1 year 33 weeks ago	thought he looked	thought he looked better than woolfolk, who didnt seem to be playing well. better than avery too. coaches must have thought so, as well, since he stayed out there after floyd came back. dont think he took anyone's starting spot right away, but i think we have a new regular on the defense. he honestly couldnt have played better for his first real action.
1 year 49 weeks ago	interested in this too, even	interested in this too, even though its probably not going to end in anything. selling a good you own doesnt = income, but if the items were the schools and then his, the transfer in ownership should technically have been income as well, right? for example, winning the championship ring was taxable income if he was making above the minimimum reportable.

2 years 18 weeks ago	this feels imminent. if we	this feels imminent. if we dont conclude the meeting with les as coach tomorrow (or seems likelier tonight) it would be very odd. i have alot of reservations but its far from a disaster. he's proven he can win with other people's talent. and combine the 2011 schedule with les's luck and we very well could be the it story of 2011.
2 years 18 weeks ago	the wins look nice, but	the wins look nice, but consider that NC was with saban's players. that before the second half of this season, the fire les contingent at LSU had been very loud since about the year after he won the championship. that many people think lsu wins despite his coaching, not because of it. his on the field stuff is questionable, but off the field is not: he's got more than one closet full of skeletons. dicking over 18 year olds is wrong. bringing those sanctions on LSU should make his hiring a non starter alone. the negative recruiting against carr means we're unlikely to have a united program... i could have sworn that was an issue at one point... and then theres that rumor about les and moeller's wife. if les is the hire, fine. ceratinly not my first choice but i'd support the program still and hope for the best. i just would prefer not to have to hold my nose while cheering on the team.

2 years 18 weeks ago	he allegedly just turned down	he allegedly just turned down 7 per from miami. but miami aint no michigan! err... we can hope anyway. maybe those interviews he did with the top qbs' in last year's draft gave him the college football bug. no doubt it'd be awesome. just not going to get my hopes up on this one.
2 years 18 weeks ago	the problem with hoke is that	the problem with hoke is that its an underwhelming hire. had brandon sold it, maybe had some people in the press write some stories lauding him. hired him early so it didnt look like we're settling like he's left over pizza. maybe then it would have worked. personally, from what i've gathered, i think hoke could be a good hire. but if we learned one thing from the rodriguez era its that the support of the extended UM familly is necessary to success. i get the sense hoke would be a tough sell. one thing is for sure, i bet michigan is regretting adding SDSU to start next year's schedule.
2 years 18 weeks ago	craig james and whitlock (of	craig james and whitlock (of course) rave about hoke. not the sexiest pick ever but i believe coaches improve just as players do. i think his previous few years are exceptional. and you have to atleast appreciate a guy who wants to be here, and not just for the $$.
2 years 18 weeks ago	mortensen is saying "it looks	mortensen is saying "it looks like he's staying at stanford". but what does "looks like" mean? its my fault for sleuthing so much, but modern journalism is awful.  whitlock says it looks like harbaugh is taking a 6 figure deal to coach at ball state. seems just as reasonable. coaching luck one more year makes sense, but missing out at michigan, seemingly the most logical nfl spot (49ers), and a godfather offer from miami does not. hard to imagine harbaugh's stock being any higher. sticking around stanford for just one more year seems to be the dumbest of all possible choices he could make.
2 years 18 weeks ago	as of a couple hours ago, dan	as of a couple hours ago, dan lebatard was reporting harbaugh to the dolphins was all but a done deal. as of an hour ago, that is no longer true. right now, the top 3 favorites (us, san francisco, and miami) are probably all thinking they've struck out on him. stanford is obviously still in play as well, but the above tells me that our chances are atleast just a little more alive than is conventional wisdom. harbaugh's in a position to call the shots. he's listened to the offers, now he can decide. i wont be surprised if he picks any one of those four destinations.
2 years 18 weeks ago	these numbers are all	these numbers are all rumored, but i heard harbaugh wanted 7 million from 49ers, and that dolphins offered 7 million to gruden. i guess you could assume they would offer harbaugh the same or even the 8 million you mentioned. if 49ers really only offered him 5 per, i think michigan's hopes would be alive. all in, we paid RR an average of 4.17 per year. i think we could come up with an offer very competitive to 5/25, maybe something like 7/30. its all just pure conjecture, but i think all we can do is hope our offer is comparable to what the nfl, and harbaugh decides that being equal he'd just as soon coach in ann arbor.
2 years 19 weeks ago	people need to think	people need to think logically about this. the most brandon has said was today at the conference, and as far as i can tell harbaugh has been even quieter. john harbaugh has been speculating, but has he really talked to jim about michigan vs 49ers? and its cool that john can just tell whoever stuff jim is saying absolutely nothing to anyone else about? i dont think so. my guess is 99.99999999999% of what we hear is just guesses reverberating off each other. if you guess harbaugh wont come, youre just guessing. but if i quote you as saying he wont come, i can list you as my source.  if harbaugh said "i'd coach there for free", like hoke, it wouldnt have to be this way. but since he's the hot name looking for big money, it probably couldnt be any other way. if brandon really had been sitting on his hands for the last month he deserves to join rodriguez. but i dont think that is at all what he's been doing.
2 years 19 weeks ago	not just negotiations between	not just negotiations between 49ers and harbaugh, but perhaps between him and brandon as well. no one knows whats happened so far with harbaugh. maybe it got to the point where they talked money and the sides are just far apart. harbaugh knows the job at michigan is his if he wants it (one would think, anyway), so he can afford to play coy. perhaps he's just trying to get michigan to up the $$$. one can hope, anyway.

