This will be the thread for hot takes and snowflakes regarding the offense and offensive playcalling.

There are some downsides here, so let me get that out of the way: I want Shea to pull the trigger, and we have trouble against zone defenses, which Wisconsin ran a lot of.

That said: Good night, what a thumping on the ground. I was not expecting that. Higdon made some great upfield cuts (and could have made a couple more). The zone reads we've been setting up all year? Devastating. Those arc blocks, which we've seen once or twice, absolutely destroyed Wisconsin.

We left points on the field and still had a great offensive performance. Best performance on the ground, contextually, since the RR era at least, IMO.

Underrated comment. If Shea returns, this offense will be unsoppable. It takes time for QBs and WRs to get timing right and by that I mean a whole friggin season. Heck there are so many cases on ocllege football where a senior QB and WR combo is DEADLY, even in inferior teams. We haven't had same coached senior laden Oline or WRs in so long. Time is now! Wish Shea could stay as I truly believe he'll have Heisman like season if he does.

I mean the Milton play was dumb, because there is literally nothing he could do better in that situation than the other two QB's. Patterson is obviously the better thrower and McCaffrey is the better runner so there was literally no point to that play and it really killed the first drive

All the bitching about the lack of imagination...OMG!!! Please consider what the LAST thing one would expect from Milton showing up for the first time-that's right...a QB run. Just go sit in your corner and be quiet. The coaching staff, already, has this smorgasbord of options on film for the opposition to consider and be prepared for...out of like formations. Sometimes the defense is going to guess correctly but, clearly, when they don't the damages can be quite significant.

It's because our ways of "shaking things up" are themselves predictable. We think we're going to fool people, and we don't. It's almost like the brain trust isn't as clever as they think. They figure, "oh, we'll get em with this" and the other team goes, "oh, we saw this personnel setup on film, M is doing this".....and we do.

pass pro was outstanding, second half run blocking was outstanding, but what impressed me the most was our WRs downfield blocking.

Some hot takes, because I am such a renowned hot take artist:

 - For the first time in a long time, I can honestly say that I really liked the offensive line play from beginning to end.

- I can do without the "smartest man in the room" plays until we can execute them as they seemed to ruin our rhythm on occasion.

- 230-ish rushing yard in just one half (the second, in this case). Yes, please.
