VIDEO: First Practice (on-field chippiness, presser bites, player interviews and OMG NEW PRACTICE JERSEYS)

Submitted by Thorin on

Interviews with Denard and Kovacs as well as practice footage that shows Devin at QB twice and everyone who isn't Devin or Darboh catching a pass.

I knew there was a reason I felt compelled to check MgoBlog one last time before hitting the sack.  Thank you Thorin for your diligence with these presser/practice videos. It is much appreciated by the football starved masses.

OK, I'll be first to bring up the OMG NEW PRACTICE JERSEYS.

I'm wondering how they chose who wears which jersey - anyone have a clue?  Some have the 'wolverine' triple slash on the shoulders, some have nothing.  Curious.  Also, please don't let us do anything that moves us any closer the Marvel Comics' Wolverine.  That was the first thing I thought about when I saw the shoulder slashes.  The Toronto Raptors were/are the worst concept for a team.  They have nothing to do with Toronto... but that Jurasic Park movie was *awesome*, right?  How could that not be a great identity for a basketball team?  Real wolverines no doubt leave claw marks, but my first thought when seeing the slashes was Wolverine, not wolverines.

Starting at 0:18, it sounds like Brady Hoke says, "First day back out there with a nude football team." Huh? I didn’t even see a naked bootleg among all the plays they showed, and all the players I saw in the video looked clothed.

Michigan football is one hell of a drug. These late night/early morning videos are like quick fixes before I get those full doses during Saturdays in the fall.

seeing Roundtree wearing 21. Maybe they can feature him a bit more this year. That guy will really produce if you give him a chance. How good we can throw the ball downfield will be the difference against tough defenses this year. If they can load the box and force us to be one dimensional (like VaTech did) we're in trouble...

Beginning at 0:42, Burzynski is hitting the pads with the ones, and immediately after you see Mealer with the twos (the run where Vincent Smith squirts free).

The new practice jerseys are exactly the same as the template Nebraska is wearing this season.  Which is consistent with the previous template being worn by Michigan, Nebraska, Wisconsin, ND, etc.  Adidas standardizes their practice jerseys for uniformity across the brand, and this is this year's model.

can we for once have everybody in the same attire for practice. Hey, if you want to get really crazy with it adidas, you make the QBs jersey red. You got guys out there in game jerseys ranging from the 08 season to last years and a medley of different practice jerseys as well. I want uniforms to be...well..uniform.

The white stripes on the blue practice jerseys look so awkward and out of place.  They just stick out like a sore thumb.

It amazes me time and again how the design "professional" at adidas keep putting out this crap.  Didn't these people go to school for this?  And yet their aesthetic sensibilities are so poor even the untrained eye can see how bad it looks.

My God, what a train wreck their design team is.....  so full of fail.
