan State is just so much more experienced and disciplined than Kentucky. Kentucky will be incredible in March.
What's concerning to me is that our "start point gaurd" Derrick Walton has ZERO assists. This team is screwed.
If Kentucky had some shooters instead of all this dribble drive into msu's defense. Credit sparty though they look tough in the early going
Sparty is up 10-zip on UK.
but I was sorta late to the punch. This was the closest I could get.
If Stauskas and LeVert shoot the lights out, we should have an easy season? I never would've guessed it.
my good sir.
Man, UK is playing like they're a bunch of high schoolers who haven't played against anybody near as good as them in years.
You could see how the foul call made the UK defender back off and allow that next basket.
Here are the shooting percentage comparisons for each team so far:
|S. CAR. STATE||28.57%||60.00%||66.67%||33.93%|
Hope every Big Ten team wins every game in the non con. Only helps Michigan.
Its on the verge of being a bloodbath ladies and grents
Number 1 in the country? I don't see it
You mean a team that lost in the first round of the NIT last year and lost everybody shouldn't be number 1? Who would have thought?
Still lots of time left but..this is what happens when you automatically christen a bunch of talented freshman as #1.
Sky hook? That's a floater.
Keep in mind that everybody thought Kentucky was going to be good last year. However, they do have a rediculous amount of talent so if Calipari can get them to play as a team...
Kentucky wasn't good last year? Let's be real. Maybe not #1 right now, but talent is talent.
They lost in the first round of the NIT. They were a decent team but played in a very weak conference. I get chills typing that.
Talent is talent. But talent does not make a TEAM, as UK demonstrated last year.
IU escapes by the skin of its teeth, 73-72.
I was all ready to give my brothers-in-law some shit.
Kentucky looks like they're a bunch of freshmen in their first game or something.
Poor Stauskas, getting some pretty questionable calls against him tonight
I love how Stauskas is crashing the boards - six already.
Is their any background on this kid? I know he grew up in Michigan, but didn't appear that State or Mich were in on his recruitment. Given his recruiting ranking that seems odd.
I think there were questions about him qualifying academically.
I thought I remember grades being an issue for him. could be wrong though.
Looks like he has no idea how to run and play defense either.
he also transfered to Rochester High for his Sr. year. He committed to Kentucky early last year.
My Sparty co-workers predicted a 12 point MSU win over UK tonight. Hmm. I want nice things.
Knock knock who's there BOOM SHAKALAKA
It's a block party, bring your cole slaw!
Knock Knock....Who's there!
It's a block party, guys, did you know that?
Bring the potato salad!!! Lol
Who's there? Boom shockalocka!!!! Love it!
Spike is a bad dude. That little hip check there to push the defender out on his bench was nasty.
"Knock-knock, who's there? BOOM SHAKALAKA!" You can't even make this stuff up
Bring your cole slaw! Bring your potato salad! Bring your balls!
And for the love of God bring your unholy iced cherry sundaes! Boom shakalaka!
Hide yo wife, hide yo kids
Announcer just said Boom Shaka Laka after UM score. Flashback to the 60's
we're coming down to earth a little bit but just gotta keep finding the open man
So that you learn to deal wit hthe cold streaks and what works to get through them.
The ball movement has died. Not that we're at risk of losing, but would be nice to finish strong. Bielfeldt wants some playing time, guys.
Did I just hear some Sam Adams over the loud speakers?!
Michigan dance squad girl with the long, wavy dark hair... I'm in love.
Hey! I know her. I should hook you guys up.
/s....you know.. just in case.
Well, my wife might not like it, so...
42 points allowed? Shit...
No it's cool, football team doesn't play until Saturday!
But seriously, SCst has been pretty good from very deep. They'd be minus 9-12 most nights.
I mean I was kind of only kidding. It was 42 with lots of time left to a team that is worse than UM-Lowell. Obviously this comes from a place of very high expectations, but I'm hoping an improved D will help make the difference from losing Hardaway/Burke.
77-42, 10 minutes to go. Here's the live stats if you can't watch a stream:
Walton with a nice pass
That dunk by Stauskas would've been a Game... Blouses.
Horford could get a double-double - already has 10 boards and seven points now.
I don't know why we didn't put the subs in 10 minutes ago.
Horford is now Mr. Clean.
Horford is really improved.
Morgan may have regressed. Or maybe not regressed, but it kinda looks like Michigan's game is just a little too athletic for him now. He seems to be running hard just to keep up.
The offense has no need to go through him nearly as much as it used to. He used to be involved in a lot of pick and rolls and get some easy baskets off of those. His minutes have also decreased, of course. So he's not going to get many touches offensively. I think his defense and rebounding have been solid tonight, honestly. He's blocked two shots, which has to be some kind of career high.
Less touches for Morgan is a win for MBB. Dude can't dribble to save his life, hesitates and goes weak to the rim far too often.
a nice dish by Stauskas. He is more than just a shooter, you guys
On a side note, MSU is really taking it to Kentucky. I'll take experienced seniors over freshman hype any day.
last year, right?
Especially on an offensive line..
I know, I know, I'll see myself out..
STst player with the floor slap. LOL.
Lol the ESPN front page for CBB article is centered on UK, despite their 15 point halftime deficit, saying "MSU is far from defenseless".
Well, no shit, it appears they're dominating them.
Ed: Floor slaps are tacky.
Scheduling Kentucky the first week of the season was a good idea for MSU. They get a "signature win" against a team that isn't that good right now, but probably will be later on, helping their RPI.
Yeah, very smart. MSUs experience is showing. UK is playing like a bunch of Frosh in their first college game ever.
Put McLimans in!
What?! Are you serious?!? Man... :(
GRIII has been forcing it all half
Whole team has really.
Time to bring in the backups, the starters are done.
Not a great last 5 minutes
I hope Horford comes back in and gets that double-double. He's sitting on 9 and 15.
But Walton still out on the floor. Smart. He needs the time.
Yeah, bout time they sat Robinson. All he's done all half is look to make a highlight reel play. Let the game come to you, man. Balls.
Pretty sure our backups would lose to SCst.
I don't agree
That's more like it!! Give it time the team will continue to improve and play John beilein basketball! Big road test comin up
See y'all in Ames.
this is a fun program to watch, I'm so glad it's ours!
I remember watching Beilein's WVU teams in the tournament and thinking, "Man that team is fun to watch. I wish we were like that." And now we are (only with even better players). It's awesome.
I wish Beilein would have settled the guys down in the second half and gotten them to work on the inside game. That in game practice will be important when they go cold against a better team. I guess I just have to be resigned to the fact that a Beilein team is going to keep shooting the 3 no matter how bad a streak they're on. I'm pretty surprised he didn't pull GR3 sooner though as well. He reverted to street ball in the second half trying to make a highlight reel play every time he touched the ball. That's not helpful in a game like this.
Some summary information:
|S. CAR. STATE||35.59%||40.00%||57.89%||40.68%||15.38%||76.92%|
Holy crap... what happens when we get this guy back?
At that point, do we go from Balls to full fledged big boy testes?
Feels good to watch basketball after this football debacle.
