White Practice Jersey as game jersey??

Submitted by Raback Omaba on
I know a topic on the practice jerseys was just posted, but because I want to start a new conversation, I felt compelled to start a new topic. Additionally, I'm just trying to waste time at work since we are dead in August. Does anyone think the white practice jersey would make a good away jersey? I've never been a huge fan of our away jerseys, but I really like these white practice ones. I think the solid blue numbers and the three blue stripes are a great effect...they would look great with maize pants and the traditional Michigan helmet. Additionally, the "three stripes", although somewhat of an addidas advertisement, also plays into the Michigan heritage as well due to the "three stripes" on our helmet. In any case, I think they would look great, especially in relation to our current away jerseys (which aren't bad, but I'd like to see these.) Don't mess with the home though. What does everyone think?

As I said in the other thread, they look like range balls. You don't go play a round with a range ball..but they are just fine to practice with.

Yeah, I kinda like them, but there's no way they'll be our away jerseys. As far as practice jerseys go, they're great, but I never want to see them in a game.

they'd never work. As a general rule, when you have to preface your message board post with the comment, 'I'm trying to waste time before the season,' or, 'it's the dead of the offseason and there's nothing to talk about,' or, 'gee, only 24 days left until the opener,' you should really think twice before you post what you're about to post. This one is up there with "The Dread Line" and "Gee, I'm the only Michigan fan on the planet who likes Obi Ezeh." Now, here's the question - white or blue pants for a road jersey alteration, would those work?

"This one is up there with "The Dread Line" and "Gee, I'm the only Michigan fan on the planet who likes Obi Ezeh."" No it isn't buddy, it's a fair discussion. I think the majority of true Michigan fans would like to see these jerseys be used on the road as the road uni's have been unimpressive for quite some time, especially after the boring yellow strip was incorporated.

(this is your quote above - I can't tinker with it to distinguish the text, apologies) A "majority" of the millions of 'true' Michigan football fans would like the jerseys to be changed to the practice jerseys? You're making the grand assumption that more than 5% of the fanbase has actually seen these practice shirts. Not everyone obsesses over Michigan football the way we do here, and I'd say the vast majority don't even know about this "development." They're nice practice jerseys. That's it. If they switch to new road jerseys, they'll be nicer than the ones they wear in practice.

Also, I'm pretty sure most older fans would be outraged to see jerseys with the stripes... I'm pretty sure a lot of people were upset back when they added the names to the backs

Type i > before the text that you want to italicize and / i > to close it. (Note: there shouldn't be any spaces within the brackets.) For bolding or underlining text, it's the same, except with a "b" or "u" instead of an "i."

I actually like the road jerseys and I consider myself a pretty big fan. The practice jerseys are ok but I am not liking them all that much. Maybe the reason is because on College Football Live I saw the same jerseys just different colors on Tennessee players for their practice. Then I saw them on mgoblue.com in the videos. Anyway I don't think you can jump to the assumption that the majority of Michigan fans would prefer these jerseys to the current away jersey.

Oh, come on, like there is any more merit in you lecturing about the importance of thread topics than there was in my Ezeh thread. Of your hundreds of posts, most of them are about people's grammar, or whether or not you find their opinions valuable, or about your swell Gopher tickets and your great job that pays soooo well that your kids are going to go to Cretin because they have a super popular and great dad. You post as much shit as the rest of us, stop acting like you are elite. If you don't like what I posted, downvote it, that's what it's there for. If you want to be the ultimate decider of what is a good post and what isn't, start your own blog. Until then, quit bitching

I've always wanted to see white/white or blue pants................I think the away jerseys should be toyed with, not Oregon like, but a little pizzaz would spice things up a little. Look at Miami & Florida, they make color changes but essentially keep the home uni's standard

I think they could look pretty cool as the away jersey... maybe have the middle stripe yellow and stay with yellow pants? idk... but I'm up to changing the away jersey as long as the home one's stay the same.

sure that this is our away jersey...if so, then the practice jerseys would be WAAAAY better than this. I believe that this is just a generic screen printed away jersey to buy your 12 year old nephew.... The yellow stripe over the top is garbage.

1st hand at the M-DEN last month. the one that i linked to is the replica but i'm pretty sure that its the same as the authentic jerseys there. our road jerseys have always sucked and they change every year. i am not a fan of putting the 3 stripes on the roads jerseys. i like the just having the adidas logo.

I just checked their website as well and none of the colleges on their website have jerseys for sale there. However I don't go to that website ever to look at Michigan gear because I prefer MDen so maybe they sold jerseys on their website last year.

We have had a total of four road uniform designs in the past 30+ years. From the late 1970s through 1996, we had the same look (with the only change being the addition of the Nike swoosh in '95). It was the one with the solid blue numbers, and the horizontal stripes on the sleeves (two thin blue ones around a thick yellow one). From 1997 through 2004, we had the uniform with the outlined numbers, the "M" on the sleeves, etc. From 2005-07, we had the last Nike design (similar to the current Adidas one, but without the thick curved stripe). Last year we switched to the Adidas jersey.

I think the white practice jerseys are sweet. Perhaps they need some maize outline to the numbers but i'm good with them. Now try to get the old alums to change their minds...

...the season, for all intents and purposes, is underway. You can't blame "the dog days of summer" on being challenged that the team should adopt its white practice jerseys as road uniforms. And, if you honestly believe that, you should welcome the challenge in a spirited debate, and not hide behind "I'm only posting because there's 22 days until the season starts."

If they were the away jerseys they could "spice them up" a little. Make the front stripe come up and cross the chest like in the photo posted above. The back most stripe does the same thing in the back under the last name. The middle stripe just goes straight up and down to the arm pit. Blue pants, blue stripes, blue numbers, yellow M on the pants.

I think the practice unis look sharp and modern. I don't think they look dorky. The team has changed away jerseys many times; one could say THAT is a tradition. We shouldn't change the helmet, we shouldn't change the home unis, but it isn't blasphemy to consider the practice unis, or a variation as our away jersey.
