We ARE Michigan

Submitted by Cold War on

The winningest program ever. Most winning seasons. Most undefeated seasons. The ones who taught Notre Dame how to play football. Holders of the all-time single game attendance mark.

We play in the Big House. We wear the winged helmet. The Victors is the greatest fight song ever. Eleven national titles, and we've turned down five. Forty two freaking Big Ten titles.

Yost. Crisler. Elliot. Schembechler. Oosterbaan. Kramer. Ford. Harmon. Woodson. Howard.

Fergodsake, I'm proud to be a Michigan Man. And oh, yes, our rivals are Ohio and little brother.  Did anyone stop calling us scUM or tsun when things were lean for them? Hell no.

When times are tough, you embrace all of this. You don't toss it away.

We're not the Michigan of old? Always have been, and always will be.

since the series is over you are simply OT.  You have no reason to be here, NONE.  When your team is not on the schedule you should not be this board.  Yes bantering is fine when we were opponents, but that's gone.  And you should be too.

It is also noted that you joined MGoBlog in 2009 ... congrats nd went 2 - 4 against Michigan since 2009.  You were smart to miss the 38 - 0 games in 2003 & 2007.

Why you gotta be so rude?

Listen I come here for the smart football analysis and the smart asses that populate this board.  Some of the reads are pure comedy gold.  Some of you guys are wound up tighter than a drum, for no reason.  If you don't like me, don't read me.  If I break the rules then I expect the mods to do their jobs and ship me to Bolovian.

Well then WTF does that make you, don't get me started on how you ended the series, bush league crap, that was.

Don't get too excited about winning the way you did last weekend, M is a program with some serious questions right now, we will figure it out, go worry about your own program.

BTW, if we ever face you in the final four, a letter ain't gonna not make that game happen.

Smart asses was a compliment, as in regards to the comedy I spoke about earlier.  Despite the aformentioned tight as drum people, I still get large enjoyment from here.  Smile a little bit.  Sometimes it helps to cope with whatever issues are happening in your life.

1. Never has a picture shown a man's two obsessions of Michigan athletics and organization to be so equally crazy, and that's not meant as an insult.

2. The M Quilt reminds me of the quilt my mom made me that's blue and yellow with The Victors stitched around the outer edge. Unfortunately, my quilt is starting to show it's age, which oddly relates to the football program's recent feel.

YOU FORGOT TO MENTION GUSTAVE FERBERT.

Coach of Michigan's first-ever conference championship in 1898--the first champions of the West.

He later resigned after 1899 to go prospecting for gold in Alaska.

Of course they will. That's exactly what they did with Basketball.

All I ever saw Michigan Basketball win in my lifetime up until 2011-12 was an NIT in 2004. But I always believed that someday Michigan would go back to being what they once were in Basketball because that's how things work.

All programs that have had greatness will experience a down period. There's no avoiding it. Look at Michigan Hockey the last two years. Up until 2012-13, they made the NCAA Tournament every single year of my life

I'm right there with you. Tractor Traylor was with the program when I was pretty young, and he was one of my favorites. There was never much success until recently, but I was always a big Michigan Basketball fan. I was waiting most of my life for the program to turn around, and I was rewarded handsomely.

This just brought up a great memory.  Thinking of the basketball program, I can't help but smile.  It was such an awesome feeling sitting in the Georgia Dome after beating Syracuse and thinking how far the program had come.  I was with a good friend who had followed the team so closely with me growing up, and of course we hadn't witnessed success outside the NIT.  All I could say was "we're in the national championship..." over and over, but could hardly believe it.

Well, cool story bro to me  :)

I love the University of Michigan--the university foremost, but the athletic teams as well.  That said, I am not a member of a cult.  I don't have to wear blinders when things are bad or wrong. You certainly don't get to set the criteria for a "True FAN".  There are very few coming to this niche sports site who are not Michigan fans.

its all historical right now...

we haven't won the conference in ten years, our last two hires have been horrendous failures... and right now it don't feel that great to be...

thank god for basketball but I was raised on something else and my four years at school96-00 were some of the best we've ever had...

right now we are the phoenix burned to ashes.  We need to begin growing again and I have a hard time believing we have the right coaches to take us there.

I find my self worrying about us slipping into mediocrity unless we get an amazing coach. For fuck sake 7 years ago I thought anyone could coach us to 8-4... now I'm afraid it is the bes we can do.

When is the last time we won a game that made you feel good?  Nebraska three years ago?  UTL?  that was the height for right now.

I'm tired of this team saying it is ok when things aren't.

I want someone on this team to get pissed up and step up.

I want emotion, not acceptance.