3 years 10 weeks ago	similar story happened to my	similar story happened to my mom's dog monday. she let him out on a leash in the morning, suddenly she hears horrific barking. 2 pitbulls are on him trying to rip his face off. somehow, my mom amazingly got the bulls off him, got my dog inside, without even getting injured. the vet had to basically sew my dogs face back on, 500 dollars in vet bills (plenty more to come), and my mom's dog gets to be miserable for 2 weeks with a drainage pipe in his face and a lampshade on his neck. not to mention the social damage done (he was always nervous before this, now it will probably be much worse). frustrating to say the least. the worst part is that the dogs stayed in my mom's yard, so the police were able to collect them. however, since they only attacked another animal the owners were able to release them with only paying the housng fee (like 75 dollars). the detective said he will try to get them to pay the bills, but since the owners are in detroit, i have a feeling theyre not just gonna hand my mom a big wad of cash. really crappy. personally, i think the owners should be criminally liable.
3 years 11 weeks ago	i did read it. caputo's	i did read it. caputo's argument: there is no evidence to the contrary that RR isnt being overwhelmed at michigan. your argument: there are mitigating circumstances for his failures. your argument, even if true, doesnt make caputo's faulty. what has RR done well since he's been here? the only reason he still has a job is because he hasnt done enough to be fired after just 2 years.

3 years 11 weeks ago	evidence to the contrary does	evidence to the contrary does not include excuses. i think your post kind of just proves his point. its hard to come up with the stuff that has gone right here under RR. also, for those bashing caputo, keep in mind he is consistently a very moderate, reasonable voice in the detroit market (him and wojo are #1 and #2, imo). he also just last week wrote in his article that "practice gate" was a legit story but grossly overstated by the freep. soo.... i like RR personally, and hope he gets this turned around next year. but things have not gone well by any measure, and more of the same means he should be gone. sometimes people on this board really do act like the iraqi minister of information. just because someone writes something that isnt glowing over michigan doesnt mean theyre an enemy of the state, or something.

3 years 16 weeks ago	i couldnt blame the refs.	i couldnt blame the refs. sims is talented but he is such a mope. what could he have possibly been thinking taking that 3? and harris had almost a comically bad game. where did running into the teeth of the defense and throwing up a prayer come from? send that back. the talent we'll lose this year will hurt, but i think having novak lead this team rather than sims will more than make up for it.

RR might beable to sell warren on having his draft stock jump by staying one more year. but the shitstorm that is our d has to be a scary prospect for him. either way, i dont see any reason to be optimistic about this defense going forward. we've got exactly one thing going for us and he's graduating this year. i know people hope that having consistency from the dc will help, but thats overblown. its not like theres going to be some sudden sea change between coordinators.

3 years 28 weeks ago	right now i see RR as a guy	right now i see RR as a guy who overly relies on one play, doesnt pay attention to details. the best thing about him was hope, but he has yet to justify any of that optimism. he's not getting fired, even if he loses out. but i doubt the new AD will put up with a 3rd year of this. and right now, next year looks like more of the same is possible, losing graham, probably warren, and the likelihood that devin gardner plays as a true frosh. there will be good candidates that would take over for RR. i have no doubt in that. ps im rooting for rodriguez, i really hope he works this thing out. but right now, he's been more trouble than a positive. by far.

RR has one foot out the door, though. i think alot of people didnt understand how bad of a loss last week was. its carried over, and a 6th win is not guaranteed.
3 years 28 weeks ago	any more einstein's want to	any more einstein's want to say our defense isnt terrible? illinois' dead last rated offense maybe has figured something out? what do we have, 1 take away all year? our offense better be #1 in the country next year, or its goign to be alot more losses too. and if your trying to delude yourself into thinking its due to the transition of a new dc, coordinators come in all the time and make impacts over night. the defense is talent depleted, and itll be worse next year.

3 years 29 weeks ago	after the first drive, we	after the first drive, we were outscored 35-3, on our home field. psu seemed to grab 20, 30 yards on a whim. we werent just beat today... i dont know if people are just staying positive, or hopelessly naive (someone used the phrase 'sitting at the cool kids' table'... christ) but i feel like i just looked at the clock at work and its 45 min earlier than i thought it was.
