Those that don't remember the past are prone to repeat it. I could not believe the depths that we sunk to, so much so that I began to wonder if we'd ever be elite again. We need to remember so it doesn't happen again. You can't take greatness for granted.

when ND started taking a dump, I never laughed at them; whether we want to admit it or not, our programs are incredibly similar.  I used them as a guide for what to expect when Carr retired.  They were always about 10 years ahead of us on the regression timeline.  By some miracle, we've snapped out of the vicious cycle of coaching hiring/firing that they're currently in.

We like to think we were the most tortured fans ever from 2008-2014, but even then, U-M was still beating ND.  They were still worse than us and they'd been that bad since Holtz left.  Their AD is like Brandon but they have no avenue to fire the guy.  I read a thread on NDNation about how they should organize a protest like the U-M students did so that the guy could get fired, because he will never get fired otherwise.

We were so close to being just like ND.

Maybe you could do this style of video again, but this time the sad beginning part is when we give up like 2 or 3 yard runs, and then the happy part is TFLs, interceptions, blocked kicks.

Where you came from, including the losses and the bad seasons. Some day in the future most of the players in those clips will be in the Big House to celebrate the 2011 Sugar Bowl Champion team. Those players will get a standing ovation and massive applause from me. They endured more than we fans ever will, and I can't wait to show them that appreciation.

For the 2010 season, and back in 2009, Forcier was the main QB with Denard getting some snaps. It's mainly posted here as a reminder of the shit we've gone through, as well as some of the highlights. Forcier had contributions on both side of the spectrum, but he was still our QB for a year.

I love that video too.  I'm not sure why people are reacting so negatively.  It's important to remember the bad times so we can appreciate the good.  I'd be down for a video that started with some of the failures of the past decade and then turned to color with a shot of Harbaugh.

I actually made that video (see the username) -- I'm a lifelong Michigan fan as well as a current UM grad student and season-ticket holder. Haven't thought about that video in a while, but I have mixed feelings. On one hand, that was a different period, and I feel like we've moved on to something with so much more optimism that the song just doesn't fit anymore. On the other hand, I don't regret that period or the video -- there's no question in my mind that I am eenjoying and appreciating the success now so much more because of what the program went through to get here, and I don't want to forget that.

Dude, thanks. Despite the pain of that era and the disappointment of 2010, I still hold this vid as the standard of matching music to content that I judge other hype vids by.

I would love a similar vid with a more hopeful song that chronicles the broader arch of M football over the last 10 year, starting with Armageddon. Just a thought.

Contrary to most commenters in this thread, I fucking love that video. It perfectly encapsulates that era of Michigan football. When we were up, we we really fucking up (emotionally, I mean). And, of course, we all know how low the lows got. I will never forget those days and how much we struggled. Remembering that feeling only makes seasons like this one so much better and appreciated so much more.

I love some of the players we had in that era and only wish they could have experienced more success, but wouldn't trade them or those years for anything. It made us what we are today. Think of that era as our sacrifice to the football gods. It simply had to happen, and even though it obviously could have been better and very different in many ways, I'm sort of glad it happened the way it did - in some emo, macabre way.

Thanks for sharing the video. Would love to see a remake with clips from hoke and Harbaugh years now - but maybe after this season...

That video is one of my all time favorites. At the time, it gave hope that things would get better (oh, if we'd only knew...) I've since added the song to the beginning of my Michigan Football playlist as a reminder of the dark era and our emergence back into the light. Can't have one without the other.

Jeez the guy puts together a video and u cry about the song being used. Next time lets call you first before we start.

Dude that was a great video and good choice for song. I liked it as it reminded me how far we have come and even we were losing I loved Michigan and the players that busted there ass for us in those years.

When we needed 5 yards and got 4,.Or we  needed 20 and got 19. Then when we needed to stop them at 5 and they somehow got 6,  Or we needed to stop them at 19 and they somehow got 20. I am so glad we have a coach who gets the game of college football and all phases of it.

Those days gave us an appreciation for these days. So stay right here because these are the good ole days. Thank you Jim Harbaugh and the people, parents and coach's who taught you what you know today and gave you the strength and conditioning that make you who your are today. Go Blue! Beat State.

Made me go back and watch the videos again tonight. They are amazing. I remember first seeing them on here and sending them to every Michigan fan I knew.
